Hawkeye shots and arrow across the way and hits a telephone pole. He swings along the cable that was attached to the back of the arrow as the car he was standing on explodes. She-Hulk shouts that she is going to “crush Arrow Man”. Hawkeye asks Jen if that is any way to treat an old friend. He tells her to show some respect for a veteran Avenger. Hawkeye tells the people to run one way and warn everyone to take shelter in the police station. He says that he will lead trouble the other way. She-Hulk smashes through a window. She says that she knows Arrow Man and that he always teases her. Hawkeye fires a tear gas arrow into She-Hulk’s face. She-Hulk chases Hawkeye through a bowling alley. She-Hulk is throwing bowling balls at Hawkeye. Hawkeye fires a sonic arrow and She-Hulk grabs her ears. Hawkeye thinks about all the good friends he has in the Avengers and that when he heard that She-Hulk had abandoned the team that he had to come and help. She-Hulk breaks the sonic arrow and tells Hawkeye that she is going to knock him down. Hawkeye fires an arrow onto the ground and leaps out the window. The bowling alley blows up. She-Hulk climbs out of the rubble. Hawkeye is waiting on a motorcycle and asks She-Hulk if she is coming. She-Hulk shouts that she hates being teased. Hawkeye tells her not to cry on him and that he hates to see girls cry. Hawkeye starts driving up a hill. He looks back to see if She-Hulk is following him. He doesn’t see her and wonders where she went. She-Hulk lands in front of Hawkeye. Hawkeye struggles to get up. He says that if she wanted a kiss all she had to do was ask. She-Hulk lifts Hawkeye off the ground by his neck. She says that she will make him fly like an arrow and throws him into the air. Hawkeye flies through the air with arrows falling all over the place. He hits a tree and goes unconscious. She-Hulk asks where her arrow landed. A voice tells She-Hulk that she doesn’t want to do this.

She-Hulk spins around and asks who is telling her what to do. Bruce Banner says that it is him. Bruce is checking on Hawkeye. She-Hulk asks Banner what he is doing there. Bruce says that he is wandering as always. Bruce sees that Hawkeye has a cracked rib. He tells Hawkeye to do himself a favor and to stay quiet and not move. Hawkeye says that this is Avengers business and not Bruce’s. Bruce says that he helped found the Avengers and that he will talk her down. Hawkeye says that she is beyond that and that he tried it already. Bruce says, “No offense, Hawkeye… but I’m a lot smarter than you. And with this a lot more experienced.” Bruce starts walking toward She-Hulk. He says, “Hello, Jennifer.” She-Hulk says that she is not Jennifer. Bruce asks her if she sees what she has done. He points to the town she has stomped all over and asks her if she understands what she has done. She-Hulk looks away and explains that she was afraid. Bruce says that he gets afraid too. He says that they hunt and provoke him, but that it is still his fault. He says that it is all his fault and takes She-Hulk’s hand. He says that when he gave her that blood transfusion that he passed on his disease. Bruce says that he infected her. She-Hulk disagrees. She says that he made Jennifer better. He says that he made her fear go away. She-Hulk hugs Bruce and says that she loves him. She-Hulk screams that stupid humans should leave Hulks alone. Hawkeye aims an arrow at She-Hulk. Bruce tells Hawkeye to point it somewhere else. He says that all he is doing is making her angry, and that will make him angry. Hawkeye keeps the arrow aimed. Bruce tells Hawkeye that he doesn’t want to make him angry. Hawkeye lowers his bow. She-Hulk tells Bruce that she came to find him. She says that she remembers him. She asks if he remembers her. Bruce says that he remembers. He says that she was his best friend. He says that the two of them must have read every book in that library three times over. Bruce says that one of her favorites was The Scarlet Letter. He says that there is a quote that he still lives by from that, “My fortune somewhat resembled that of a person who should entertain an idea of committing suicide, and, altogether beyond his hopes, meet with the good hap to be murdered.” Bruce says that when things are at their darkest that he still thinks how it makes him smile. Bruce says that is what Jen taught him: to smile despite what life throws at them. Bruce asks Jen what she is afraid of. She-Hulk says, “Failure. Parents wanted Jennifer to be perfect. Smart. Study all. Smart all. Not easy be smart in everything!” Bruce hugs Jen and says that he knows.

Lance tells everyone in town to calm down. He says that the army is on it’s way. One of the people says that the army can’t stop the Hulk. Lance tells them that it isn’t the Hulk, it’s the She-Hulk. The person just keeps yelling that the Hulk is going to kill all of them. One of the people asks Lance where his mother is. Another asks where the Avengers ran off to.

Sheryl is trying to dig the Avengers out. Iron Man blasts them out of the rubble. He says that the back up batteries took a second to kick in. He asks if anyone is hurt. Sheryl tells him that there are some injuries, but that thanks to them that there is nothing serious. Cap sees the waitress walking around calling for Jonah. Cap approaches her. She asks Cap to help her find her son Jonah. Cap promises that they will. Iron Man says that he had hoped it wouldn’t come to this, but that he thinks he needs to call for Jack of Hearts. Cap looks as the army arrives. Doc Samson leaps out of the landing helicopter.

Hawkeye sees the army jets and wonders why they don’t just let the Avengers take care of this. Bruce says that they are after him and not her. Hawkeye gets an idea.

Samson and the army rush in.

Bruce tries to tell She-Hulk not to worry about them and that they can go away. She-Hulk yells that she is not afraid of them. In her shouting, She-Hulk accidentally knocks Bruce over. Hawkeye says that talking isn’t working. He says that there is only one way to keep She-Hulk busy until the other Avengers arrive. Bruce tells him that he doesn’t know what he is doing. Hawkeye says that he is sorry, but that he is all out of trick arrows. Hawkeye hits Bruce with an arrow in the shoulder. Bruce says that he didn’t have to do that. Bruce hulks out. She-Hulk spins and sees Hulk. Hulk says, “She-Hulk won’t listen. Hulk make She-Hulk listen!”

Avengers Files rating: 7.5 out of 10

I really enjoyed the interaction between Bruce and Jen. I wish there were more issues with the two of them together. I like having Hawkeye with the Avengers, but Kolins’ Hawkeye really stinks. He’s kind of a hit or miss artist. I like his She-Hulk and Hulk (despite their lack of eyes), but his Hawkeye and Samson stink. 3 out of 5 for the art.
