Hulk hits She-Hulk and tells her to do what he says and go away. She-Hulk hits back, drawing Hulk’s blood, and says that she was there first. Hawkeye is sent flying at the fight continues. Hulk says that there are no girls allowed. Hawkeye says that maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. Captain America grabs Hawkeye’s hand. Cap asks what wasn’t such a good idea. Hawkeye asks where Thor is. Cap says that he is no longer an Avenger. Hawkeye says that they need Hercules, Wonder Man, or some big gun. Cap says that they already got them. Iron Man and Wanda fly down. Wanda says that this is a pleasant surprise. Iron Man asks Hawkeye what he did.

She-Hulk smashes a tree into Hulk’s chest. The tree shatters.

Hawkeye says that he did what he had to do. He says that he brought Hulk out to keep Jen busy. He says that she wanted to go fight the Hulkbusters and turn the town into a cemetery. The Hulk/She-Hulk fight creates some kind of sonic boom from the collision. Iron Man says that as if She-Hulk wasn’t bad enough on her own. Hawkeye tells him to lighten up, and that he is sure Cap already has a dozen different ways to stop them. He says that he bets even Shellhead has one. Iron Man says that he does, but that it is risky. Hawkeye asks if it is as risky as revealing his secret identity. Iron Man looks at Hawkeye smirking and radios Ant-Man.

Ant-Man tells Iron Man that he is hearing him and to go ahead. Iron Man says that they need Jack of Hearts out there immediately. He says that things with the She-Hulk just took at turn for the worse. He says that they got some “assistance” from Hawkeye. Ant-Man starts to ask what he is doing there, but Iron Man tells him to focus and shows him what they are dealing with. Ant-Man sees Hulk and She-Hulk fighting. Ant-Man asks what Iron Man wants him to do. Iron Man says that he needs him to get Jack out of the Zero Room and fly him out there fast. He says that they will debrief him on the way. Ant-Man says that the time lock isn’t going to open for twelve hours. Iron Man tells him to figure out another way to open it then. Ant-Man starts talking about how impossible it is, but Iron Man says that Ant-Man was a burglar at one point, and to get to it. Iron Man signs off. Scott says that he hopes picking locks is like riding a bike.

Hulk and She-Hulk are charging at one another with giant rocks. Wanda hexes and changes the ice and snow into steam. She says that it should confuse them for a moment. Wanda says that she thinks that she broke her wrist, but that she has to keep them apart. She says that Jen is strong, but that she is no match for the Hulk.

Hawkeye and Cap are talking strategy when Hulk comes up behind them. Hulk says, “Avengers.” He tries to hit them with a tree, but they dodge out of the way. Hawkeye tells Hulk that he has to close his eyes and count to ten first in tag. Hawkeye fires arrows at Hulk’s eyes, but they break against them. One of Hawkeye’s arrows hit Cap in the shoulder, but when Hawk points it out to Cap he says that they will take care of it after. Cap throws his shield at Hulk, but Hulk just catches it.

Ant-Man shrinks down into the time lock with a paperclip in his hand. He sees the three movement mechanical system and figures out that he has to fool three clocks into thinking that fourteen hours have passed. He enters the code and unlocks the standard mechanism. He walks from the locking rod to the clocks. He says that they have to fool all three clocks at the same time and asks his ant friends if they are ready. The lock shorts out and falls to the floor. The Zero Room door blows off. Ant-Man helps Jack to his feet and tells him to wake up. Jack says that his cells aren’t drained yet. He says that his skin is on fire and that he shouldn’t be out. Jack asks what time it is. Scott says that it is time to suit up and that he has a job to do.

Sheryl tells Doc Samson that he doesn’t care what kind of doctor he is or what kind of army they are. She says that the Avengers told her that they would stop this, and that they won’t use missiles to destroy more of their homes. Lance says that they will have to go through them to get to them. Samson says that he will give them their chance. He tells the troops to hold their ground. He says that he hopes Banner doesn’t sneak away from them this time.

She-Hulk comes over the top of a ridge. Wanda and Iron Man call out to ‘Jennifer’, but She-Hulk just smashes Iron Man. Iron Man says that the battle has regressed her even further. He says that half his systems just went off-line. He says that he can still fly them out of there. Tony realizes that he just lost a tooth.

Iron Man tries to radio Cap, but the interference scrambles the reception. Hulk throws the shield. Cap bounces off some trees and catches the shield in mid-air. Hawkeye asks how he did that. Cap says that it is just practice like Hawkeye does. She-Hulk leaps onto Hulk.

Jack of Hearts arrives in Bone Idaho. He swears to Cap that he didn’t mean to do this. Cap says that they all know. Cap asks Jack if he thinks he can perform a limited detonation and then retain the fallout. Jack says that he was only in the Zero Room for a few hours and that he can feel his suit burning off. He says that he is close to blacking out. He says that he isn’t sure that he is going to be able to reabsorb it. He says that he could turn the entire town into a desert and wind up killing She-Hulk. He says that maybe he should just fly away. Iron Man radios Jack. He says that he knows that the last few months, and years, have been hard, but that he has come a long way since he first got into this game. Iron Man says that this is a big step and that he has to trust himself. Jack tells Mr. Stark to get everyone clear. Iron Man flies away holding Wanda, Cap, and Hawkeye. Jack dives to the ground and explodes. He pulls the radiation back in. Bruce Banner and Jennifer Walters lie on the ground unconscious. Jack says, “I’m… sorry.” He holds his hand out to Jen and turns her back into the She-Hulk.

Iron Man says that the radioactive levels are falling to near zero. He says that Jack did it.

Bruce gets up. He checks She-Hulk’s pulse. He says that she is better off with them, and that he is better off leaving.

She-Hulk wakes up and calls out to Bruce. Cap, Iron Man, Wanda, and Hawkeye stand looking down on her. Cap welcomes her back. Ant-Man says that he can’t believe Jack pulled it off as they’re loading Jack into a containment unit. She-Hulk asks if he is going to be all right. Iron Man says that he isn’t sure, and that Jack has never done anything like this before. Jen goes to check on him, but Iron Man tells her to stay back and that he would hate to have to start the cycle over again. She-Hulk looks at Jack and asks how he returned her to her normal self. Tony says that Jack can see radiation the way they see colors. He says that he must have recharged her to her proper dose of gamma radiation. Stark says that they can’t risk having the two of them come in contact with one another. She-Hulk asks how they’re going to make sure. Iron Man says that one of them will have to leave the team. She-Hulk calls to Hawkeye. She lifts him off the air and says that this is for helping him. She kisses him. She says that this is for shooting her cousin with an arrow. She throws him into some fallen trees. Hawkeye says that he has missed her. Wanda asks if Clint is back then. Hawkeye says that he is back.

Cap looks over the destruction. She-Hulk says that she did all that. She asks how many there are. Cap says that there are 72 injured, but that there are no deaths. He adds that Stark already has his company headed out to rebuild the town. He says that it will take time, and that maybe some of the wounds will never help. Cap says that the media is blaming the Hulk. She-Hulk tries to object, but Cap tells her to let them say what they want. A tear rolls down Jen’s cheek. She says that she doesn’t know if she can forgive herself for this. Cap says that the Avengers will help her and this town the best they can. Jen asks how Bruce does it. She wonders how he deals with the pain, fear, and guilt. Cap says, “Alone?” The helicopters fly away. Cap says that he will never know, and that neither will She-Hulk. They get on the quinjet.

Bruce walks down the street alone.

Avengers Files rating: 7 out of 10

It’s cool to have Hulk and She-Hulk fighting one another, but this wasn’t really the battle I was hoping for. Hulk and She-Hulk never really go at one another. Jack’s “sacrifice” was a nice wrap to the storyline, but if it comes down to She-Hulk or Jack on the team… well its been nice Jack. Shortly after the release of this issue there was news made regarding the upcoming She-Hulk series. If you’re a fan of She-Hulk you have to buy the book. Even if you don’t like it. Remember Marvel won’t look for another creative team instead of just canceling it unless it’s a success first. Kolins does okay, but his Hawkeye still looks lousy to me. Most of his Hulk looked pretty good. 3 out of 5 for art.
