Namor: The Sub-Mariner

Namor is Marvel's oldest super hero. Premiering in MARVEL COMICS #1 in 1939. In the 50's he briefly returned to comics, but then vanished again. He was later brought back in FANTASTIC FOUR #4 and appeared in several books after that including the AVENGERS and eventually back into his own title shared by fellow Defenders TALES TO ASTONISH. Namor is the Avenging Son, the mighty Prince of the Blood--the ruler of Atlantis. A hybrid of human and Atlantean gives him the the best attributes of both words, along with other amazing abilities. Water replenishes his strength, and when submerged within his element he is nearly unbeatable.

Namor also can fly for several hours at peak speeds of 60 mph before tiring, he can swim even faster and for a longer time. In addition, he possesses a resistance to injury and incredible stamina.
