THE ABOMINATION
The
Abomination, born Emil Blonsky, was a Russian spy looking for
information on the secrets of gamma radiation. He found out
more than he bargained for when he stood in front of a gamma ray
machine and took what for Bruce Banner may have been a fatal dose
of gamma radiation. You have to wonder what Emil was thinking as
he stood there, He knew about the Hulk, he knew who the Hulk was,
and he knew how Bruce became the Hulk. Still Emil stood there and
blasted himself full of gamma radiation.
Because the radiation the Abomination took was far more intense that the gamma radiation that created the Hulk he was birthed twice as strong as the Hulk. It was only through an invention of Bruce's that Abomination came to be lowered to his current Class 100 state.
Since Abomination's creation he has plagued the Hulk's life. He has gone so far as to kill Betty Ross Banner, the Hulk's wife.

Incredible Hulk vol. 3 #25- flashback- The night before Emil Blonsky leaves for the United States for the final time he enjoys a meal with his wife. Nadia tells Emil that she hopes he will be back soon this time so he can see her new performance. Emil asks Nadia if he were gone too long would she forget about him. Nadia replies that, “Oh Emil…no matter what happens…I will always love you. Emil and Nadia kiss.
Namor #59- flashback- Emil Blonsky and Major Bogatin spy on the gamma base together. Bogatin was Emil’s point man, but Blonsky never returned from his mission.
Silver Surfer #12- flashback- Abomination is kept prisoner by the Stranger. Abomination says that the Stranger has forgotten him like he has forgotten the others. He says that the Stranger just collects them to prove his power and then leaves them there.
Silver Surfer #12- The warlock prime of a group of
warlock and witches seeks to establish their coven as a true
power so that the world will respect them as their masters. They
find the Silver Surfer who has collapsed from bashing himself
against the barrier that holds him onto the planet Earth. They
drug the Surfer and then use witchcraft to summon forth a
“tool for the kill” so that they can prove that their
magic can destroy the mighty Silver Surfer. Suddenly the
Abomination appears. Abomination recalls his origin for the
warlock prime and then decides that now that he is back on Earth
he will resume taking control of it. The warlock prime tries to
make Abomination understand that he conjured him and that he is
Abomination’s master. Abomination says that he serves
nobody, and that with the Stranger gone there isn’t anyone
that can stop him. Abomination grabs the warlock prime and throws
him into some of the other witches killing him. Abomination says
that as thanks for bringing him back he will let the others of
them live. Abomination leaps off. Surfer wakes up and uses his
power to keep the warlock prime from dying. He starts to fly
away, but he spots the Abomination terrorizing a town.
Abomination says that this will happen to all that challenge him.
Surfer is still weakened but challenges Abomination. Abomination
leaps up into Surfer and drives him into the ground. Abomination
punches the Surfer, and the Surfer can’t get up. Abomination
stomps off victorious. He says that they will give him whatever
he wants to save the city. Surfer gets up and continues following
Abomination. Abomination throws a large chunk of concrete at
Surfer. Surfer dodges and starts to feel his strength returning.
Surfer charges right into Abomination. Abomination tries to throw
Surfer, but Surfer leglocks Abomination’s head and drives it
into the ground. Surfer pounds on Abomination, but eventually
regains his composure and just puts Emil to sleep. Surfer flies
Abomination back to the witches and warlocks and tells them to
put Abomination back where they got him.
Thor #178- Abomination is returned to the
Stranger’s world. He recalls that it was the Surfer’s
doing that he was sent back here. Abomination sees that while the
witches successfully returned him to the Stranger’s planet
he is no longer locked behind the wall. Abomination says that he
is gonna stay free. Abomination says that Stranger has so many
captives that he probably won’t even notice that he is
missing. Abomination enters Stranger’s building and says
that this is his chance to find a way to crush him. Stranger is
looking into one of his machines and spots another specimen for
him to seize. Stranger decides to confront this one personally
and he teleports himself there. Abomination wonders how you can
defeat someone with power as vast as the Stranger’s.
Abomination looks up on the constantly changing screen and sees
an image of Thor. Abomination accidentally hits a switch and
brings Thor into the Stranger’s lab. Abomination sees Thor
materializing and figures that he might be able to trick Thor
into siding with him. Abomination tells Thor that the Stranger
brought him there just as he did to him. Abomination says that
Stranger imprisons people from other planets to study them. Thor
asks why he should believe him. Abomination leads Thor to the
wall that he was locked inside. Thor looks inside and sees all
the captives. Thor rips open the wall freeing all the prisoners.
Stranger returns to confront Thor. Thor flees the fight and turns
into Don Blake. He spots the Abomination rallying all the
Stranger’s former prisoners into a band that will
“menace all”. Don tries to tell them that there are
forces that will stop them, but Abomination tells the others to
destroy him. Don tries to use his walking stick to turn into
Thor, but Abomination grabs it out of his hand. Don runs and
hides. Somehow Sif has the stick back and greets Don with it. Don
becomes Thor. Abomination and his followers start to attack Thor,
but Thor knocks them back. Abomination’s entire band is
knocked out except the Abomination himself. Suddenly the Stranger
finds Thor again. Thor uses his hammer to travel back in time.
Abomination is just about to start tricking Thor, but Thor (who
now knows that he is lying) sucker punches him unconscious. Thor
puts Abomination back behind the wall and locks the
door.Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #137- flashback- Abomination is seen
on a nameless asteroid defeating a creature that was much larger
than him. Xeron brings Abomination on board the ship to use his
great strength as an oarsman. Abomination challenges the first
mate of the ship to a death duel and killed him. Abomination
assumes his mantle and becomes first mate. Abomination then
stands above all on the ship except Xeron and Captain Cybor.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #270- flashback- Abomination is seen being spit from the Galaxy Master's mouth down to a world that Galaxy Master wants enslaved to produce energy for him. Abomination revels in the destruction he has caused.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #270- flashback- behind the scenes- Abomination defeats Dark-Crawler, Amphibian, and Torgo.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #269- behind the scenes- Empress Daydra tells the Hulk of the Galaxy Master's champion who nobody can beat. She says that he is green like Hulk, and seems just as strong. Hulk goes with the Empress to prove that he is strongest.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #288- flashback- The Space Shuttle finds a block of ice orbiting the earth and bring it down. Once it is discovered that the body of the Abomination is inside General Ross was brought in. Ross has the Abomination put into cryogenic stasis.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #287- When MODOK breaks into Project Earthfall it comes out that both he and General Ross want to use the Abomination for their purposes. MODOK to set against AIM, and Ross against the Hulk. MODOK melts the ice around Abomination.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #288- The Abomination screams as MODOK's rays reach him. Abomination cowers in fear as General Ross and MODOK iron out their deal to gain revenge on the Hulk and AIM. Abomination says he doesn't want to fight the Hulk anymore because it hurts too much. MODOK uses his mind beam to raise Abomination out of the cryogenic pit. He says that his mind probe reveals that Abomination was beaten so badly last time that he now fears the Hulk. General Ross is ticked because he committed treason and Abomination won't follow through. MODOK says that is nonsense. He will "re-educate this coward to the ways of power". MODOK then mindblasts Ross so that it looks like he resisted him. MODOK laughs as he and Abomination fade from the base. Later, Modok tells the Abomination to get up and fight. Abomination says he doesn't want to be hurt again. Modok says that he will show Abomination the true meaning of pain. The room starts to attack Abomination. Abomination says he would rather die than feel that kind of pain again. MODOK says that the pain will never end until he fights. Abomination freaks and rips the room apart. He says he will fight anyone but the Hulk. Modok tells Abomination that things are different as Banner's mind controls the Hulk now. Modok says that he will cause the Abomination to grow stronger the more he fears Modok.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #289- Abomination stands beside the Northwind Observatory dreading his orders to barge in and kill the Hulk. Abomination smashes through the wall and demands the Hulk. Bruce is stunned as the Sphere starts attacking Abomination. Abomination smacks the thing out of the air destroying it. As the Abomination advances on Bruce Kate shoots him with an ion-disrupter caging him within an ionic field. Bruce then realizes that Kate isn't just his assistant, but his keeper and watcher. Bruce powers up as the Abomination starts to break out of the field. Abomination is now afraid as Bruce is Hulk and turns to run, but he sees a giant image of MODOK who tells him to destroy the Hulk. Abomination says that nobody ever hurt him like MODOK did- even the Hulk. Abomination leaps and hits Hulk. Abomination thinks that maybe he can beat Hulk before he can get mad. Abomination is dominating the Hulk until Hulk sees Kate signaling to SHIELD. Bruce gets up and starts pounding on the Abomination until he begs for mercy. Kate tries to calm Bruce down. Abomination realizes how screwed he is. He dare not return to MODOK empty handed. He grabs Kate and leaps away.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #290- Abomination returns to MODOK's base with Kate Waynesboro to find that MODOK has been ousted by AIM. Abomination throws himself on the mercy of AIM, and says he'll work for them. AIM says that Abomination, like them, is free from MODOK's reign of terror. Later MODOK and Hulk team up to break into the base to stop AIM from using Kate as their new MODOK. Hulk goes on to save her, but MODOK stops to mindblast Abomination and intimidate him saying he will never be left alone again. MODOK and Hulk find that Kate is now MS. MODOK, and that she is attracted to MODOK. Hulk insults Ms. MODOK and MODOK mindblasts Hulk demanding an apology for his bride. Abomination tells Hulk to give in or MODOK might kill him. MODOK says that he will give Hulk a preview of his fate. MODOK shoots Abomination with a steady green beam until Abomination's atoms blow apart.
Code of Honor #3- (disclaimer- this appearance never should have been, but as it was made you have to suspend disbelief) Let's suppose for a bit that Mephisto wanted to try reconfiguring Abomination prior to his actually doing it in Secret Wars II #7. So this was just a test......hey I know it's grasping at straws, but I didn't edit the thing). While the cat is away the mice will play. During the Secret Wars most of the heavy hitters were missing from Earth, and many super-villains decided to take liberties. Two policemen arrive on the scene of an Abomination rampage. While equipped with special weapons from Susan Richards the police only manage to delay the Abomination. Abomination kills the policeman with the special weapon by crushing him with a police car. The other cop prepares to go down in the line of duty when Doc Samson comes in to save the day.
Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars II #7-Abomination is temporarily reconfigured by Mephisto in an attack on the Beyonder.
Incredible Hulk annual #15- Deep in space Abomination's atoms come in contact with Tyrannus' brain waves. They merge and crash into the New Mexico desert. SHIELD goes to the site because of the high gamma readings. The Abomination/Tyrannus emerges from the crater. Abomination/Tyrannus trashes SHIELD by throwing a rock, and smashing the ground. Abomination/Tyrannus walks up to one of SHIELD's agents and scans his mind. Abomination/Tyrannus leaps off. Abomination/Tyrannus lands inside Rio Vista. As the people run from him Abomination/Tyrannus notices how hideous his body is. Tyrannus feels Emil Blonsky inside his head trying to assert control, but Tyrannus keeps him repressed. The police shoot Abomination/Tyrannus in the back with a bazooka. Abomination/Tyrannus uses a lamppost to crush their car, but leaps away as he has something very important to do. Abomination/Tyrannus crashes into the lab with the nutrient bath and finds Bruce Banner, Rick, and Betty. Abomination/Tyrannus tells Bruce that he will help him separate his mind into the body of Emil Blonsky. Bruce refuses, but Abomination/Tyrannus starts to take Betty to a secret place to blackmail Bruce into helping him. Bruce changes into the Gray Hulk and hits Abomination/Tyrannus. Abomination/Tyrannus leaps at Hulk and they go crashing through all the floors into the basement. Gray Hulk tries to fight Abomination/Tyrannus, but his power isn't great enough and Abomination/Tyrannus knocks him out. Abomination/Tyrannus returns and takes Betty to a secret prison. He gives her 24 hours of air to breathe. Blonsky again tries to gain control, but Tyrannus holds him down again though it was much harder the second time. Abomination/Tyrannus goes about adjusting all the proper dials to make the separation work this time. As Abomination/Tyrannus gets in he tells Banner how to properly run the machine. As the process is working SHIELD enters the lab. Quartermain wants to kill Abomination/Tyrannus in the bath, but Bruce tries to stop him for Betty's sake. The gray Hulk stops SHIELD, but Abomination/Tyrannus emerges with Emil Blonsky under his arm. Tyrannus is still stuck in Abomination's body. Abomination/Tyrannus says that Betty is as good as dead. Gray Hulk attacks, and this time his anger gets so high that he knocks out Abomination/Tyrannus. SHIELD puts Abomination/Tyrannus into a nuero-neutralizer. Emil Blonsky staggers out to Bruce Banner. Emil says that it was fun at first, but he is relieved to be free of the Abomination. Emil tells Bruce where Betty is hoping the courts will go easier on him.
West Coast Avengers vol. 2 #25- Wonder Man’s new
movie premieres and afterwards he goes to the Carson show to do a
taping. After the taping Simon starts to make his way out when
suddenly Tyrannus, trapped in the body of the Abomination
arrives. Tyrannus/Abomination says that he should have been the
one to rule the world, but that since he cannot he doesn’t
want Wonder Man reveling in glory either. Simon’s head is
still big and he looks the other way. Tyrannus/Abomination
smashes into Simon, but Simon spins around and hits
Tyrannus/Abomination. Simon flies up to try ramming
Tyrannus/Abomination, but Tyrannus/Abomination leaps up and hits
him from behind. Tyrannus/Abomination smashes Wonder Man onto the
set of David Letterman’s show. Tyrannus/Abomination jumps
onto Simon and grabs him by the collar. Simon punches
Tyrannus/Abomination back. Simon grabs a light and wraps it
around Tyrannus/Abomination. Tyrannus/Abomination rips through
it, but the electrical shock hurts him. Wonder Man feels
energized by the jolt and hits Tyrannus/Abomination three
successive times and manages to knock him out.
Solo Avengers #12-
Abomination/Tyrannus comes gunning for Wonder Man.
Abomination is defeated by Hawkeye when he grabs the
Avenger's electrical exploding arrow.
Spider-Man Annual #23-Tyrannus' allies, Ghaur and
Llyra, arrange for Emil Blonsky to be reunited into
Abomination, and Tyrannus to be freed in the body of Emil
Blonsky. The Abomination is left savage. She-Hulk and Spider-Man
attempt to stop him. Abomination knocks Spider-Man unconscious.
She-Hulk pursues him only to be knocked out as well.
She-Hulk receives the mark of Set from Ghaur while out.
She-Hulk later manages to set Abomination on fire.
Abomination runs blind off a bridge into the water.
Marvel Super-Heroes vol. 3 #6- In Philadelphia (where Abomimation lived previously), the Abomination lifts a police car over his head. Abomination’s mind is restored. Abomination throws the car. He says that he is still kind of foggy since his mind returned so he runs off. Abomination crashes through a wall. Emil sees a mother with her little girl. The little girl is cowering so Emil tells her that he means her no harm. The little girl points behind Abomination. Abomination turns to see a Sentinel. The Sentinel says that it has come to collect Abomination. Abomination charges the Sentinel. The Sentinel knows that Abomination can be harmed by temperatures below –175 degrees. It blasts Abomination with a cold blast and carries away the frozen Abomination. Later after the X-Men go off to find the Sentinels Storm remains behind. She recalls a location where they study solar flares. The Sentinels tried to use solar flares to sterilize mankind. She goes there alone and finds Doc Samson and Abomination in tubes. Storm is defeated by Sentinels.
Marvel Super-Heroes vol. 3 #7- Storm wakes up in the tube next to Abomination and Samson. She hears that they kidnapped Abomination and Samson because of the gamma power within solar flares, and they will enable them to control them. The Sentinels inquire whether their plan will simply create more gamma beings. Number Two says that its findings show that everyone who gains gamma powers from gamma radiation was related at some point in their family tree so there is only a tiny statistic that will inherent powers. The experiment on regular humans what the effects will be. After they die the Sentinels remove the dead bodies and put Abomination and Samson inside. Storm breaks free and starts a rainstorm. The rain wakes Samson up. Storm wakes Abomination up also. Abomination tears into the Sentinels. Abomination hits the ground and rips a crevice into the ground. Abomination throws Sentinel number two in, but the Sentinel pulls Abomination in as well. The crevice seels up. After the X-Men show up, and Havok destroys the other Sentinels. After the X-Men and Samson leave the Abomination jumps out of the ground with Number Two’s head. Abomination meets Dr. Cynthia Chalmers. He is going to kill her, but she says she is already dying of cancer. Cynthia says she has the blueprints to build more Mark II Sentinels. She says she knows how to control them. If Abomination helps her build them he can have the Sentinels once she uses them to kill all mutants.
Marvel Super-Heroes vol. 3 #8- Abomination puts on the new and improved head of Number Two. Cynthia says that this will be her greatest achievement and that the world will remember her. Abomination asks why he is doing all the work. Cynthia says that she provided all the brains and that he was just the muscle. Cynthia then puts on a helmet and transfers her life force into Number Two giving it life. The Sentinel comes to life and flies away to conclude its project for sterilizing all mankind. Abomination must be knocked out as the rubble from the destroyed roof falls. Abomination wakes up this time shackled next to Rogue. The Sentinel fires the shot that will sterilize all humans. The X-Men show up and cut Abomination and Rogue loose. Storm does something to the entire Earth’s weather to save them. For some reason Abomination is out cold when she is finished.
