Flux

Benny Tibbets is Codename: Flux. He was a soldier in Desert Storm. His entire battalion was hit with a gamma bomb. Benny was the only survivor. Ben was lead to believe that the fault lay with Dr. Bruce Banner for selling his secrets of the gamma bomb to the Iraqis. Flux was used and manipulated by General Ryker as a test to throw up against the Hulk. After meeting Hulk he has come to the realization that what he had long suspected was true... his own men had bombed him and his friends.

Incredible Hulk vol. 3 #18- flashback- Private Benjamin Tibbets stands before General Ryker in training camp. Ryker tells Benny that he has been pegged for a special mission vital to the country. Later as Tibets is being subjected to gamma radiation he makes himself believe that Ryker is telling the truth that it is only low-level radiation. He tells him that this is for his country, his family, and his mother.
