Dr. Bruce
Banner was a pioneer in his field. His expertise was gamma
radiation. His greatest work soon caused him to become something
of a pioneer in the same way his knowledge made him a pioneer in
gamma radiation. Bruce became the first being to have his genetic
structure altered by gamma radiation. That exposure gave birth to
Banner's subconscious mind exposing his innermost demons to the
outside world. Many have followed in these footsteps, but none
have equalled the Incredible Hulk.

Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #312- flashback- Bruce smiles at his mother before she goes out. Nurse Meachum throws Bruce a doll that his mother left for him. When other kids learn to laugh Bruce learned loneliness.
Incredible Hulk #227-flashback-Bruce burning his hand as a child.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #312- flashback- Bruce sneaks down to the Christmas tree. Bruce places his doll on a present to keep a look out while he goes over to check out the presents. Bruce opens the present from his mother- an erector set. Bruce sets to work and builds something far beyond the scope of someone his age. When Guardian falls over Bruce's drunken father appears and kicks over Bruce's creation. He says no child should be able to build something like that. He figures the radiation from his work has affected Bruce's mind. Bruce's mother Rebecca tries to stop Brian, but is hit for her trouble. Brian hits his son and calls him a monster. Nurse Meachum comes down to take Bruce back upstairs. Bruce never sees his mother smile again.
Incredible Hulk vol. 3 #13- flashback- Like so many other nights Bruce is told to go to bed by his father. He watches them as they leave him all alone with the nurse downstairs.
Incredible Hulk vol. 3 #24- flashback- Bruce lies sick in bed with bronchitis. His mother stands next to him comforting him the entire night.

he repeatedly tells the prosector that he isn't lying. .
Incredible Hulk #-1- flashback- Brian Banner is overheard gloating about forcing Bruce to alter his testimony. Bruce watches as his father is dragged away screaming about how he will get him.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #227- flashback- Bruce gets confused in Mr. Woodman's class. He accidentally mixes the wrong ingredients, and his beaker flows over. Mr. Woodman yells at Bruce.

They were supposed to meet at the fountain at midnight, but Bruce never showed.

Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #-1- flashback- Bruce is working out mathematical problems as he proposes his original idea for the gamma bomb to destroy property, but not kill people. Ross says he was told to handle Bruce easy, but he can’t. Ross says he doesn’t need a feel good bomb he needs a bomb to put the fear of God in the enemy. Ross’ ramblings are interrupted as Bruce gets a phone call from his father. Later, Bruce stands at the hospital and sees his father again. Bruce argues with them that his father is not ready to be released yet. The doctor says it has been fifteen years and that they feel he is ready to be a productive member of society again. Later Brian thanks Bruce for taking him in. Bruce says he tries to be his father’s opposite, but he is curious how Brian fooled them. Brian reveals that he recalled things in therapy that his own father had done to him. Bruce says he had no idea. Still later Bruce is startled awake as his father is holding a large knife. Someone is knocking on the door. Bruce tells him to put the knife down. Bruce answers the door to find Ross there. Brian tries to introduce himself, but Ross tells the murderer to get out of his sight. Brian leaves. Bruce sort of sticks up for his father, but Ross leaves and tells him to be a man. On the anniversary of Rebecca’s murder Bruce tells Brian that he has been acting stranger and stranger. He says maybe Brian show go back to the hospital and leaves. Brian shouts that he must have gotten better in the hospital because Bruce wasn’t there. At Rebecca’s grave Brian attacks Bruce. Bruce kicks him back and splits Brian’s head open on a tombstone.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #312- flashback- Bruce comes for the first time to Desert Base. Bruce is shown his quarters. Bruce meets Betty Ross for the first time. She sees a picture of his mother, and sees Bruce's childhood doll Guardian. General Ross arrives and tells Banner to build him his bomb.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #247- flashback- Bruce stands at his mother and father's graves. He says he will miss them both.

Marvel Super-Heroes vol 2 #3- Hulk is forced by the Distorter, Dr. Stort, with hypnosis to destroy one of the army's experimental rockets. Hulk does but as he gets angrier fighting the control he gets stronger (and apparently less intelligent). Hulk defeats the Distorter.
Iron Man vol. 2 #11- flashback- In the Heroes Reborn universe Iron Man accidentally activates Dr. Doom’s time machine. They are sent back in time. The Hulk grabs Dr. Doom by the throat. Iron Man in his big cumbersome suit and Thor stands beside him. Iron Man says that the armored man that just appeared could be a friend of Loki’s. Hulk says that he will crush him and then find out. Heroes Reborn Iron Man blasts Hulk because he doesn’t want him killing his ticket back to his time. Stark tries to question them, but Doom and Stark disappear.
Avengers #280- flashback- The Hulk comes to Avengers' mansion and freaks out Jarvis. There they discuss the formation of the Avengers.
Avengers #1 1/2- The Avengers are contacted to bring in Doctor Doom. Hulk and Thor have friction. The Avengers are transported to Doom's ship. Hulk bursts through the wall. The Avengers are all seperated. Hulk is stuck in a slippery room that won't let him stand. Ant-Man turns into Giant-Man and helps Hulk out of the room. Hulk saves Iron Man from an energy sapping robot. Hulk tears through the floor and chases Doom. Hulk gets hold of Doom. The others try to talk him out of hurting Doom. Hulk tears his head off. Iron Man asks how Hulk knew it was a robot. Hulk responds with, "Robot?" The Avengers escapes Doom's ship before it explodes.
Tales of Suspense #49- Professor X tries to contact the Avengers, but at the time Bruce is in control so he recieves no message.
Avengers #267- The Hulk who was displaced by the Space Phantom in Avengers #2 is laid out by Hercules. Hulk is in a trance and does not fight back.
The Incredible Hulk vs. Superman- flashback- Banner spontaneously turns into Hulk. Hulk leaps away to look for food. Superman shows up to stop him. Hulk knocks Supes into a store. When Supey flies back at him Hulk knocks him into space. Hulk leaves with the food by the time Superman returns. Rick throws a pill down Hulk's throat to change him back into Bruce. Bruce meets Clark Kent. Luthor uses a robotic Hulk to lure Superman out. After Hulk destroys it Superman holds the real Hulk accountable. Supes knocks him through a rock, and then throws Hulk off several cacti. Hulk spits the needles at Supes. When Luthor uses Banner's new Gamma Gun Hulk realizes that Superman is right, and they team against him.
Journey Into Mystery #112- flashback- Thor and Hulk manage to seperate themselves from the others because of the force of their battle. Hulk starts trying ot hit Thor with a boulder. Thor protects himself with a dimensional disruption. Thor petitions Odin to allow him to fight the Hulk without his hammer. No longer enchanted Thor hurls the hammer at Hulk. Hulk catches it and decides to break it. The two tussle over the hammer, and Thor manages to put it back in its holster. Hulk throws a World War II mine at Thor which dazes the thunder god. Hulk goes to pulp Thor, but Thor rallies back. He starts pounding on Hulk, but pauses to see how he is doing. Immediately Hulk grabs Thor's wrists and begins to push him to the ground. Thor lifts Hulk into the air, but only until Hulk drives his knees into Thor's chest. Hulk throws Thor into the tunnel wall. The entire tunnel collapses breaking up the fight.
Incredible Hulk #7-(Sentry/Hulk- flashback)- The Hulk’s skin burns causing him to rampage. Hulk smashes into Fort Knox. Hulk looks up to see a light in the sky. The light was the Sentry. Sentry tells the Hulk to stop smashing things or he would be forced to fight him. Hulk throws a train at Sentry for his threat. The Sentry doesn’t budge. The golden glow from Sentry’s eyes surround the Hulk. Suddenly the Hulk becomes more docile. His skin no longer burns. Sentry tells Hulk that they are going to fix him. That they are going to make him well again. Sentry notices that his golden presence has an evolving effect upon Hulk.

Incredible Hulk #10- (Sentry/Hulk- flashback)- Hulk is living with Sentry inside the Watchtower. Hulk likes Sentry’s wife Lindy and his puppy. Hulk had been enjoying the food and company. In his time with “Golden Man” Bruce had learned to transform into the Hulk only when needed, and Bruce and Hulk and come to accept and embrace each other. Hulk and Sentry became heroes together. Hulk and Sentry encounter the Lobster People. Hulk empathized with the Lobster People’s fear and the hurt they felt from humans shunning them. The Lobster People trusted Hulk, but they were fearful of Sentry because of his more humanoid appearnce. Hulk pushes Sentry out of the way and takes the impact as the Lobster People try to blast Sentry. The recoil of the blast causes the dwelling to collapse. Hulk holds up the entire falling mountain as Sentry rushes the two young Lobster People to safety. The Lobster People cheer Hulk and Sentry, and for the first time Hulk feels acceptance.
Sentry/Hulk- flashback- Finally renowned as a hero the Hulk and Sentry sit in an open topped limo as the people at the parade cheer them on. Suddenly the Human Torch apperas and tells the Sentry that the Void has returned. Hulk senses Sentry’s fear. Hulk leaps behind Sentry to the Void. Hulk hears Void inside his mind saying, “Oh look it’s the emotionally stunted little golden boy and his big green playmate come to chase me away. Let’s see if you have what it takes Hulk. My enemy’s friend is my enemy. I’m going to drag you inside me freak, and pull you apart piece by screaming piece. For joining with the Sentry I’m going to make you pay!” Sentry says not if he has anything to do with it he won’t. Sentry blasts the Voied with light causing Void to scream. Void starts to overpower Sentry. Hulk leaps to Sentry’s aid, but Sentry shouts, “Hulk no! Don’t touch the tendrils!” Hulk tells Shadow Man to leave him alone, but it is too late. Hulk sees the entirity of his life- his horrible past, the gamma bomb explosion. Hulk sees his future; the endless cures he secretly will never try very hard to find, General Ross hunting him down, the death of Betty. He sees Mr. Fixit and the Devil Hulk. Hulk sees it all including his own death as he falls to the ground below. Void says, “I’m going to destroy you Hulk. I’m going to be the one who finally drags you into eternity of torment, and when you get there my big green friend I’m going to spit in your face. I will hate you forever because the Sentry loves you. Hulk crashes into a bus. For days Hulk wanders around waiting for Golden Man to return. Finally frustrated Hulk freaks and throws a tantrum.
Avengers #5- Betty Ross "finds" Bruce come back after his "illness". Banner witnesses the Lava Men pushing the Living Rock to the surface. Banner figures out that the Living Rock sends sound waves that act as a bomb. The size of the rock is big enough to destroy half the planet. Bruce hulks out. Hulk hears the Avengers and goes to confront them. The stone only has one weak spot and only Thor or Hulk can affect it. Thor is transformed back into Don Blake. The Avengers fight Hulk on top of the Rock. Wasp flies over the spot and when Hulk swings he misses her, but destroys the Rock. Betty later finds Bruce passed out in the desert.
Untold Tales of Spider-Man '97 annual- A man from city hall wants to talk to Banner about energy and radiation theories, but as Betty tells the man Bruce is out the Hulk leaps overhead.
Journey Into Mystery #112- Hulk grumbles to himself about how he will get Thor soon.
Avengers #17- It seems the Avengers want the Hulk to rejoin, but he is currently unable to be found. Leader transports the Hulk and the Absorbatron back to his hideout using his magnetic attractor-beam. Hulk bursts through the wall and chases Leader. The army shows up the find Bruce dead on the ground. One of the soldiers shot Banner in the head.
Tales to Astonish #78- Hulk returns to his time inside his cave. Hulk is spotted. Dr. Zaxon is brought in as Banner's replacement. Talbot takes after the Hulk and Hulk is gassed. Hulk keeps falling into holes that don't allow him to escape the gas. As Rick tells Betty the secret Talbot busts in and says he has captured the Hulk. Hulk is being kept in place by anti-matter beams. Dr. Zaxon comes to examine the Hulk. Betty and Rick sees Hulk in his cage. Zaxon's secret plan is to siphon off Hulk's power and use it to power a machine so that he can take over the world. Zaxon tells the troops guarding Hulk to leave. Dressed in some suit of armor Zaxon plans to shoot Hulk with an organic energy attractor which will sap Hulk's strength.
Tales to Astonish #79- Zaxon shoots Hulk. Hulk is weakened, but certainly not killed. Growing madder helps the Hulk's strength build. Hulk hits Zaxon that causes Zaxon to drop his lame gun. The gun goes off and kills Zaxon. Hulk runs away and the soldiers figure Hulk killed Zaxon. Hulk takes down the planes chasing him by tearing up railroad tracks and throwing them. This stops the train carrying Hercules and the fight is on. Hulk hits Hercules. Herc picks up a rock. Hulk smashes the rock in Hercules' hands. Herc headbutts Hulk's stomach and hits him. Herc is swinging Hulk around ready to throw him, but Hulk manages to hit Herc before he can let go. Hulk bearhugs Herc from behind. Herc pushes Hulk into a rocky hill and buries him. Hulk emerges holding a giant piece of rock. Hulk throws it, Herc catches it. For some reason the army tries to get in on the fight so Hulk leaves.
Tales to Astonish #80-Hulk wonders why humans fear and hunt him. He decides to give them something to fear. Hulk is teleported to Tyrannus' lair. Hulk bursts out of the machine and sees Tyrannus again. This time Tyrannus is ravaged by his age. Tyrannus offers the Hulk a place in his worls where he need not be feared and hunted. If Hulk will recapture his fountain of youth from Mole Man. Mole Man doesn't want the fountain for himself- he simply views it as a way to kill Tyrannus so that he might expand his own army for his next invasion of the surface world. Mole Man learns Hulk is helping Tyrannus and he deploys his robotic Octo-sapien. Hulk eats and gets some sleep. Tyrannus tries to wake Hulk, but Hulk doesn't budge. Tyrannus tries to blackmail Hulk by kidnapping Betty, Rick, and Glen Talbot. Not only doesn't it work, but Hulk fails to recognize them. Betty has a hard time believing that Hulk is really Bruce Banner. Further when Mole Man attacks Hulk does what he is told and fights him. Hulk seems to be going down against the Octo-sapien, but he grabs the machine and dives into some water causing it to explode. Bruce Banner emerges from the well.
Tales to Astonish #81- As Mole Man's troops battle on Bruce remembers that he must free Betty, Rick, and Glen. Bruce runs into Tyrannus. Bruce bullies the old man to tell him where Betty and ther others are. Tyrannus says that he returned them to the surface with his matter transmitter. Banner tries to get to the matter transmitter, but is jumped by Tyrannus' army because they hate surface dwellers. Bruce hulks out. Hulk remembers he wants to get to the science building but can't remember why. Hulk knocks over a giant statue of tyrannus as he goes. Hulk remembers only enough to lay down on the transmitter that sends him back to the surface.
Tales to Astonish #82- Hulk wakes up from the transmitter in a missile testing range. Hulk hides when soldiers come by looking for him. The Secret Empire had Boomerang kidnap Betty so they could trade her for the Orion missile. Hulk happens by Boomerang with Betty. Hulk hears Betty and chases Boomerang. Boomerang puts Betty down to fight. Boomerang's gravity discs hold Hulk to the ground. His electric boomerang shocks Hulk, but doesn't stop him. Boomerang grabs Betty and runs. Hulk leaps after him. The army hears of Boomerang and Hulk and goes to get into it. Boomerang realizes that Hulk isn't going to stop. He throws Betty to him, and jumps in a helicopter.
Tales to Astonish #83- When it starts raining Hulk digs a hole in the side of the mountain for Betty to have shelter. Betty realizes that Hulk isn't going to hurt her. Boomerang having failed to capture Betty decides to go after the Orion missile they wanted to ransom her for. Hulk makes a fire for Betty, but is attacked when he goes out to find food. Number Nine of the Secret Empire kills all but Number One in the organization. Hulk grabs Rick Jones and Thunderbolt Ross and takes them to Betty. Betty tells Ross that he saved her from Boomerang. Hulk leaps away angry.
Tales to Astonish #84- Hulk decides that since he saved Betty he won't be hated anymore. Hulk goes to look for Betty, but finds Gamma Base deserted. Hulk then decides the Avengers will help him so he starts leaping towards Avengers Mansion. Hulk needs clothes so he smashes a window and takes the extra large trenchcoat and hat on display. A cop sees Hulk and they start chasing Hulk. Hulk ducks into a theater where Namor is causing a commotion. Hulk sees a newsreel that shows Talbot saving the Orion missile from Boomerang. Hulk realizes that was why nobody was at the base. Rick hears Hulk is in New York, and gets a job driving someone's car there. The shifty guy tells Rick not to open the trunk. Hulk's cover is blown. Hulk runs and accidentally hits the third rail breaking it. Hulk saves the oncoming train by stopping it. People call him a menace as he runs.
Amazing Spider-Man annual #3- The Avengers want to offer Spider-Man membership, but make a test for him. Spider-Man has to find a way to bring Hulk to the Avengers. Spider-Man finds Hulk near a gamma ray research center. Spidey tells Hulk to come with him, but Hulk just smashes through the wall. Spidey dodges, but Hulk leaps after him. Spidey dodges again and the Hulk plows into the gamma building. Spidey tries kicking Hulk's leg. Hulk grabs Spidey in a bearhug. Spidey gives a double chop to Hulk's back. Hulk doesn't feel it, and throws Spider-Man through a wooden crate. Hulk swings at Spider-Man, but misses and punches a hole through a gamma ray shielding wall. The gamma rays transform Hulk into Bruce. Bruce tells Spider-Man who he is, and tells him to run. Bruce hulks out. Spidey hits Hulk as hard as he can. He staggers Hulk, and then webs him up all over. Spidey decides that maybe he is wrong to imprison Hulk, but before he can untie Hulk Hulk breaks through the webbing. Hulk bats away Spider-Man and goes to leave. Spider-Man decides that Hulk is just childlike not evil. He tells the Avengers to forget it.
Tales to Astonish #85- Namor regains his memory and destroys the radio device the Secret Empire gave him. Leader of the Secret Empire sees the Hulk still in New York. Hulk leaps away from the people. The moron from Secret Empire is in the room Hulk leaps to. He assumes that Hulk is after him, and sets a bomb to destroy the place. Moron Number One catches his lame robe in the door, and is killed by the explosion. Hulk leaps away (some threat). Hulk leaps to the top of a building, but is knocked off. Hulk starts throwing cars until Rick Jones drives up. Hulk leaves with him. The guy whose car Rick drove activates the robot in the trunk. Apparently its purpose was to attract the Orion missile. Hulk defeats the robot, and when the Orion missile shows up Hulk leaps onto it. Hulk transforms back into Banner.
Tales to Astonish #86- Banner, who knows the rocket because he designed it, alters the missile's path into the sea. Bruce hulks out right after, and jumps off. The police discover the Leader's hidden base. They find a humanoid designed just to beat Hulk. Ross brings in a guy to animate the humanoid (apparently he forgot about Hulk saving Betty). The humanoid walks out despite Ross' wishes. Rick finds Hulk and they hide. The army can't stop the humanoids and Talbot begins to question if this was a good idea. Hulk runs into the humanoid and attacks it. The humanoid knocks Hulk down.
Tales to Astonish #87- Hulk keeps hitting the humanoid, but like regular humanoids, it isn't affected. The guy who tried to destroy New York with the Orion missile clears Hulk. Hulk leaps into the humanoid to see if he is vulnerable in the air, but the humanoid hollows himself out and he floats. Rick eventually gets through, but is struck by the humanoid. For some reason this causes Hulk to change into Hulk. This leaves the humanoid with no foe. The army fights him as Banner plans to use some sort of counter-intelligence to stop the humanoid. Banner gets a machine and purposely turns into the Hulk. Hulk lifts the machine that short circuits the humanoid. Hulk falls to the ground after saving everyone.
Tales to Astonish #88- Boomerang hits Hulk with a tiny exploding device making it look like Hulk is getting angry for no reason. Hulk smacks aside Rick Jones and gets leaps away. Boomerang follows. The president had sent Ross the ability to grant Hulk amnesty, but after he raged Ross tore the letter up. Hulk sees Boomerang. Hulk chases him. Boomerang uses a blast disc on the hillside. Hulk punches the falling rock. Boomerang blasts the ground beneath Hulk burying him. Hulk throws the rock off and leaps up. Boomerang uses a gas disc. Hulk feels weak so Boomerang hits him. Hulk isn't quite that weak and backhands Boomerang. Boomerang explodes the dam, and flies ahead of it to gloat. Hulk hits Boomerang and breaks his jet boots, and his leg. Hulk is fighting the change. He grabs Boomerang and leaps up grabbing a ledge before the rush of water hits. But Hulk starts to transform into Banner and cannot hold Boomerang who falls into the rushing water below. Banner passes out once up.
Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #393- flashback- Hulk fights with the military. Hulk leaps away from General Ross and his troops. As Hulk lands he crushes the car of Coyote Cash. Coyote is arrested by the blockade he had just broken through.
Tales to Astonish #89- While Banner sleeps the Stranger shows. Stranger awakens Banner. He has been watching the Earth and doesn't like what he sees. Hatred and war towards their fellow man Stranger decides to use Hulk to destroy civilization. Stranger brings a machine that will strengthen him and make Hulk obey his will. Bruce hulks out and tries to stop Stranger, but Stranger's power causes Hulk to obey him.
Strange Tales #156- The Hulk, with the rest of Earth's heroes, listens to an announcement from Hydra that they are prepares to release the Death Spore into the Earth's atmosphere.
Tales to Astonish #92- The Hulk and Banner have been missing since the Abomination fight. A disguised Banner sneaks ingredients into his apartment. Bruce is trying to create a cure for himself. Bruce tries to harness the gamma rays from the skies. Banner fails and is so upset he tranforms into Hulk. Hulk busts out of the apartment, and is spotted. Hulk wishes he could get away from people. He wishes to go to the stars. Hulk sees Surfer and leaps to go after him. Surfer knocks Hulk down. Hulk manages to grab Surfer's board, though he cannot see it. Surfr knocks Hulk off and goes to confront him.
Tales to Astonish #93- Hulk takes a swing at Surfer, but Surfer dodges easily. Surfer blasts Hulk's face. Surfer tells Hulk that he can no longer leave the Earth, but Hulk doesn't catch on so Surfer blasts him again. Hulk hits Surfer. Surfer calls his board and hits Hulk in the face with it. Surfer takes off, but sees Hulk is being attacked by police now. Surfer goes back and pulls Hulk out. Hulk asks again that Surfer take him to a different world. Of course Surfer can't but he takes Hulk somewhere safe. Hulk knocks Surfer off the board and tries to ride it. Surfer tries to shake Hulk off the board, but winds up having to blast him. Hulk starts hurling rocks at Surfer. Surfer blasts Hulk. Surfer probes Hulk's mind to learn his secret. Hulk hits Surfer. Surfer has had enough of it and leaves. Hulk says someday he'll make Surfer take him to the stars (not to quick on the uptake).
Tales to Astonish #94- Hulk runs arcoss two men hunting and talking about the "New Man". Hulk asks them who that is, but they just run. The men call for the High Evolutionary. The High Evolutionary tells them to use the special rifle he gave them to stun the Hulk and send Hulk to him. The Evolutionary needs Hulk to defeat his New Men (evolved animals). The two guys gas Hulk. They transport Hulk to H.E. Hulk wakes up and attacks Sir Ram knocking him out. Hulk realizes he is in space.
Tales to Astonish #95- Hulk hears High Evolutionary trying to contact Sir Ram because their ship is in danger. Hulk can't figure out how to respond so he just smashes it. Hulk finds Sir Ram who tells Hulk that the ship is heading through a cosmic storm. Sir Ram saves the ship, but collapses from the rays. Hulk transforms back into Banner. High Evolutionary saw the change through a view screen. Banner meets High Evolutionary, but when Banner turns H.E. shoots Banner with a vacuum ray that will prevent Banner from changing until H.E. wishes it. High Evolutionary decides instead of getting Hulk's help he will simply evolve Banner into a version of a human a million years from now.
Tales to Astonish #96- The New Men break in before H.E. can do his experiment. H.E. frees Bruce and allows him to transform. H.E. uses a powerful barrier to protect himself. He asks why Bruce hasn't transformed yet, but runs off in disgust to fight the New Men when Banner hesitates. One of the New Men attack Bruce because he is human. Bruce hulks out. As Hulk fights the New Men a dying H.E. performs his evolving process on himself. H.E. becomes a being of great power. Before he goes to be one with the cosmos he regresses the New Men back into animals. He also makes it as though he never existed and Hulk is back on Earth wishing he could go to the stars.
Tales to Astonish #97- Hulk accidentally hits a low flying jet while leaping. Hulk saves the pilot from the wreckage and leaps to safety. Hulk puts a splint on the man's leg. The man awakens and tells Hulk that the Living Lightening could use him. Hulk takes the man and jumps to the Living Lightening. Ross takes Talbot off the Hulk case in order to put him on the Living Lightening case. The doors to the LL base open and two cannons blast Hulk with lightening. Hulk breaks one, but the other pins Hulk. After the Living Lightening hears why the man brought Hulk to him he proclaims the hulk be freed because he is their friend. Hulk is fooled with promises of friendship and peace. Talbot is captured. Talbot shouts at Hulk and LL uses it to sic the Hulk on the Gamma Base.
Tales to Astonish #98- Hulk starts destroying the missile base. The Living Lightening and his followers follow and try to take over the base. The army finally gases Hulk, but by then the LL has taken control of the base. Ross goes to his office to face him. LL wants Ross to surrender the base to him on a nation-wide broadcast. He shows Betty held prisoner with the unconscious Hulk.
Tales to Astonish #99- Hulk awakens in the cell with Betty. The Living Lightening tries to convince Hulk that Betty is his enemy. Betty says that LL is so Hulk throws him against the wall. LL gives the command to get rid of the Hulk. The guy shoots Hulk and beats him! (It's still better than the snake). Hulk transforms into Bruce. Talbot knocks out a LL follower and dresses in his clothes. Before LL can shoot Hulk someone noticed Talbot escaped and apparently it would take to long to shoot Banner. Talbot starts shooting and causes the LL to withdraw. Talbot calls Banner a traitor for the millionth time. Bruce says Hulk could stop them before the LL launches his missiles. Ross takes Bruce to a rebuilt version of the gamma ray machine the Abomination ruined. Bruce transforms. Hulk is mad that the lader lied to him and he takes off to destroy their base. Hulk destroys all the missiles and that destroys the entore base. Hulk is left buried.
Tales to Astonish #100- Namor sees Hulk in trouble and thinks that if he could save Hulk that he could become a powerful ally. But at that moment the Puppet Master decides to use the Hulk as his pawn against Namor. Puppet Master has Hulk smash out of the landslide. Again Ross seems willing to give Hgulk a chance, but under Puppet Master's control hulk hits Rick Jones and leaps away. Hulk finds Namor. Namor offers his alliance, but Hulk is forced to attack him. Namor hits Hulk, but they are on land and Hulk knocks Namor down. Namor gets Hulk to chase him, but Hulk catches him before he reaches the water. Namor hits him, but Hulk launches Namor out to sea. Puppet Masters yells inside Hulk's head. Namor has to try hard to slow himself down. Namor manages to land in water. He eventually returns and knocks Hulk into the water. Namor pummels Hulk until Hulk grabs him and leaps out of the water. The two battle back and forth. Namor flies away and Hulk leaps to follow. Hulk accidentally hits a helicopter. Namor saves the pilot. The Puppet Master tells Hulk to kill him, but Hulk doesn't want to kill and fights the control. At that moment Namor senses Hulk is troubled. He takes advantage by getting the Hulk to leap at him. Namor traps Hulk in a vortex of water. Puppet Master's lab is flooded. Namor dizzies the confused Hulk and then sucker punches him. Namor finds Banner washed up in shore asleep, but leaves.
Tales to Astonish #101- Banner wakes on the ocean floor only to be turned into the Hulk by Loki. Loki then teleports Hulk to the Rainbow Bridge. Heimdall attacks Hulk. Hulk smashes the Rainbow Bridge causing it to wobble until Heimdall falls off. Hulk leaps into Asgard. Hogan challenges Hulk and provides him an axe. Hulk slams his hands together destroying the axe and knocking Hogun off his horse. Fandral and Volstagg join the fight. Hulk lifts Volstag and his horse with one hand. Hulk asks wher he is, and Fandral catches on that Hulk is an innocent. Loki tries to further the fight, but nobody bites. Hulk goes with the Warriors Three, but when he leaps over a bottomless chasm Loki transforms him into Banner leaving him to fall.
Avengers #51- The Collector views Hulk's last sighting, entering Asgard, with his Cosmic Viewer.
