Goblin, Guardian, and Glow
While not
technically a personality of Bruce Banner Glow, Guardian, and
Goblin represent a triad that took the place of Bruce Banner's
mind when he withdrew within the Hulk committing psychic suicide.
Glow originated as a star above Bruce's crib as a baby. Glow was the symbol associated with joy and comfort. Guardian was the doll that his mother gave him. Guardian was Bruce's watchman- to keep him safe. Goblin had no early form save for the images of his father yelling or others showing him anger or bitterness. Later in life they took other forms. Glow represented Bruce's ability to reason. Guardian represented Bruce's self-preservation. Goblin was the representation of Bruce Banner's rage. Since Bruce would never let them out they internalized.
When Bruce withdrew into his own mind the Hulk was transformed into the Mindless Hulk, a creature who seemingly had the intelligence of an animal. Yet each time this Mindless Hulk ventured out he seemed to learn a little more. When it seemed as though the Mindless Hulk was taking over, and the Hulk's previous mental health guide turned out to be a fiend Guardian, Glow, and Goblin were released by Bruce Banner and the Hulks to prevent the Mindless Hulk from taking over. The Triad helped the Mindless Hulk to think, and eventually caused Bruce Banner to resurface and bring back the Savage persona.
