She-Hulk

Jennifer Walters, cousin to Robert Bruce Banner, was the recipient of a gamma powered blood transfusion. The gamma within her cousin's bloodstream transformed Jennifer into the She-Hulk. Savage She-Hulk #13- Jen has a nightmare where her father, Buck, and Zapper all hold a trial pronouncing her guilty of only caring about herself, and her career. Feeling alone Jen calls Richard down in Florida. Richard says he is a little busy, but before he can tell her that he is talking to aliens she hangs up on him feeling more alone. In the morning Jen walks out the other door as Zapper rings her doorbell with flowers. He leaves a note. Richard sells the radio station, that he sunk all his money into, back to his old boss for $5000, but takes with him the tape of him talking to Man-Wolf, the Star-God, in another realm. Jen goes to visit her mother's gravesite. She says she can't live with herself anymore than everyone else who has left her. She says that she won't forget that she and her friend both believed in her. Suddenly Garth, Gorjoon, and a wizard arrive out of thin air looking for the She-Hulk. Jen is stunned, but decides she wants to fight. She transforms and starts throwing them around. The wizard puts his handless arms in the air, and uses Hellcat's cloak that he wears to teleport more warriors of the Star-God to fight her. She pounds them all, but when she grabs the Shadow cloak the old man disappears within it. She-Hulk takes the cloak with her as she runs from the police sirens. The old man returns to Hellcat. He says She-Hulk has the cloak and they are all doomed because though they don't know how she is connected She-Hulk is the key to stopping the destruction of their realm. Jen returns home and finds Zapper flowers and a note saying he loves her. The doorbell rings and it is Richard Rory. The doorbell rings again and it's Zapper. Zapper sees Richard and storms off. Zapper sees through the window that Richard is giving Jen a necklace. He doesn't know that Jen forgot it in Florida and that it was her mother's. It turns out the Man-Wolf's dimension is within the necklace.

Savage She-Hulk #14- Jen unburdens all of her problems (except that she is the She-Hulk) to Richard. When she is finished they discover that it is dawn just like their first date, but this time Jen did all the talking. Mrs. Ridge, Zapper's mother, knocks on the door and says Zapper has been gone since last night. Jen takes Mrs. Ridge's car to look around, and drops Richard off downtown to look for a job. Lambert, the wizard, puts Hellcat back in touch with the cloak. Their universe is turning into a black hole, and they need Man-Wolf. Meanwhile Zapper, and all the other patrons, are being held captive in a bar by the warriors of the Star-God that got stuck on Earth. Jen enters the bar to find they are putting Zapper on a "bucking bronco" barrel game. Zapper is thrown off. They decide to put Jen in the barrel with Zapper on top. Hellcat emerges from the cloak in Jen's apartment. Jen changes into the She-Hulk and shatters the barrel. She-Hulk starts smacking the warriors around. Hellcat teleports to She-Hulk. She decides to join in the fight against She-Hulk. Hellcat knocks She-Hulk into the cape teleporting her to Lambert. Zapper notices the necklace on the ground and picks it up. She-Hulk couldn't be teleported to Lambert, and Lambert figures out that their realm is located within She-Hulk. She-Hulk is falling in some strange realm. She notices Man-Wolf standing on a rock and grabs hold of it. Man-Wolf senses that She-Hulk and his realm are one. She-Hulk is just ticked and starts punching. Hellcat teleports in and explains that Man-Wolf's realm is inside She-Hulk's bloodstream. She-Hulk says it's crazy, but she won't smash anyone. Man-Wolf teleports to his realm through the cloak. She-Hulk lifts a jewel above her head. Man-Wolf uses his God-Stone to shoot the realm out of her blood through the jewel. Hellcat wants to leave before the realm explodes, but She-Hulk says she has to stay (they don't know that Man-Wolf already succeeded). Suddenly on Earth Zapper slams the necklace he thinks Richard gave Jen on the ground. The energy that was in the realm (inside the necklace) disappears. She-Hulk leaps into Hellcat's cape and finds Zapper there with the broken necklace. She-Hulk realizes that the realm was in the necklace. She-Hulk kisses Zapper for saving her life. She-Hulk tells Zapper that she loves him.

Savage She-Hulk #15- She-Hulk and Zapper drive to his parent’s beach house. She-Hulk says she is on vacation today. She-Hulk pulls Zapper’s stuck surfboard out of the car. She-Hulk says there is only one board. Zapper says that they get to double up. They jump in the ocean and She-Hulk swims pushing the board like a motor does a boat. They head on shore to eat. Zapper skips a rock, and tells She-Hulk to try hitting the buoy out there. She not only hits it, but breaks it. She-Hulk and Zapper start making out on the beach. Later they drive back to the house. Zapper spots his father’s car. He asks She-Hulk to change to Jen. She refuses at first, but then does it. Once inside they say hello. Zapper’s father tells Jen that he is being sued by one of the poor people he tried to help at free clinic. She claims he misdiagnosed her. Jen says she will represent him. Later Zapper drops off Jen at her house. He suggests a pizza, but she says that she has been up for thirty hours and is tired. Zapper says something flip about Richard Rory. Inside Richard asks if Jen was with Zapper. She yells at him that he doesn’t own her, and goes to bed. Later Jen apologizes to Richard. She asks him to a nightclub where the girl who is suing Zapper’s father is performing. The girl apparently stinks at singing. Jen meets Dahlia, but when she finds out Jen is Dr. Ridge’s attorney she storms off. The next day Jen talks to Dr. Ridge. She goes out and talks to the band Dahlia claimed she was the lead singer for. The band says she was a back up singer only, and that she was nuts. A diabetic who ate tons of sugar. Jen talks to Dahlia’s father and he says that Dahlia never had any singing talent. Jen goes to see Dahlia at her house. She tries to make her see that she is responsible for her failure. Later Dr. Ridge tells Jen to settle with Dahlia since she needs some money. Jen says that would only feed Dahlia’s delusions that she was right, but Dr. Ridge insists. Jen gets a call from Dahlia that her financial backing is gone, and that she has decided to kill herself. Jen tries to hurry to her. Jen’s cab gets stuck in traffic. She hulks out and forces the driver onto the sidewalk. A train blocks the way so she leaps over it. She-Hulk finds Dahlia and revives her. She carries her to the hospital, but has to run from the police.

Savage She-Hulk #16- She-Hulk spots a guy sneaking around nervously, and decides to follow him. She wonders if she should bother stopping him, but when she sees him lighting dynamite she pushes him aside and throws the dynamite into the air. She-Hulk grabs the guy before he can run away. The guy explains that the building is a day care center, and since it is night no one would have been hurt. He explains that the microwave tower is killing the children, and nobody he has told will do anything about it. The police arrive and the guy runs for it. The police assume She-Hulk is chasing the guy. She-Hulk leaps from rooftop to rooftop. She-Hulk loses the cops, but transforms into Jen Walters to be less conspicuous. Jen says she feels the She-Hulk wanting to come out. Jen says she wishes she were the She-Hulk all the time. The next day Jen is late getting into work because being the She-Hulk drains her. A man without an appointment arrives in her office. It is the man from the rooftop last night. He explains to her about how harmful the microwaves are and that his health is suffering. Jen says that she will look into his case and let him know. As she looks into it she gets a warning against her career to stay away from the case. Jen’s father also yells at her saying it would adversely affect the police and fireman not to have the microwave tower. Jen says that this reads like a conspiracy and decides to take the case. The trial day arrives. The power company’s has a suit that transmits microwaves. They show how they can cook things, but also how low-level microwaves are harmless. Jen rebuts that it’s fine for the short term, but constant radiation (like the sun) is harmful. The tower is kept up. Later Jen is talking with her clients when some loud mouth comes over harassing Jen. Jen’s client decks the guy. Jen’s father tells Jen that she is on her own from now on. Later Richard Rory cheers Jen up. The loudmouth steals the microwave suit. He starts bathing Jen and Richard in harmful microwaves. Jen thinks she sees someone and turns into the She-Hulk. They start fighting. She-Hulk survives full power from the suit. She tears it off and recognizes the guy. He says he turned the tower up to full power. She-Hulk rushes there, but is getting weaker and weaker by the moment. She must save the kids. She-Hulk destroys the tower. The man from that first night sees her and thanks her. Later Jen turns down her legal fees because the people need the money more.

Savage She-Hulk #17- Jen over hears her father telling Buck Bukowski that he wants big posters of the She-Hulk put up to remind everyone of her threat. Buck sees Jen and excuses himself. He starts ribbing her as usual, but now that Jen doesn’t have to worry about her anger turning her into She-Hulk, she lays into him telling him what an ass he is. On the cab ride over Jen says that it seems like it was the She-Hulk telling Buck off. At home Richard tells Jen that some people were in her house, but that he got their license plate number. Jen finds out that the number belongs to a real estate agent. Jen thinks that her father would never sell without telling her. Manfred Haller, owner of a hydraulics company has designed the Man-Elephant suit to bring in the She-Hulk. He appears on television to say he is bringing She-hulk in. His suit provides body armor and his tusks are weapons. He challenges She-Hulk to a fight on television. Richard Rory tells Jen about it. Jen thinks to herself that she has better things to do. Zapper catches Jen making goo goo eyes at Richard. Richard and Zapper start arguing. Zapper storms off and Jen goes after him. Jen catches Zapper and says that what happened was between Zapper and She-Hulk not her. Jen hulks out to prove it to Zapper. She-Hulk starts making out with Zapper. They drive off together, but happen upon the place where Man-Elephant is waiting for She-Hulk. She-Hulk says that she isn’t going to let her temper get the best of her, but Man-Elephant uses sonic trumpets to attack her. She-Hulk goes at him. Man-Elephant snaps a telephone pole and tries to hit She-Hulk. She-Hulk leaps over his swing. She-Hulk shatters the pole. She keeps proving herself superior to the lame suit until Manfred uses a gas out of his trunk. Elsewhere Buck finds out the truth about the day Jen Walters’ friend died in that car, and how his interference killed her. Buck clears She-Hulk with Jen’s father. The Man-Elephant arrives with the unconscious She-Hulk. She-Hulk wakes up and the fight starts over. Sheriff Walters stops the fight saying She-Hulk has been cleared of all charges. She-Hulk shows no gratitude to Walters and leaves. Later Jen runs into Buck. She says that surely he can find someone else to hate now that She-Hulk is innocent. Buck says he already has…himself. When she gets home Richard has his bags packed, and tells her that her father is selling the house. Richard says goodbye and leaves.

Savage She-Hulk #18- Jen sits brooding about how things are always going against her, and that her father didn’t even tell her that he was going to sell the house. Jen cheers up a little when her insurance finally pays off and she is able to buy a new car. She gets to her office and calls the real estate agency selling her father’s house. The man says he is glad she called because Jen’s father wanted her to have a week to buy the house before it went on the market. Jen gets a visit from Lou Monkton. He gives her five thousand dollars to defend him against a suit from the union on an injury case. She takes the check and calls about buying her father’s house. Jen finally starts feeling up. The day of the trial is very soon, and Jen would have lost but Buck Bukowski is still to down on himself to do his job well. Later Jen hears that Monkton dreamt up this lawsuit as a way to give a legal bribe to the labor union. Jen says that she has to return the money before her father cashes the check. Jen gets a call from Michael Morbius. He starts to say something about the She-Hulk, but the line goes dead. Jen decides she better go see if Morbius needs help. Jen starts driving over, but traffic stops when the Grappler knocks over an armored car. Jen hulks out. While Grappler babbles his life story She-Hulk tells the guards to move to safety. Grappler tosses She-Hulk around as he asks her what her good deeds have gotten her. She-Hulk decides to join up with Grappler to solve Jen’s money problems. But then She-Hulk changes her mind saying that she doesn’t want to take the easy way out. Grappler flips She-Hulk. Grappler says he has what he came for. He shoots his staff’s line out onto his passing plane and flies away. He tells She-Hulk his offer for partnership still stands. She-Hulk leaps after the plane and captures Grappler. She has him land on the freeway where the cops arrest him. She-Hulk heads to Morbius, but turns into Jen. Jen finds out that Morbius was supposedly taken to prison. Jen says as his lawyer she would have been notified. The next day Jen gives Monkton his money back, but continues to defend him. She gets him a “not guilty” verdict and he can’t giver the union his legal bribe. Jen explains to her father in a letter why she had to cancel the check, but Morris’ girlfriend/real estate agent is a moneygrubber and withholds the letter to get Morris mad enough to sell his house. Jen broods about the inadequatcies of the law. The guy Zapper gave She-Hulk’s blood sample to introduces Zapper to a group that wants to help mankind. They convince Zapper to help them recruit She-Hulk for her mutated cells they need for research.

The ship lands and Man-Killer, with a bunch of like-minded women, attack the police. Spider-Man engages Man-Killer and Jen thinks that maybe she won’t need to turn into the She-Hulk. Jen is stunned as Spider-Man accidentally falls through into a car marked “Lemon”. While Jen watches Man-Killer’s women grab Hildy. Jen goes to transform, but gets hit on the head with the butt of a rifle. Jen is knocked out. When she wakes up Jen yells at Spider-Man for goofing around too much. Jen studies the locations of militant feminists’ properties to try and figure where Hildy may have been taken. Jen finds the warehouse, and then concentrates to make the change to She-Hulk. She-Hulk bursts in. One of Man-Killer’s women shoots She-Hulk with an electro-magnetic gun, but She-Hulk is unfazed. Spider-Man happens along as She-Hulk is threatening her. Zapper says that he still gets a weird feeling about the people he met even though they supposedly want to use She-hulk to cure cancer. Zapper finds She-Hulk in his car. She tells him to drive. She says that he is the only one she can trust. Jen’s father tells Buck to get Jen disbarred. Zapper drives She-Hulk to the place pretending he needs something there. When he leaves they gas She-Hulk unconscious while she waits in the car. The bad guys assure Zapper and send him on his way. They say they want to use She-Hulk to fix the problem with the doctor’s serum that will make an army of monsters to follow him. They put She-Hulk in a cold silicone cocoon. She-Hulk wakes up saying, “Dad?…where?” She-Hulk breaks the silicone. The bad guys turn up the heat hoping to dehydrate her, and they also start to spin her by her still trapped feet. She-Hulk breaks out and spots her tormentors. The doctor takes his serum that will make people into monsters and jabs it into the guy who did She-Hulk’s blood work for Zapper. The guy brings She-Hulk into his café and gives her some coffee. He tells her that everyone isn’t against her. She-Hulk says that it costs a lot when you trust the wrong people though. She gets lost in thought, but when she realizes people are staring at her she yells at them. The guy tells She-Hulk she needs a vacation or a shrink. She-Hulk returns to her house to get some things for a trip. She finds Zapper and Richard arguing. Zapper takes hold on She-Hulk’s arm saying she is using She-Hulk like an alcoholic would use alcohol. She-Hulk knocks Zapper off. Richard says that maybe they deserve her anger, but it doesn’t mean Zapper is wrong. Richard suggests that Jen tell her father that she is the She-Hulk. She-Hulk says that he would never listen. She trashes her dresser and leaves. She-Hulk gets in Jen’s car and drives away. She gets on the highway. A smile comes over her face as she pushes the car to 100 mph. She gets off the road to get gas. She puts the gas in herself, but goes in to complain. She finds the clerk tied up and robbed. She goes back out and her car is driving away. She leaps in front and gets in her car. She tells the other guy to get over while she chases the other getaway car down. She-Hulk catches the car and rips the motor out. Sheriff Walters finds out what Jen did to the house. Richard tells Morris that his daughter is the She-Hulk. Morris hits Richard and throws he and Zapper out. She-Hulk rips up Jen’s license plate and drives away so the police can’t trace it to Jen.

Savage She-Hulk #21- She-Hulk sits enjoying some quiet. She realizes that she is enjoying taking the law into her own hands, and that she is self-serving. She-Hulk then decides that she has to be self-serving because only she knows what she needs and she is the only one who won’t betray her. She-Hulk drives off unaware that she is being watched. She-Hulk stops to shop for clothes. The saleswomen run out screaming. She-Hulk picks out some clothes, but she rips the sleeves off to fit her style. She leaves the money and walks out. She tells them to get him to Sheriff Walters. She says that he has info Walters wants, and tells them to make sure he knows that it is a gift of the She-Hulk. Later as She-Hulk drives along she realizes that her car has been taken control of. She-Hulk jams on the brakes, and somebody flies off the roof of her car. She follows the guy to “The Arena”, a construction site that serves as a gangster meeting place. The Shade orders the Seeker to destroy the She-hulk to prove his superiority so the others will realize that he is the new boss. Seeker blasts She-Hulk. Seeker beats She-Hulk, but is distracted by a power box. She-Hulk wakes up and destroys the power box with a rock. She-Hulk tricks Seeker into using his blasts to bury himself under the building being erected. She-Hulk chases the mobsters as they get in their car and leave. She-Hulk says that if the mob wants a war they’ll get one.

Savage She-Hulk #22- The mob is having a war and whoever kills the She-Hulk gets control of the rackets. She-Hulk is still tired and injured from her battle with the Seeker. A car drives at her. She-Hulk stops it, but doesn’t crush it because of her injuries. The driver gets out saying they were just trying to get away. He shoots She-Hulk, but the bullets bounce right off. She-Hulk throws the guy in the trash. She-Hulk is gonna get the other guys in the car, but the cops show up. She-Hulk runs off because she is in no mood to talk to the police. Later She-Hulk is driving along not feeling free the way she thought she would. She thinks of Richard and Zapper. She also feels guilty for keeping Jen in. She-Hulk gets bored with thinking and decides to lie out in the sun. While she lies down Radius attacks her. Radius says that he has been sent by Shade to kill her. She-Hulk throws a rock at Radius. He vibrates the molecules of the rock until it explodes. She-Hulk tries to hit Radius, but he vibrates himself a force field. Radius vibrates the ground and brings She-Hulk closer to him. She-Hulk pulls the ground up and knocks Radius over. Radius tries his powers on She-Hulk, but She-Hulk’s cells are special and he fails. She-Hulk hits him. She tries to follow up, but radius puts up his force field again. She-Hulk keeps pounding on the field until Radius back flips away from her. He says that he has been holding back because he wanted to defeat her before killing her. Radius affects the air molecules and some crystal starts to encase her. She-Hulk smashes out. Radius realizes he has failed and runs. She-Hulk is too weakened to follow.

She doesn’t have a swimming suit so she ties a curtain around herself and heads to the beach. She starts to relax and thinks about sorting out the problems in her life. Torque, an armored Shade loser, attacks She-Hulk. She hits him, but he just grabs her. He says his mass and weight increase geometrically, and the power would normally result in a China Syndrome meltdown, but instead he converts it into energy. He unloads it on She-Hulk. Torque doesn’t feel her punches, but She-Hulk accidentally knees the circle on his stomach. Torque reels in pain. Torque throws her aside. She-Hulk starts pounding on him, but still to no affect. Torque encases her in a cocoon. She-Hulk breaks out, but the energies released blasts he rout into the ocean. She-Hulk flies out of the water and into Torque. She realizes what hurt him before and pushes the circle. Torque’s power goes off. She-Hulk walks out not realizing that Torque can just push the circle again and turn himself on. He blasts She-Hulk, and then boosts his power to it’s maximum. He unloads it on She-Hulk, but she refuses to die. Torque’s suit explodes. Zapper finally finds She-Hulk, but She-Hulk starts shouting about Shade. She storms off not even recognizing Zapper. Later She-Hulk storms into a bar. She starts throwing guys around. She picks up the entire bar and says that they have one minute to tell her where Shade is. They don’t know, but they do tell her where all the other bosses are who are meeting about Shade. She storms in there. They shoot her…no harm. They throw a grenade at her…no harm. Some guy dressed in Trask’s old Stark suits attacks her. She rips the armor right off her. She-Hulk grabs Monkton by the neck. He tells her where Shade is. She walks out.

Savage She-Hulk #24- She-Hulk feels an evil presence that seems to permeate the very ground. She-Hulk stands over an unconscious guard. She-Hulk falls into a hole in the ground. Lou Monkton is following behind her. He sees that the man behind Shade’s super villains is the same guy who tried to use She-Hulk to make an army of super powered beings. She-Hulk is in a cavern. The hole she fell down is gone. Suddenly She-Hulk is surrounded by mutates. They see how smooth and perfect she is and figures the creator has finally succeeded. She-Hulk doesn’t know what they are talking about. They figure she is unperfected without a memory and attack her. The fight is stopped by the fearsome Kyr. She-Hulk turns to see what they are afraid of and it is just a little boy. She-Hulk tries to go to the boy, but he attacks her with eyeblasts. She-hulk is in agony. She spots the device on his head that gives Kyr his power. She struggles towards him. The kid explains that they are all rejects of the doctor. He says that the ground is alive and keeps them there. Elsewhere the doctor activates a helmet that lets him control the earth. He grabs She-Hulk with a hand made of ground. The doctor feels someone taking possession of the earth instead of him. She-Hulk is moved back out to the surface. A face emerges from the ground and tells She-Hulk that he is Earth-Lord. Elsewhere Sheriff Walters has realized his mistake trusting his girlfriend and turning his back on Jen. He meets with Richard and Zapper prepared to hear the truth. She-Hulk smashes the hand, but a tree grabs her. She gets out of that to find Kyr. Kyr was contacted by his maker, and he told him that She-Hulk was the enemy. Kyr attacks again. She-Hulk dodges the Earth-Lord’s fist and grabs Kyr. She pulls the device off. Kyr says the device was not the source of his power, but an inhibitor the maker used to control him. Kyr’s pain goes out of control. Earth-Lord reverts to just earth. Kyr turns from the boy into Torque, from Torque into Radius, from Radius into Seeker, from Seeker into the blob she fought in issue #19, and finally from the blob into Zapper’s old friend Ralph. Ralph collapses and She-Hulk realizes she wants the doc not Shade.

Savage She-Hulk #25- She-Hulk is going to ditch Ralph there, but when he moans out she thinks to take him to the hospital. Ralph turns into the brute. She-Hulk kicks his head off. She starts to leave, but brute becomes Seeker. She-Hulk buries him under trees. Radius emerges from the trees. She-Hulk starst to fight, but Radius turns into Torque. Torque calls for an end to the fight. He says that he was evolving before when he fought She-Hulk. Now he desires what she desires- the destruction of the doctor. She-Hulk says that they will figt together, but that she doesn’t trust him. They walk towards the doctor, but Shade’s men attack them. She-Hulk tells Torque to keep going as she can handle them herself. As She-Hulk fights the doctor mentally blasts Torque down with his helmet. Shade tries to help the thugs beat She-Hulk. She-Hulk throws a goon onto him before he can throw a grenade. The grenade explodes. Shade turns out to be a robot controlled by a tiny mutate inside the head.
