Wonder Man

Simon Williams was an inventor, a business man, and an industrialist. Unfortunately for him his company was up against the best- Stark Industries. As Williams Innovations was going under Simon began to extort money from the company. It was after his trial that Simon Williams met the man who would change his life- Baron Zemo. Zemo put Simon through a process that turned him into an ionic dynamo. Williams was to defeat the entire Avengers team by himself, but repented at the last moment and paid with his life. But a little thing like death isn’t enough to stop a man of ions, and so back from the dead (and not only once) we have our hero Wonder Man.

Wonder Man #25- flashback- Simon sits on his mother's lap as Eric tortures the cat. Eric's father is supposed to be the one to discipline Eric, but he just sits watching television. Martha says that Eric was born bad. Simon's mother would lavish love on Simon for doing something good, but cut the love off when he was bad, so Simon became the "good boy". Eric hated Simon for it because his father only ignored him leaving him to his "born bad" status.

Wonder Man #25- flashback- One day Simon told his mother that he hated his brother. Martha tells Simon to be the "good boy" and to watch his brother Eric. She said that Eric would one day destroy the family. She was too weak, and his father was useless, so if Eric did something bad it would be Simon's fault.

Wonder Man #25- flashback- One day while playing with some chemicals in the garage Eric accidentally starts a fire. Simon and Eric get out, but their parents and the house burn to the ground. Simon feels responsible because he was supposed to control Eric, and since then Simon felt responsible for Eric's trouble.

Wonder Man #1- flashback-

Avengers #102- The Grim Reaper meets with the Vision. He wants the Vision to join him against the Avengers. Reaper shows Vision Wonder Man’s dormant body encased in a preserving tube. The tube is inside a meat locker. Reaper says that he wants to use Vision’s mind (which was based on Simon’s brain patterns) to put into Wonder Man’s body and let his brother live again. Vision says no, but Reaper tells him to think about it, and gives him an amulet with which Vision can summon Reaper.

Avengers #106- behind the scenes- Vision remains behind wallowing in self pity that he cannot feel love as the other Avengers go out to fight. So depression he feels, but love he doesn’t. Avengers are captured by Reaper and Space Phantom.

Avengers #107- Vision declines Reaper’s offer again. Reaper takes Vision back down. Reaper asks Vision what he would say if he told him that Simon’s body was really dead and he couldn’t merge his mind with the body. Vision starts yelling at Reaper. Reaper says he does desire humanity. Reaper says however that it is not Simon’s body he offers him, but that of Captain America. Vision agrees.

Avengers #108- Reaper celebrates Vision’s joining him in front of his dead brother’s body. Vision only agreed because he saw Captain America sneaking up behind Reaper. The Avengers defeat Reaper and Phantom.

West Coast Avengers vol. 2 #2- flashback-

Avengers #151-As the Avengers announce their new line up to the press a box in the background explodes. A zombie Wonder Man raises his hand to point at Vision. He struggles to say that Vision is the one that stole his mind.

Avengers #152- Wonder Man keeps repeating that Vision stole his mind over and over. Finally Wonder Man falls over. Captain America picks him up and takes him inside the mansion. Yellowjacket and Beast find that Wonder Man is alive. Beast says that Wonder Man breathes, has a heartbeat, and all the basics. But nobody is home. He only repeats that one thing about Vision stealing his mind. Suddenly Wonder Man elaborates about a silver shadow and a reaching hand. He trails off. Vision says that he is guilty of possessing Simon Williams’ mind. Scarlet Witch goes to the crate Wonder Man arrived in. She finds some dirt and uses her magic to determine that it came from New Orleans. They load Wonder Man into a quinjet and take off for New Orleans. They find a man that was involved with the ceremony that brought Wonder Man back. Wanda’s powers cause the man to reveal that the ceremony took place in Le Mort Bayou, or the Dead Swamp. Wonder Man starts to move and speak. Beast puts Simon down. Simon says to his master that he is coming. They follow him to a fire. People are dancing around it. The Black Talon sees Wonder Man has returned. Talon says that Wonder Man’s mission was in New York. Talon tells Wonder Man to enter the fire for failing. The Scarlet Witch defeats The Black Talon, but Talon has no information about where Simon came from.

Avengers #153- Vision carries the body of Wonder Man in through the back door of the Avengers mansion. They take him to a lab and lay him out. Vision notes that Simon’s heartbeat keeps getting stronger and stronger. The Whizzer visits the Avengers, but suddenly goes nuts. After the Avengers knock him out they take him down to the lab only to find that the lab is destroyed and that Wonder Man is gone. Wonder Man walked out of the mansion, and is spotted by all the tourists that came to see the Avengers. Everyone starts crowding around him. Like an animal Simon strikes out at the crowd. When they all run from him Wonder Man runs down an alley. There he finds a bright light. The Living Laser stands with the Serpent Crown on his head. He is the one that drove Whizzer nuts and brought Simon to him. Laser tells Wonder Man that he is to seek out the Avengers and destroy them.

Avengers annual #6

Avengers #154- The quinjet lands at Avengers mansion. Wonder Man emerges from the quinjet holding an unconscious Whizzer. He says that it is odd being in New York with his memories ten years out of date. He says the Avengers mansion was just a construction site when he died. Wonder Man says that he knows how Cap must have felt. Cap says, “Do you Wonder Man?” Whizzer starts receiving medical attention. Beast remarks to Cap how odd it is that Wonder Man regained his memory when Living Laser hit him with a light beam. Wonder Man stays with Whizzer when Attuma’s man Tyrak defeats the Avengers.

Super-Villains Team-Up #9

Avengers #155- In New York Wonder Man rides with Bob Frank, the Whizzer, as Beast flies the quinjet. Whizzer is talking about how nice it is to be back in action. Wonder Man says how nice it is not to be dead anymore. They’re tracking the other Avengers who are under Attuma’s control and have been captured by Dr. Doom. Attuma and his troops attack Hydro-Base. As soon as they break in they are accosted by Whizzer, Beast, and Wonder Man. Attuma hits Beast with the staff part of his trident. Wonder Man hits Attuma and demands to know where his friends are. They fight over Attuma’s trident. Wonder Man pushes Attuma through a wall. Beast and Whizzer defeat Attuma’s horde. They all converge on Attuma. Attuma sees that Namor is flying towards them. Attuma shouts instructions to the Avengers as if they were allies. Namor quickly attacks them. Whizzer and Beast are quickly stunned. Wonder Man attacks Namor. Namor tells Wonder Man that he is strong, but that Namor himself is stronger. Wonder Man says that Namor is wrong and he blasts him out to sea with a punch. Namor flies back and kicks Wonder Man. Whizzer rejoins the fight as Beast takes after Attuma who runs off with a machine. Namor grabs Whizzer and realizes who he is. Wonder Man pulls up a support beam. Wonder Man rams it into Namor. Whizzer tries to tell him to stop, but Wonder Man knocks Namor out with a punch. Whizzer tells Wonder Man that Namor was realizing what was happening. Wonder Man says that he still may have killed Whizzer, and this way at least they can be the ones to apologize.

Avengers #156- Namor wakes up and says that it seems he and the Whizzer once again have a common enemy. Wonder Man introduces himself and tries to apologize. Namor says Wonder Man’s strength will be an asset and shakes his hand. They board the quinjet where Beast is trying to contact them from Attuma’s ship. He tells them that they are headed back to Attuma’s home base. When Beast is knocked out by Attuma’s men he stops answering Wonder Man and the others. Subby dives in ahead as Wonder Man puts on a breathing apparatus. Wonder Man sees Tyrak pounding Namor. Wonder Man spots the machine Attuma stole that seems to be powering Tyrak up. Namor is down. Wonder Man tells Whizzer that he is afraid. Not for his health, but afraid that he will blow it. Whizzer tells Simon that the Avengers and Dr. Doom have arrived. They all start fighting. Wonder Man seems frozen in fear until he realizes that the Avengers need him. He decks the giant Tyrak. All the Avengers start to pile on. Wonder Man and Vision hit him together and knock Tyrak out. Doom tries to grab the machine Attuma had, but Vision destroys it. Afterward Scarlet Witch tries to talk to Vision, but he says he wishes to be alone. Scarlet Witch says she seems to make him feel worse. Simon says that a beautiful woman like her could never do that.

Marvel Super Special #1

Defenders #47- Hellcat heads back to Avengers mansion. All is quiet, as Jarvis must have the day off. Hellcat is unaware that Wonder Man recently joined the team so when she spots him checking some dials she yells out to identify himself. Simon spins startled and accidentally tears apart the machine he was adjusting. Hellcat isn’t impressed. Simon says that he wasn’t trying to impress her she just startled him. Hellcat wants to know what Wonder Man has done with the Avengers. Simon says that there must be some mistake, and says that he doesn’t want to hurt her. Hellcat won’t listen so Simon grabs the cables from her claw grappling hook. The cables don’t break and Simon pulls a machine down on himself. He smashes the machine, but the pulling causes the whole wall to fall over. Simon catches the wall and tells Hellcat to hurry and move. He says that he can’t hold the wall up much longer, and then suddenly the wall falls over. After a while Simon manages to get the wall off of them, but Hellcat won’t respond to him. Valkyrie, Moon Knight, and Jack Norris are arriving when they hear the noise of the wall rising off them. Val runs in to find Simon standing over an unconscious Hellcat. Simon says that he wants to explain, but Valkyrie hits him. Simon says that is enough. He says that the Avengers entrusted him with protecting the mansion, but he has done a lousy job so far. Moon Knight says he doesn’t believe him. Simon asks who cares what he believes because they are the intruders. Moon Knight says that his files don’t show that Wonder Man is an Avenger. Wonder Man says that he isn’t an Avenger and that he just returned to life, but doesn’t expect much as nobody has listened to him at all so far. Moon Knight punches Wonder Man, but only hurts his hand. Simon grabs Moon Knight and throws him into Valkyrie. Simon is gonna finish them off when Hellcat wakes up. She stops the fight and shows Simon she was an Avenger. Suddenly Nick Fury’s face comes up on the screen. Fury says that he is putting out a priority alert on Jack Norris, but that they only want information.

Defenders #48- As Hellcat and Val talk with Jack about the info stored in his subconscious Moon Knight asks Wonder Man what is the matter. Simon says that he is a little concerned about what the Avengers will say when they see the destruction caused during the fight. Scorpio’s brother poses as Fury and arrests Norriss. Simon says that he would ask them to stay and get aquatinted, but he sees that they have something to do. Moon Knight just disappears. Simon goes to get Hellcat for Valkyrie.

Avengers #157

Avengers #158- As Wonder Man helps the woozy Scarlet Witch Vision looks down at the statue of the Black Knight that was alive with the spirit of the former Black Knight. Vision realizes that he is like the statue. A non-living thing animated by the spirit of Simon Williams. Vision is mocked by Wonder Man's kind words towards his wife. Vision hits Wonder Man, and then blasts him with a solar flare. Vision remarks that even though he is less than human he is also better than humans. Wonder Man gets back up saying that his strength is finally returning. He tackles Vision, but in mid-air Vision turns intangible. Vision hardens to a diamond, but Wonder Man hits the ground, knocking Vision off balance, and then launches Vision with his next hit. Wonder Man says that he is as dense as Vision, and hits harder. Vision phases his hand into Wonder Man's chest, but while it hurts Simon it by no means knocks him out. Simon smacks Vision. Scarlet Witch asks the other Avengers to stop them, but Iron Man says they should just let them work it out themselves. Wonder Man notices how Vision seems to be getting weaker, but Vision blasts Simon with a solar blast. Wonder Man blasts Vision into a machine. Iron Man steps in and reminds Simon he is a guest, and tells Vision to act like a man not a child. Jarvis enters and says he has received a distress call. Later the Avengers burst through the wall into Graviton's quarters. Graviton blasts them all back out. Captain America goes to throw his shield, but Graviton causes it to get incredibly heavy and traps Cap beneath it. Wonder Man can't get it off him. After all the others are downed Beast and Wonder Man charge Graviton, but are downed by rubble from the city.

Avengers #159- Graviton lifts the Avengers into the sky out of the rubble. He flies his island over New York and demands world control or he will fly his island around destroying every major city in the world. Thor arrives with Black Panther. Iron Man uses his repulsors to blast off the slab, and while he and Thor are losing to Graviton Panther frees Wonder Man and the others with a field disruptor. The entire team is encased in another field. When Graviton notices that his unrequited love Judy has leaped from the island he blames the Avengers. His powers go nuts and the island collapses on him like a black hole. The Avengers just get free. The island becomes a super dense ball weighing millions of tons. Wonder Man, Thor, Iron Man, and Vision catch it before it causes an earthquake. They throw it into the river, and return to the mansion. They find that Jarvis saved Judy as she fell.

Avengers #160- Simon stands next to Wanda and the others while Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and Whizzer fly away. Wonder Man’s face is bitter as Scarlet Witch and Vision are making kissy faces at each other. Beast runs down to his lab to clean it up, but he is blasted back out. Wonder Man catches the unconscious Beast. Grim Reaper reveals himself. Simon recognizes his voice. Reaper unmasks himself. Simon says he didn’t recognize Eric behind the mask. Vision tells Reaper that he knows Vision was created with his brain patterns, but that nobody had the heart to tell him about his demented brother. Vision says that the feud with the Avengers must be over because his brother Simon is now alive. Reaper says that he will be the judge of that. Beast tries to attack again, but Reaper smacks him down. Vision says that they have to take him down, but Simon says that he can’t fight his brother. Reaper takes down Scarlet Witch and Vision. Reaper says that perhaps Wonder Man is his brother, but until he knows for certain he must treat him as a hostile. Reaper apologizes as he blasts him unconscious. When Simon wakes up he, Vision, Wanda, Black Panther, and Beast are all seated around the Avengers meeting table, but in manacles. Reaper says that court is now in session. Reaper says that two men cannot both be his brother and that one of them must die. Reaper appoints Panther counselor to the accused. Vision tells his origin and that he isn’t the true Simon Williams. Reaper calls Wonder Man. Wonder Man says that this is unnecessary, but that he will play along. Simon tells his story. Reaper says that he believes Simon is telling the truth. For some reason Black Panther says that Wonder Man could not be the true Simon. Wonder Man takes off his goggles and reveals his ionic eyes. Reaper is stunned. Vision says to destroy him already. Vision says that he and Wonder Man are closer to brothers since neither is human. Reaper says he will not be replaced and shocks everyone through their manacles. They lay out and Reaper says he will slay the android. Wonder Man wasn’t affected by the manacles and he hits Eric. Reaper tells him to back off. Simon punches a piece of a tower at Reaper. Reaper shreds it with his scythe. He blasts Simon with some energy. He says that he was the one that paid Black Talon to use Simon’s body to get revenge on the Avengers. Simon is unhurt by the blast. Reaper tries to cut Simon, but his blade shatters on his skin. Simon knocks Eric out and apologizes. He revives the other Avengers, but asks for a moment alone.

Avengers #161- Scarlet Witch says she likes Wonder Man’s new outfit (a sure sign of love as the suit is atrocious). Wonder Man says that the Beast designed it for him. Suddenly the team is accosted by an Ant-Man that still seems to think that the Avengers are as they were in Avengers #1. He sends swarms of ants. Ant-Man gets under Simon’s foot and flips him. They have no way of fighting back until Wasp shows up and zaps him down. Wonder Man quickly catches him before he hits the ground. Jan regrows Ant-Man in Wonder Man’s arms. Wasp tells the others that Hank’s mind seems to have cracked. Wonder Man says that Pym’s eyes look dazed like his did when he came out of his “death”. Beast takes Wasp home and she finds Ultron. Beast staggers into the mansion. He says that “he” has Jan. Hank seems to snap to. Suddenly Ultron comes crashing through the roof. Vision rushes Ultron, but Ultron floors him with the “agony of death”. Iron Man tells Wonder Man to get up front and try to take the brunt of the next blast. Wonder Man thinks how Iron Man must consider him an Avenger to count on him the way he did. Ultron is amazed that it took a full two seconds to knock Wonder Man out with his encephalo ray. Ultron eventually triumphs, takes Ant-Man and leaves. Jarvis returns to the mansion to find all the Avengers unconscious on the floor.

Avengers #162- Thor arrives as it seems that Cap, Wanda, and Beast were killed by Ultron’s ray. Wonder Man stands inside as they recharge Iron Man. Wonder Man says that he left a message for Hawkeye. Thor tries to call, but can’t reach Hawkeye either. Wonder Man asks if Hawkeye is even worth it. Thor says that when Wonder Man has proved himself a thousand times over he may question Hawkeye. Later Wonder Man hits a machine frustrated with waiting. Thor tells him to save his strength. Suddenly a swarm of ants spell out “STARKLI”. Iron Man figures out it means the Stark building in Long Island. As they take off Wonder Man hears Thor say that they will fight to the death. Simon thinks that he didn’t even consider that, but then recalls that Ultron has already killed four Avengers. They crash into the building. Ultron says that his ray is only a coma inducing one unless they are left unrevived. Ultron is manipulating the sick Henry Pym to create a mate for him out of Wasp. Wonder Man says it feels surreal fighting for his life. He thinks how Thor doesn’t seem scared. Thor and Wonder Man charge Ultron, but Ultron knocks them aside. Wonder Man hits Ultron again, but realizes that he is afraid of dying again. Ultron senses Wonder Man’s fear and charges him. Thor comes up behind and they hold Ultron together. Iron Man bluffs to destroy Jocasta. Ultron tells him how to stop the transfer so he won’t hurt Jocasta. Ultron takes off. Wonder Man starts to confess to Thor he was scared, but Thor interrupts him saying that they will talk later. The group realizes it must have been Jocasta that sent the ants for aid.

Captain Marvel #54

Avengers #164- Wonder Man sits in a special chair as Tony Stark, Hank Pym, Black Panther, the Beast, and a lady bio-chemist, that Stark brought with him, examine him. Simon asks if he is alive. Stark says that he isn’t. Not in any sense of the word they know. Alice says that Simon’s cells are like miniature fusion reactors. Black Panther wonders if Zemo knew that he was creating a new form of life when he made Wonder Man. Simon asks why he is suddenly “alive”. Alice says that it seems that Simon didn’t really die, but entered a cocoon state to undergo a transformation. Simon asks how he is supposed to know if he is breathing or if he is just simulating breathing. They start tests. The next day as they sit at the meeting table Wonder Man says that he wishes he had been with the Avengers yesterday, instead of at the Mets game, and maybe Power Man, Whirlwind, and Living Laser wouldn’t have gotten away. Beast arrives a suddenly a car smashes through the mansion wall. Captain America tells everyone to wait until they make sure Wasp is okay. Power Man calls them cowards and tells them to fight. Wonder Man freaks and charges ahead. Wonder Man says that Captain America told him who he was, and how he got his powers. Simon says that Power Man didn’t have to die though and so he can’t be as strong as him. Power Man, who received an immense power boost from Count Nefaria’s scientists, smashes him. Suddenly Wonder Man freezes in fear. The fight abruptly ends when Power Man, Whirlwind, and Living Laser all lose their powers. Wonder Man says he should have had Power Man down, and wonders what kind of hero he is. Wonder Man says at least they sort of won. Suddenly the ground starts to ripple, and the newly powered Count Nefaria emerges.

Avengers #165- Wonder Man joins in against Nefaria. Yellowjacket hopes Wonder Man doesn’t freeze up the way he did against Power Man. Wonder Man lays into Nefaria. He says that he once laid Thor out. He isn’t used to putting his life on the line and that scares him because he knows what it is like to be dead. Count Nefaria gets up. He says that he, like Wonder Man, is new at this, and that he wasn’t ready for Wonder Man’s strength, but that he will be now. Wonder Man says he won’t back down. Nefaria says that Wonder Man might be the strongest man there ever was…next to him. Wonder Man punches Nefaria in the stomach, but Nefaria doesn’t even flinch. Nefaria knocks Wonder Man through a wall into the mansion. Jarvis helps Simon up. Wonder Man says to get them help if he can, and to check if the power was knocked out. The fight continues until Nefaria tips over a forty-story building onto them. Wonder Man catches it, but can’t hold it long as the building collapses. Later Iron Man finds the m under the building. Simon was holding the rubble right above them up so that they wouldn’t get crushed. Nefaria returns for Thor. Wonder Man stands afraid as Nefaria tears through them. Wonder Man finally finds his courage, but Nefaria still knocks him out and into Captain America. Thor arrives.

Avengers #166- Wonder Man wakes up just after Professor Sturdy tells Nefaria that he is going to die since he killed him. Sturdy says he installed measures so that Nefaria would need him. Captain America still can’t stand. Cap gives his shield to Wonder Man to counter Nefaria’s eye beams. Vision hits Nefaria to the ground. Wonder Man charges in and hits Nefaria. Nefaria tries to blast him, but Wonder Man uses the shield to block. The entire team joins in. Vision knocks Nefaria out when he drops from the sky as heavy as a mountain.

Super-Villains Team-Up #14

Avengers #167- Wonder Man sits in a midtown diner with Thor. Simon discusses that Thor hasn’t disappeared like he did when they fought Graviton and Ultron. Thor doesn’t know what mysterious force keeps bringing him to the Avengers side. Simon starts to tell Thor that he feels that he is not man enough to be a superman, but his beeper goes off signaling that the Avenges need them. They arrive at Avengers mansion. The SHIELD space station is about to be crashed into by a giant space station. The Avengers take off to lend assistance. In space Wonder Man gets dressed in a space suit despite the fact that he could probably survive without it. They board the approaching station. Inside the station they find the Guardians of the Galaxy. Wonder Man is kinda stunned since he has never met any aliens before. The Guardians are chasing after Korvac. Vance Astro, leader of the Guardians, figures that Korvac came back in time to kill Astro as a young Vance Astrovik so that he can never grow up to oppose him. Vance says that whatever they do to oppose Korvac can’t involve him. Elsewhere Korvac gets Carina Walters to come with him.

Avengers #168- The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy (less Vance Astro) head to Avengers mansion. They can’t raise communication with Jarvis. When they get back the alarms are going off. They find Henry Gyrich waiting for them. Jarvis is tied up. Gyrich informs them that the Avengers enjoy special privileges by the government, and that the only two people who can revoke those privileges are he and the president. Gyrich says that he easily walked into Avengers mansion and had access to tons of United States government secrets. He points out that the Avengers have brought in people (and even Wonder Man) doesn’t have the security clearance to have access to the government files. Gyrich leaves. Cap starts arguing with Iron Man about his lackluster leadership. Scarlet Witch yells at them both. Korvac messes with Starhawk’s ability to perceive him.

Ms. Marvel #18

Avengers #170- Wonder Man and Vision sit playing a game of chess. Jarvis notes to Scarlet Witch that Vision and Simon have become friendly. Wanda says that they have a lot in common. Wasp and Hank arrive. Hank tells Simon to watch it because if Wasp spots him in his civvies she might go design him another suit. Simon says that he just isn’t the type. Wonder Man watches as Hank’s moving guy brings Jocasta into the mansion. Jocasta comes to life. Wonder Man and the others chase after her, but Jocasta activates a special alloy door that Simon can’t break. Wanda almost has a hex ready, but Simon just gets mad and blasts a hole in it with his fist. Finally Simon, Beast, and Scarlet Witch catch up. Jocasta eye blasts Beast unconscious. Simon says that he has had it, but Jocasta erects a force field before he can hit her. She eye blasts Simon. Iron Man and Cap tell them to let her go. Wonder Man starts shouting. Iron Man says if he will shut up he will tell him that his armor can track Jocasta right to Ultron.

Avengers #171- Wonder Man says that they should have grabbed the robot when they had the chance. The crowd is prohibiting them from following it well. With directions from some of the crowd they trail the robot. A bum says that he thought the robot was with the penguin. Ms. Marvel offers the Avengers her help. Iron Man finds car tracks where Jocasta and a nun drove away. Wonder Man spots Yellowjacket and Wasp in a ship. Those that cannot fly ride in the ship to follow Iron Man on the robot’s trail. Wonder Man asks Ms. Marvel if she likes danger since she could have easily avoided this fight. Ms. Marvel says she acts as if she has no fear to do what must be done. They trace Jocasta to a convent. The nun lets them in, but once inside a flash later the nun and Wanda are missing. The Avengers find Ultron. Wonder Man realizes that he should be in the front of the group because of his invulnerability, and not hiding like a coward in the back. As Ultron starts to attack the Avengers Wonder Man rushes up and hits Ultron. Wonder Man lifts Ultron and hits him into a wall. He thinks that he can’t stop to think about what he is doing. Once all the Avengers are close enough Ultron encases them in a force sphere. Jocasta rebels against Ultron. Ms. Marvel finds Wanda, and Wanda’s hexes cause Ultron’s circuits and molecular rearranger to malfunction. Thor sucks out Ultrons power and dispels it. Simon finally starts to feel like an Avenger. Jocasta and Cap disappear.

Avengers #172- The Avenger return to the mansion to investigate Cap’s disappearance. Inside they find Hawkeye back, and Gyrich tied up by security measures. Gyrich revokes their priority status. They can’t use their aircraft, monitors, or security clearances. Crystal reports that Quicksilver is missing too. Tyrak is attacking the harbor. Iron Man sends Wonder Man, Hawkeye, Wanda, Ms. Marvel, and Vision to deal with Tyrak. Wanda rides on Wondy’s back. He drops her off and flies in to fight. Tyrak knocks out Vision at his heaviest weight. Wonder Man holds him up, but his jet packs quickly burn out. When Wondy sees Ms. Marvel attacking Tyrak he rushes to her aide. He pushes her aside to keep her from harm’s way. Tyrak grabs them both. Wanda blasts Tyrak. Vision then puts Tyrak down with his solar energy dehydrating him. They want to call for a special cell for Tyrak, but without their government clearance they are forced to set Tyrak free so he doesn’t die of dehydration. Wondy asks Ms. Marvel if she is coming with them. She says no thanks, but she would like to come back and teach him a bit about liberated women. Simon says someone will have to explain it to him. Suddenly Vision disappears.

Avengers #173- Wonder Man is eating in the kitchen when Thor enters. Simon asks Thor if he would like to pull up a chair and have half of his sandwich. Thor says he is unaccustomed to being addressed in such a familiar manner by a stranger. Simon asks Thor what he is talking about. He asks what about their battles against Graviton and Count Nefaria. Thor says he knows of no such battles or of Wonder Man. Wonder Man, Yellowjacket, and Wanda all disappear. Iron Man asks Vance Astro if he can tell where these disappearances are being caused from. Vance tells them he managed to trace it to an orbiting construct. Vance then teleports the only Avengers left, Thor, Hawkeye, Iron Man, and Wasp, to the location. There they find that the one taking the Avengers is the Collector.

Avengers # 174- Wonder Man is kept trapped as Thor, Hawkeye, Wasp, and Iron Man confront Collector. Hawkeye is the last one standing and he defeats the Collector. The Collector is explaining to the Avengers that he is a prophet. He saw the coming of Thanos and started to collect things he loved to protect them from his coming destruction. Collector says that he would have stopped collecting with Thanos’ death, but then he saw another threat coming, and this time he decided to do something about it. Collector sent his own daughter to spy upon the new threat. Just as Collector is about to reveal the threat’s name he explodes from existence.

Avengers #175- Wonder Man suggests that they get out of there before whoever killed Collector offs them too. Iron Man says that they would probably be dead if that were going to happen. He says that they should look around. Iron Man looks for information on Collector’s “threat”, but when he finds it the information is dust just like the Collector. Iron Man finds a time machine. They send the Two-Gun Kid back to his right time. Iron Man reveals how Collector kept bringing Thor to them with the time machine when they needed him, and then would put him back with his memory wiped. Vision finds the teleporter Collector used to bring them. Simon is put back on Earth right in front of a moving bus. The bus breaks apart and Simon has to tell the driver that Tony Stark will pay for it. Later Wonder Man sits in on a meeting to discuss what should be done about their unknown opponent. Ms. Marvel returns having sensed their need for her. While Iron Man and others try to discover their opponent’s identity Iron Man tells everyone else to relax and prepare to fight. Ms. Marvel tries to lift a magnetic barbell that is designed for advanced weight lifting. The setting is for Thor and she can’t move it. Wonder Man nearly gets it up, but needs for her to turn it off. Marvel doesn’t know how and Iron Man has to do it.

Avengers #176- As the Avengers with extra sensory powers scour for information about “The Enemy” Wonder Man wonders how everyone can be taking this so calmly. Black Panther says that until they have a foe to fight there is little else to do. Later Moondragon has Iron Man punch in the tiny fragments that each Avenger has found out. With all the information added the computer pinpoints one house. Because their clearances have been revoked the Avengers are forced to commandeer a bus. The drive to the neighborhood and get out. They walk right up to the house and knock. A man named Michael answers the door. They ask if they can come in, and Michael agrees. As the Avengers enter nobody notices that Starhawk looks puzzled. The Avengers ask to look around for something that threatens the universe. When they find nothing Iron Man tells the Avengers with extra sensory powers to try. They all come up with nothing. Starhawk interrupts and says that he doesn’t know what their game is, but that they have all been talking to someone that isn’t there. The Avengers all realize that Starhawk cannot see the one called Michael, and that they only way that is possible is if Michael is the being of immense power. Wonder Man wonders if they might talk him into surrendering. Michael admits it, but says that they will be sorry they found him. Michael grows and turns purple with power. He says that they brought this on themselves.

Simon says that Beast is his best friend so he will come, but asks Strange to use the phone the next time he needs him. Wonder Man and the others arrive just as Ian Fate leaves Devil-Slayer. Ian Fate showed Devil-Slayer his wife being held captive in another dimension. He wants Devil-Slayer to feel as helpless as he did when Devil-Slayer killed his wife and child. Strange manages to find where Cory, Devil-Slayer’s wife, is. Wonder Man thinks to himself that Devil-Slayer and Strange are so grim that they make the Vision seem like Bill Murray. The dimension is very close to Dormammu’s, but they teleport there anyway. Simon starts to fall as the ground that Strange wanted to teleport them to has shifted. Beast catches Simon. They come face to face with Ian Fate and the dimension locals. Beast, Slayer, and Simon fight the locals while Strange fights Fate. Wonder Man and Beast work like an well-oiled machine. Despite their best efforts Cory is stabbed to death. A spell fades and Cory is revealed to be a junkie that Slayer was trying to help. Fate says that he couldn’t kill an innocent woman, but viewed the junkie as garbage. Slayer prepares to kill Fate, but Simon stops him. He says that the junkie Sunshine is dead because of Slayer’s past deeds and that instead of killing Fate he should accept his own role in the tragedy.

The Avengers close in, but as they grab Beast they are all teleported away by an unseen force. The Avengers find themselves in a giant room filled with every hero on Earth. The Grandmaster and a hooded figure appear before them saying that they have placed all of Earth in suspended animation. They say that they are playing for the life of the Collector. Marvel Two-In-One annual #7- The alien promoter Proja recruits Wonder Man among Earth’s heroes to fight Champion. Simon finds himself in a super powers gym with Thor, Sasquatch, Colossus, Banner Hulk, Doc Samson, Thing, and Namor. Champion arrives and tells them all how he travels the galaxy looking for noble competitors. They attack Champion together, but are repelled by his Power Primordial. Champion says that they will present him with suitable competition or he will turn his attention to Earth itself. Simon is assigned a trainer to help him prepare for the fight. Wonder Man is riding an exercise bike. His trainer tells him to put some heart in it, but Simon thinks to himself how he lacks the heart which is why he is acting instead of being a superhero. The fights begin. Thor is disqualified because he won’t lose the hammer. Hulk is disqualified when he goes savage. Sasquatch and Colossus are knocked out. Simon and the Thing watch Colossus being carried out. Simon says that he and Thing are the only ones left. Thing tells Simon to concentrate on winning the fight. Simon goes next. Champion pounds Simon so hard that he bounces off the force field surrounding the ring. Simon freaks. He says that he is tired of fighting by Champion’s rules. He rips up the ring and is disqualified. Later, Simon congratulates Thing for making enough of a showing to spare the Earth.

Simon tells the train workers that he has a friend in the hospital and he can’t spend all day on the train. The guy says that he can’t do anything until the train starts. Wonder Man pries apart the doors with his bare hands, and then pulls the train to his stop. Wonder Man takes a cab to the hospital. He finds the Avengers there, and then sees the Vision with his arm chopped off. The doctor says that he thinks the Vision is in shock, and that he seems to have gone into the synthezoid equivalent of a coma. The doctor says that he needs Wonder Man’s help. The doctor is trying to hook Simon up to a transfuser, but he can’t pierce Simon’s skin with his needle. Thor helps the doctor get it in with his hammer. Simon tells Vision that if he can come back from the dead then so can Vision. Vision screams as his dream is tormenting him. Simon starts to feel a little peaked when his energies start to flow out. The doctor tells him that he can sleep if he wants. The Grim Reaper arrives and starts attacking Vision. Vision is stuck in some sort of dreamlike vision though he moves around. He cuts off the source of Vision’s strength…Wonder Man’s transfusion. Wonder Man wakes up because of it. Reaper hits Wonder Man, and says that he hates him even more than he hates Vision. After all at least Vision has the decency to look fake. Reaper is smacking Simon around because of his depleted energy, but Vision saves him. Reaper is about to blast them. Simon wakes Vision from his walking coma, and Vision blasts Reaper’s scythe out of his hand. Simon stands supported by Vision as the Scarlet Witch comes to them.
