In their boyhood, Thor and Loki are climbing along the palace’s rafters. Thor asks Loki if he was given permission to do so. Loki tells Thor to shut up or they are going to get caught. Loki says that Asgard’s finest warriors have assembled, and that he won’t be denied hearing their business. The warriors below are saying that it is the most dire threat that Asgard has ever faced. They say that they should strike in defense of the realm, and that the sooner it is done the better. When Thor hears Odin speaking Thor says that spying on the omnipotent Odin is dishonorable. Loki calls Thor a babbling fool, and pushes Thor off the rafter since he is so unhappy there. Thor falls to the ground before the gathered warriors. Odin asks who dares disturb them. Thor stands up and apologizes to Odin. Loki is thinking to himself that Thor will finally know Odin’ whip. Odin says that Thor’s apologies are unnecessary and that his actions do him proud. Odin says that a prince of the realm should be concerned about those who desire their elimination. Odin says that there are worlds beyond their own with gods that are intent on their destruction. Odin says that the alarm should be sounded, but before he can say what for Jake Olsen’s alarm does go off and Jake awakens from the dream.

Jake thinks how he has forgotten that day and wonders why he can’t remember the gods that Odin spoke of. Jake says that it is time for him to go to Asgard immediately. Marnot appears and asks Jake if he has forgotten him pact with him so soon. Marnot says that Jake Olsen is due to receive an award for his heroic actions in the battle against the Destroyer. Marnot says that the ceremony is beginning soon and says that he should be going. Thor says that he doesn’t like Marnot coming and going as he pleases while wrapped in secrets. Thor demands answers. Marnot tells Thor to be quiet because if it wasn’t for him Jake Olsen would be getting his award in death. Jake gets angry and punches the floor turning into Thor. Thor flies to the ceremony.

Demetrius and Hannah are discussing how different Jake seems since his near death experience. Amanda spots a streak of red and blue and says that it had to have been Thor. Thor lands in the alley and changes back into Jake. Jake looks down to realize that he had not changed clothes before changing and was now standing in his underwear in the alley. He gets into the building through the alley and manages to find an extra uniform in his locker. Demetrius comes in to get him just as Jake finishes dressing. Demetrius says that it is a good thing that he is looking good because of who the special guest that is presenting him with the award. Demetrius and Jake walk outside to spot Captain America addressing the crowd. Cap is about to present Jake with the Paramedic of the Year award, but Jake says that he does not deserve the honor. Jake’s boss, Administrator Ryan, gets up and starts saying that refusing an award from Captain America is unpatriotic and maybe even treason. Ryan says that Olsen’s views are not theirs. Captain America says that he respects Olsen for speaking up and refusing the award if he feels unworthy. Jake watches Captain America walk away while Ryan yells at him about refusing the award. Hannah asks Jake what he has done with the real Jake. Amanda says that it must be one of the pod people. Jake asks Amanda what it will take to square them. Amanda wants tickets to the Giants. Jane Foster Kincaid overhears Jake saying, “The Frost Giants… here? Nay!” Jake says that he will try to get some tickets when Amanda explains that she meant the football Giants. Jane walks up to Thor and says that it was quite a procedure that he performed the other day. She recalls that he said that he learned it from Donald Blake. Jane says that if “Jake” finds himself battling alongside the Avengers again that she wants him to give a message to Thor. Jane says that the man who inhabited the Destroyer armor is still in a coma. Jake says that he will do that and goes. Jane says, “Nice seeing you too. Jake.”

That night in a night club, all the women and gay men are ogling Hercules’ shoulders as Herc holds three women on a sofa high in the air with one hand. Thor enters and says that he wants to talk to Hercules. Hercules greets Thor and tells him to come over. Herc says that even though these “wenches” are mortal that they are “comely” enough to garner Thor’s attention. Thor says that Herclarge as it ever was. Herc says that he wishes he could say the same for Thor, but ’s appetite for life is as that he looks very grim. Thor says that it because of Asgard’s condition. A few women start saying that they would rather have Thor over Hercules. Thor says that he doesn’t know what happened to the gods, but tells Hercules about his dream. Thor says that he must talk to Zeus about it hoping that Zeus might be able to help him remember what gods the Asgardians were going to be warring with. Hercules asks Thor if he dares to come there and treat him like a messenger in front of a bunch of women and ruin his good time. Hercules says that he only answers to himself and decks Thor.

Thor hurtles through the window and plasters into a bus. Thor says that he expected such a response because Hercules always did lack self-discipline. Thor throws his hammer into the bar. As it starts to return to Thor it hits Hercules in the stomach and drags Herc along with it towards Thor outside. Thor repeats himself that this is urgent, and that it is no urgent that there is no time for playful sparring between friends. Thor plants Herc into the ground. Herc asks Thor why he didn’t say so in the first place. Herc says that he is always ready to help his brother Thor. Thor asks Herc if he will come with him to Olympus then. Hercules says that even though Zeus has stripped him of his immortality and heritage that his heart always rejoices at the chance to see Olympus.

Thor swings his hammer around and around creating a dimensional portal to Olympus. When they arrive in Olympus they find the place has been destroyed and lies in ruins the same way that Asgard is.

The issue is alright enough and the plot seems to be advancing a little, but I would have much rather seen a little more Hercules/Thor fight, and a little less Jake Olsen running around in his underpants. Romita does a good, if not terribly interesting job. Not really a reflection on him, but there isn’t that much to see.
