Marvel Two-In-One annual #7- continues

Finally the day of the event comes. A clanging fills the workout room. One trainer says that it signifies that the fights are about to begin. Sasquatch wishes everyone good luck. Thor says though Champion possesses power to shatter worlds that he will not find Thor wanting. The trainer says that is good to hear because Thor is up first. Thor is teleported from the training room into Madison Square Garden within the force field. Thor finds himself standing in the ring. His clothes have been replaced by boxing gear though his hammer remains with him. Thor says that this is another affront that Champion will have to answer for. As the ref starts to announce Thor, Cyclops and Wolverine sneak down to the force field and try to break through but fail. A flash of energy starts to glow in the ring, and the Champion arrives. He says for the fight to begin. Thor looks at Champion and says that he stands like a warrior born. Thor wonders what drives Champion. Champion tells Thor that he can sense his thoughts, but that Thor should not seek to understand him because he is too far beyond him. Champion says that Thor calls himself a god, but that compared to Thor Champion says that he is the god. The ref tells them both to keep it clean. Thor says that soon they will learn which of them is truly the god. Champion says that he hopes Thor finds the bitter taste of defeat to his liking. Thor says that he’ll never drink from that cup. The bell rings. Thor swings at Champion, but Champion dodges the blow. Champion says that Thor is strong, but that he lacks the speed and finesse for the ring. Champion punches Thor. Thor admits that he may be new to boxing, but that he will triumph. Thor rams his hammer into Champion’s stomach. Thor hurls his hammer at Champion, but before it can hit Champion sends it off top a nether dimension because it has no place in the ring. Champion senses that Thor’s hammer must always return to his hand and so he gives the hammer back to Thor. Thor is disqualified for improper use of his hammer. Thor is transported back to Chicago from when he was in mid-flight.

In the crowd, Sue is thinking that Reed and Tony must still be working on a way to penetrate the force field. Hulk materializes within the ring. Hulk says that Champion has never faced anyone like him because the angrier he gets the stronger he gets. Hulk says that he is very mad. He says that he has had enough of the kidnappings, the training session, and the threats to Earth. Hulk smashes his hands together and the boxing gloves shred apart. Hulk charges Champion, but before he can reach him Champion teleports Hulk away as he will not “soil my hands on a mindless brute!” Sasquatch materializes in the ring. Champion swings and Sasquatch manages to dodge the first blow. Sasquatch ties Champion up from behind. Champion says that this disappoints him. He says that the ref would break this if he let it continue. Champion elbows Sasquatch off him. Sasquatch bounds off the ropes and leaps at Champion. Champion nails Sasquatch with a left hook and Sasquatch goes down. Champion says that this planet doesn’t merit his attention. Champion says that if this is the true guardians of this planet that they have much to fear.

The crowd is getting nervous. The new line for betting is 4000 to 1 against Earth. Colossus is next in the ring. He is sent flying across the ring into the turnbuckles. Champion pounds Colossus’ ribs. Colossus slumps over. The ref stops the fight as Colossus can no longer defend himself.

Thing and Wonder Man watch from the training room. Thing says that Colossus did himself proud by lasting almost a full round. Wonder Man wonders what will happen if they all fail. Thing says that Simon can’t think that way, and tells him to concentrate on winning. Wonder Man is teleported to the ring. Thing starts working a big speedbag and says that if Champion is looking for a good fight, and that he is going to get one in spades. Up in the ring, Champion pounds Wonder Man off the ropes. Simon falls to the mat. The pressure gets to Wonder Man, and he starts tearing up the canvas and says that he is tired of playing by Champion’s rules. The ref disqualifies Wonder Man, and says that there will be a five-minute intermission while the ring is prepared. Champion teleports out. When Champion arrives in his room Proja says that this tournament goes poorly. Champion says that he fears that Earth might not prove worthy of continued existence. In the crowd, superheroes are spread all over the stadium in case something happens, but the Thing is on his own.

Thing’s trainer puts a robe on him. Thing says that Champion has been treating them all like a bunch of third rate amateurs. Thing says that he isn’t going to get away with it. Thing’s trainer tapes Thing’s hands up. Thing says that he is ready. He says that he might not be the strongest or toughest guy the Champion ever fought, but that he is not going to go down easy. Thing says, “He’s gonna know he’s been in a fight… a bone-crushin’ brawl like never before!”

Thing is teleported into the ring. The ref welcomes Thing. Thing tells the ref to hurry it up, and says that he has a date with his girl after the fight, and he’ll have a real fight on his hands if he is late. The crowd is all cheering for Thing, and Thing realizes that he is their last chance. Thing says that he won’t let them down. Champion teleports into the ring. He says that he suspects that he has chosen well, and that this fight at least will meet his minimum standards for amusement. Thing cracks a joke. Champion says that Thing seems to be in a good mood for one who is about to be humiliated. Thing says that he thought they were going to fight, and says that it’s no fair if Champion tries to talk him to death too.

Round One

Champion says that he has wasted too much time on this mudball, and that he is going to end this fast. Thing says that Champion is leaving the ring feet first. Champion clobbers Thing with a punch. Thing bounces off the force field and hits the ring. Thing thinks to himself that nobody, not even the Hulk or Surfer, has ever hit him that hard. Champion says that Thing is just like the others. Thing gets up and says that this fight has just started. Thing gives Champion a last chance to surrender. Champion swings at Thing, but Thing ducks his punch. Thing comes back with a left hook that sends Champion reeling. The bell rings and Champion is amazed Thing lasted.

Round Two

Thing thinks how he has to stay out of Champion’s reach. He says that he can’t let Champion “tag me with a long one!” Champion says that Thing’s strategy is completely transparent. Champion hits Thing with an uppercut that sends him bouncing off the top of the force field. Thing tries to land on Champion, but Champion moves out of the way sending Thing through the canvas. The ref says that he guesses that he must award Champion a TKO (technical knockout). Thing crawls out of the hole and says that he hasn’t even begun to fight.

The ring is repaired between rounds. The crowd watches in horror as the match continues.
