Iron Man #274- flashback- Fin Fang Foom, and other Dragons from the planet Kakaranathara, grow bored with their peaceful and perfect world and head out into space to find action. They found the most violent planet in the galaxy…earth. But they crashed their ship and stranded themselves there. The Dragons learned how to take on human forms.
Iron Man #272- flashback- An alien ship crashes on Earth. The captain calls for the crew of ten to each hand over their ring that controls the power of the ship. In keeping with the ancient custom the rings are set upon the central dais so that if necessary one of them could pilot the ship themselves. The crew is stranded on this barous uncertain world.

Iron Man #272- Chen Hsu, the captain of the long stranded space ship, mentally contacts his navigator, Fin Fang Foom. Fin Fang Foom asks that the Captain not stop him now for in another moment he will destroy the “armored one”. Tony Stark finds out through the Chinese Premier that Iron Man has been defeated by Fin Fang Foom. Stark mentally commands an Iron Man armor from his hotel room. Mandarin stands with Fin Fang Foom and Chen Hsu and says that it was too easy. He says that Iron Man should not have fallen in less than twelve hours. Chen starts to suggest that perhaps the weakness was Mandarin’s when they hear a noise. They see another Iron Man coming. Mandarin says that he senses the presence to his old greatest foe and says that this is the real Iron Man. Iron Man flies at Fin Fang Foom.
Iron Man #273- Chen Hsu mentally contacts the other dragons to come to him and Fin Fang Foom. Iron Man, who unknown to the others is just a remote controlled armor, blasts Foom with a repulsor. Iron Man breaks a huge chunk of rock, but Foom blasts Iron Man with his fiery breath. Some of the circuits in the suit begin to fuse. Iron Man throws the rock, but Foom easily dodges it as Iron Man is moving slower because of the relay of the commands having to go through a satellite. Foom swings at Iron Man, and when Iron Man dodges the fist Foom connects with his tail. Iron Man gets back up and hooks up two power lines to his armor. He blasts Foom and knocks him over. Mandarin steps in to fight Iron Man. Mandarin animates a giant rock and has it fall on Iron Man. Twenty minutes later Iron Man digs his way out of the rock to find Mandarin and Foom waiting for him. Mandarin and Foom start to attack Iron Man. Iron Man is forced to retreat. Foom shouts that he must not get away and rob him of his victory. Foom says that he is going to chase him down, but Mandarin says that he promised Iron Man death although he has no interest in the death of cowards. Mandarin turns to Jim Rhodes in the broken Iron Man suit and says that he will die instead. Suddenly Mandarin is stunned to see the other dragons joining Fin Fang Foom.
Iron Man #274- Foom shouts, “The Dragons! The
Dragons! The Hour of Gathering has come at last!” The
Dragons all bellow in unison and the Mandarin screams in agony,
as the noise is about to split his head open. Chen Hsu turns into
a dragon as well and joins Foom and the others. Mandarin
recognizes the face of Chen Hsu, the man he had thought was his
friend, and realizes that he has no idea what has been going on
around him. The Dragons bellow. Soon Chen Hsu and the other
dragons take human form and approach Mandarin. Mandarin asks Chen
Hsu if he has come to mock him, but Chen Hsu says that Mandarin
has learned much that will serve him as the Dragons take over the
planet. Chen Hsu says that it is now time to turn over the rings
to their rightful owners. Mandarin refuses saying that Chen Hsu
was teaching him how to be the world’s ruler and now he is
expected to be a servant. Mandarin says that where he rules he
rules alone. Chen Su, Foom, and the other original ring holders
begin to tap into the rings’ powers and they start to use it
against Mandarin to get him to release the rings. Chen Hsu says
that if Mandarin resists that his fingers will simply come off
with the rings. Mandarin is in agony, but he does not weaken. He
uses the lessons that Chen Hsu taught him and turns the center of
his suffering into an unbreakable resolve. Mandarin takes
possession of the rings full power. He laughs. Chen Hsu says that
Mandarin’s mammalian traits are all that prevent him from
mastering the rings. Mandarin blasts at Chen Hsu, but Chen has
transformed back to dragon form. Foom tells Chen Hsu that he must
kill Mandarin now. Chen agrees, but when he breathes fire at
Mandarin the rings are now instinctually responding to Mandarin
and shield him. Mandarin and the Dragons find themselves
stalemated when Iron Man arrives.
Iron Man #275- The Dragons attack Iron Man, but Iron Man is dodging their attacks. The fighting goes back and forth between the Dragons and Iron Man. Jim Rhodes tries to interfere, but Foom just grabs him and throws him away. The Mandarin joins Iron Man in the fight against the Dragons. Chen Hsu changes into his Dragon form and says that it is time to end this foolishness. Chen Hsu says that Mandarin doesn’t have the power to wield the rings as they do. Iron Man thinks and then tells the Mandarin to give him the rings. Mandarin says that Iron Man must be mad to think he would give his greatest weapon to his greatest enemy. Iron Man and Mandarin lock hands, but Iron Man moves around behind Mandarin and uses his own power to power the Mandarin’s rings. The resulting power is noticed worldwide. A piece of fabric of creation is ripped from its proper space and time. The power waves continue for sixteen hours, and when they finally stop the Dragons and the Mandarin are nowhere to be found.

Iron Man vol. 3 #16- Billy Yuan looks at the dragon statue again and thinks that it seems to have grown. The statue speaks to Billy inside his head. It tells Billy that he is fascinated with him and that he can’t look away. The statue has Billy tell it about himself. Billy has a sister that his drug-dealing friends helped put in a coma with their drugs. The statue tells Billy that it can help him and then instructs Billy to steal it from the curio shop. Billy grabs the statue and runs. Later Billy sits staring at the statue. The statue tells Billy that it is the bestower of true power. The statue starts to move and it cuts Billy’s arm. Billy wants it to let go, but the statue says that is no longer possible, as Billy’s blood is now its blood. Billy starts to transform. Tony Stark is having lunch with a date when he hears the news report of a large creature causing destruction. He goes to investigate. Billy is now very much reptilian in form, and he still has the statue wrapped around his arm. Billy rips the ATM machine out of the wall. Iron Man is arriving, and the voice tells Billy to stop the approaching challenger. Billy spits fire onto Iron Man, but Iron Man’s suit extinguishes it. Iron Man blasts Billy. Billy gets up and charges Iron Man, but Iron Man easily evades him. The voice gets frustrated with Billy’s inability to fight and takes control of his body. No longer Billy the dragon smashes Iron Man through the ground into the sewers. Rats start to swarm onto Iron Man, and the statue's power transforms them into lizards. Iron Man blasts them off and then hits “Billy” up and out of the sewer. Billy grows wings, but Iron Man flies up and attacks him. Iron Man knocks out Billy, but as he lies on the ground unconscious thousands of lizards come out of the sewer and swarm over his body. Iron Man notices that they are actually merging. “Billy” is transformed into Fin Fang Foom.

- Fin Fang Foom spits fire at Iron Man but misses. Iron
Man tries high-frequency ultrasonics, but Foom swats Iron Man
with his tail as he clutches his ears. Iron Man is driven through
one high rise and gets wedged into another. Foom palms Iron Man
and says that Iron Man probably thought that he was destroyed,
but that it is now Iron Man who will die. Iron Man’s boot
jets throw Foom off balance and knock him over. Iron Man blasts
Foom, but it is little more than a sting to him. Foom flies after
Iron Man. Inside Foom’s head floats the form of Billy Yuan.
Foom says that Billy surprises him and that he did not expect
such persistence. Billy recognizes the voice, and Foom reminds
him of their deal. Foom gave him power and now he is in control
of Billy’s body. Iron Man notices that Fin Fang Foom is just
staring off into space. As Foom is yelling at Billy for his
defiance Iron Man flies down Foom’s throat hoping that he is
more vulnerable inside than his tough hide is on the outside.
Foom spits Iron Man out with a peal of fire. Iron Man creates
some holographic Iron Men to distract Foom, but Foom says that he
doesn’t have time for this and dives into the water. Iron
Man goes in after him, but Foom has shrunken down to a tenth of
his size and has buried himself in the bed. Foom says that he
will go after Iron Man as soon as he gets Billy out of his
memory. Foom breathes on Billy, but Billy is unharmed inside his
mind. Foom thinks that he must get Billy to fight him so he can
destroy him. Foom rises up to his full size and flies to the
hospital he saw inside Billy’s mind. Foom finds Billy’s
sister in her coma. Foom is trying to get Billy to try and stop
him, but suddenly Iron Man is back and he hits Foom across the
head. Foom breaths fire on Iron Man, but Iron Man is using the
fire to boost his power. Iron Man fires the power back on Foom as
pulse bolts. Foom falls into the water. When he comes up he
discovers that the other Iron Men are illusions. Billy uses
Foom’s tail and wraps it around Foom’s throat. Iron Man
has a battleship fire seven surface to air missile (SAMS) at
Foom. Billy opens Foom’s up to leave him wide open for their
impact. Iron Man blasts Foom with another pulse bolt. Foom falls
over backwards. Inside his mind Billy Yuan dies. Outside Foom
says, “Arrogant insect! I shall not… be defeated…
by the sacrifice of… one lone mortal.” Foom’s eyes
close and he collapses.
