Man-Beast

There is a joke in the movie Natural Born Killers about a woman who finds an injured snake. She finds the snake, takes it in, and nurses it back to health. After the snake is better it bites the woman. The woman looks stunned at the snake wondering how it could treat her so. The snakes says to her, "Look you stupid !@#!$& you knew I was a snake." The situation could be easily applicaple to the High Evolutionary. One can only imagine what he thought was going to happen when he evolved a wolf into it's ultimate form. Well now he knows that he gets the Man-Beast. Seems like most of us could've guessed that.

Thor #134- The High Evolutionary is about to create a brand new New-Man as Thor is brought captive into Wundagore. Also below Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver spot Wundagore and recall stories of their birth. Evolutionary says that he has never worked with a wolf before. Evolutionary says that the wolf’s basic inherent savagery is greater than any other animal’s. He says it should be an interesting transformation. Evolutionary starts the process and watches as the wolf’s structure alters from “temporal motion”. Evolutionary remarks about all the changes he has made without any failures. Evolutionary says that he is achieving in one experiment what it would take a million centuries to achieve. Suddenly Thor barges into the Genetic Chamber even though he is restrained by a few New-Men. Thor wants to know where Jane Foster is. High Evolutionary directs him, but by the time Thor leaves High Evolutionary finds that he has left his evolutionary ray unattended for too long. Evolutionary can’t get close enough to the ray to stop it. Evolutionary says that if the wolf survives it will be a combination of the supreme man and the supreme beast. Man-Beast emerges from the machine. He says, “I live, I feel, and more I hate!” Man-Beast probes his surroundings and senses life. Man-Beast feels that all life is his enemy. Man-Beast senses Thor and Jane Foster.

Thor #135- Man-Beast phases through the wall with his mental powers. Man-Beast tells Thor that he can sense the pressure points on Thor that are most vulnerable. Man-Beast then uses a form of karate that has not been invented yet to knock Thor down. Man-Beast tries to paralyze Thor, but doesn’t account for the fact that Thor is a god. Thor hits Man-Beast. High Evolutionary arrives saying that he created Man-Beast, and he will destroy him. Evolutionary hits Man-Beast’s ears with a sub-sonic discordian that is like a dog whistle in that only Man-Beast’s ears can hear it. Man-Beast holds his ears and runs. Thor tries to hit Man-Beast with his hammer, but Man-Beast gets out of range of the discordian and erects a field of mental repulsion. Man-Beast then closes himself inside the High Evolutionary’s genetic laboratory, and erects an anti-matter field to prevent any from following. Knights outside Wundargore report that they see the rays of life glowing. Evolutionary places an induction device on the wall that will cause Man-Beast to come out. The door open and Man-Beast’s evil New-Men rush out. A fight breaks out. Thor realizes that Man-Beast did not let his followers become as powerful as he is. When the Man-Beast reaches the High Evolutionary Thor rushes to Evolutionary’s side. Man-Beast tries to disintegrate Thor’s hammer with a mind blast. Thor says Man-Beast might hold the power of the future, but that he holds the power of eternity. Thor knocks out Man-Beast. Evolutionary, realizing that the evil New-Men are not responsible for their creation, has Man-Beast and the evil New-Men loaded into the Star Chamber, and launched to uninhabited Dromisana for a new lease on life.

Marvel Premiere #1

Warlock #1- Warlock is going to try and stop the Man-Beast so that the good in the people of Counter-Earth can show. Warlock senses evil and comes upon a prophet. The prophet says that he has come to pave the way for another to walk. He says the other will help them as he cannot. The crowd laughs at him, but the prophet says that is exactly what “they” want. He says that the world is doomed. A woman asks Warlock to save her brother, the prophet. Warlock asks whom he is saving him from. The woman points to the top of a building and Warlock recognizes the minions of the Man-Beast. The minions attack and Warlock and his teenage followers fight. Warlock asks the prophet why he doesn’t raise a hand to defend himself. The prophet says that he doesn’t seek to prove himself, but Warlock. Haukk and Pih-Junn attack Warlock. Warlock beats the New-Men, but they get away. Warlock goes back to question the prophet. The prophet says that voices in his head tell him to warn against the Man-Beast and that they say that Warlock has come to oppose the Man-Beast. Warlock wants the prophet to take him to Man-Beast. Warlock leaves his four followers with the prophet’s sister. The prophet leads warlock through the sewers and to the lair of the Man-Beast. Warlock fights his way to the throne to find a mannequin. The prophet takes off his face to reveal that he is the Man-Beast. Man-Beast says that Warlock will leave his stronghold as his ally against the High Evolutionary or not at all.

Warlock #2- The New-Men hold Warlock as Man-Beast, now dressed as himself, makes Warlock an offer. He offers to rule this world with Warlock. Warlock says that that to rule you must conquer, and that to conquer one must destroy. Warlock says that the only one he wants to destroy is Man-Beast. Man-Beast tells Warlock to remember his origins and that his wolf side would rend him for that. Kohbra tells Man-Beast to kill him, but Man-Beast says that warlock would make a powerful ally. Man-Beast asks what human life is to one who has experienced divine perfection. Warlock gets angry and breaks from the grip of the New-Men. Warlock beats up the New-Men. Warlock leaps at Man-Beast, but Monck catches Warlock around the neck with a chain. Warlock uses his gem and de-evolves Monck into a gibbon. Man-Beast says that he would have peace between them. Warlock says it is his men attacking. Man-Beast tells Warlock to face him and he will be given sanctuary. Kohbra tells Man-Beast that using the gem weakens Warlock, and that he should kill him while he can. Man-Beast strikes Kohbra and asks how dare he impose on his will. Man-Beast says that his creations are rebellious, but that he will always prevail. Warlock allows Man-Beast to speak. Man-Beast says that he respects Warlock’s power, and that there is much they could share as equals. Man-Beast’s cape wraps around Warlock and they fly upwards to the surface. Man-Beast thinks to himself that corrupting Warlock will nullify his power with the universe. Man-Beast says that he would give his domain to Warlock if he just accepts his rule. Warlock refuses loyal to the High Evolutionary. Man-Beast tries to hypnotize Warlock and get him to admit that there is no good in the people of this world. Warlock resists the control. Man-Beast says that Warlock speaks of friendship and trust yet shows him that all four of his followers disavow him to the angry crowd that surrounds them. Warlock is furious. He says he will trust no more. Warlock releases his full power, but his first target is Man-Beast who is sent flying away. Warlock goes on a rampage. He finally comes face to face with his four former followers. Warlock realizes his error. Warlock’s friends turn into the Man-Beast. Man-Beast has hypnotized Warlock and his rampage was only imagined. The killings were impersonal, but were only a test to see if he would kill his friends for real. If Warlock had killed his four friends then the destruction would have been true. He would have become as evil as Man-Beast. High Evolutionary would have admitted defeat and destroyed Counter-Earth. Man-Beast said his victory would have caused High Evolutionary great pain. He said it might still as he attacks Warlock. Warlock starts winning and Man-Beast starts to de-evolve. Man-Beast vanishes.

Warlock #4- behind the scenes- Rex Carpenter stops Triax with the force of his personality.

Warlock #8- As protestors shout outside President Carpenter forms a special council to find a way to deal with what he calls the world’s greatest threat- Adam Warlock. Suddenly the demons Aggression and Truth arrive and start fighting with the protestors, but the police can’t see the monsters and think that the protestors have started rioting. Asterella shows Warlock the fight on television and confesses that she is the president’s sister and that he must not go to Washington. Later Rex Washington goes to talk directly to Warlock’s supporters. The two demons from earlier grab a protestors child. They throw it back and forth until Rex Carpenter glares at them. The demons take off to fight Warlock as he arrives. Warlock dispels their illusions and reveals the truth. Warlock finds himself in Rex Carpenter’s office. Asterella is there to stand by her bother. Warlock is stunned by the look on Rex’s face. Rex asks if Warlock would say his face reeked of evil. Rex says that all the past leads to this moment. He says that he took a man and made him into a candidate, and has that man speak with hypnotic words that few could resist. Rex says that he needed no political party because his power assured his election. He said that there were few, like Triax, that could see through his disguise. Rex says that Rex’s sister knew the truth and came close to prematurely betraying him, but he has chose to reveal himself to Warlock. Man-Beast stands before Warlock. He says that he disappeared into Rex during Warlock #2. Warlock realizes that it is Man-Beast who turned Reed Richards into the Brute, and has tried to turn the country against him. Man-Beast says that with his demon aides, Aggression and Untruth, Warlock’s doom is near.

Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #176- On Counter-earth, after our Earth’s Bruce Banner hulks out and crashes out of a hospital a call is made from a Colonel to a General. The General calls the President…President Carpenter. President Carpenter is spending time as his true self- the Man-Beast. One of his lackeys asks Man-Beast if it is news about Warlock’s disciples. Man-Beast says that they will find them soon, and that within a week’s time the resistance will be crushed, and America will be at war with its most cherished allies. Man-Beast says that of the ashes that remain the Man-Beast will rule over all. He sends his followers out after the Hulk after laying out his plan for them. After they go Man-Beast checks in with Lizhardus. He says that Lizhardus has had his prisoner for two weeks and he stills hasn’t broken his will. Lizhardus says that he shrugs off each test as though it didn’t exist. He suggests moving on to Operation Smear. Later Man-Beasts thralls manage to knock Hulk out with some type of tranquilizing helmet of Man-Beast’s design. Hulk turns into Banner. Later still the Recorder, working for the High Evolutionary, knocks out Lizhardus and opens Adam Warlock’s prison.

Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #177- Man-Best watches from the Oval Office as the New-Men bring Banner to him. Man-Beast says that soon he will have his revenge on High Evolutionary for banishing him from Wundagore. Man-Beast gets a call from Lizhardus that someone knocked him out, and then saved Adam Warlock. Man-Beast throws the phone. Man-Beast had wanted to break Warlock’s will, but now Warlock must be destroyed. Man-Beast finds out that Banner is Hulk. He says that it isn’t their Banner, but it hardly matters. All that matters is that he is the Hulk, and that he was known to associate with Warlock’s followers. Man-Beast puts an implant on Hulk’s neck so they can trace him. Man-Beast then saps Banner’s will and makes him his pawn. The test the tracer with a sonic probe. Bruce hulks out from the pain. Man-Beast tells the New-Men not to let Hulk get away because his control is not complete, but Hulk blasts a hole in the ground and gets away. Hulk is seen by Warlock’s followers (who recognize Hulk from Hulk #158). Hulk is taken to meet Adam Warlock at their headquarters. Man-Best uses the tracer to pinpoint Warlock’s headquarters. Man-Beast then activates the sonic probe again. Hulk starts freaking out and smashing things. Warlock suspects Man-Beast’s involvement and asks the New Men not to hurt Hulk. Warlock is about to engage Hulk when Man-Beast arrives and shoots Warlock and Hulk with a ray paralyzing them. Man-Beast says that Warlock never stood a chance against his genius, but that he was always a pawn in his plan. Man-Beast says Warlock always assumed the rivalry was between them, but that the rivalry is really Man-Beast against the High Evolutionary. Warlock strikes out with his Soul Gem, but its power is met with Man-Beast’s power of hate. Hulk rams into Man-Beast destroying the micro transmitter that was causing his sonic probe. Man-Beast blasts Hulk with another machine that transforms him into Bruce Banner. Man-Beast’s New Men also capture Warlock. Warlock says he has been Man-Beast’s prisoner before, and that he isn’t scared. Man-Beast says that he should be because he no longer desires to control Warlock, but to kill him in a public trial. Man-Beast walks down a corridor where Rex Carpenter and his sister Asterella are being held. Man-Beast takes over Rex’s body again. President Carter appears before the public daily convincing them that Warlock is their enemy with hypnosis. Finally a huge crowd comes for Warlock’s execution. President Carpenter asks if Warlock should live or die. The hypnotized crowd answers death. Bruce Banner is held on stage to watch. Warlock shouts the question of why the High Evolutionary has forsaken him. Warlock dies and his body enters into a cocoon.

Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #178- Bruce hulks out. Hulk grabs Warlock’s cocoon. Carpenter says to let him go because their machines read that Warlock is dead. Carpenter gets in his car and drives back. Elsewhere Hulk meets up with Warlock’s followers that got away. They place Warlock’s body in a cave where the sunlight strikes it. Man-Beast puts Carpenter’s body back in the cell with his sister. Man-Beast has decided to appear as himself because if he does not conquer the world he will destroy it. Sunday morning Man-Beast calls in the heads of the military. He orders them to prepare their forces for war. They have no choice but to do what he orders because he is their president. Missiles, jets, and tanks all over the world are readied. Man-Beast goes to activate the nuclear arsenal, but finds that the generals have deactivated the console. Hulk and Warlock’s New Men attack Man-Beast and his forces. Man-Beast hits Hulk with the power of his hate force. Man-Beast is stunned that Hulk survived. Hulk says he feels hate from people all the time. He says that he can hate too, and that he hates Man-Beast. Hulk throws Man-Beast. Man-Beast uses his hate force to knock the ceiling down on Hulk. One of Man-Beast’s thralls gores to kill Rex Carpenter because he knows too much about them if they lose. Two reporters help free Rex Carpenter and his sister. Hulk gets up and is angry. He throws a machine and Man-Beast’s thralls start to run. Hulk lifts Man-Beast over his head, but suddenly he is stopped by a resurrected Warlock. Warlock devolves the evil New Men to their original forms. Man-Beast says that he was never that powerful before. Warlock says he was a man before, but now he is power. Warlock devolves Man-Beast. The wolf runs away. Warlock says he has to go defeat Man-Beast where he hasn’t been revealed for if man doesn’t fight his evil inside Man-Beast will live again.

Spectacular Spider-Man #15- flashback- Man-Beast is stuck in his wolf form. He runs from some hunters. Eventually Warlock’s absence on Counter-Earth caused the effect of Warlock’s power to fade on Man-Beast. Man-Beast regains his powers and form. Counter-Earth was on guard against him so Man-Beast disguised himself as a human. Man-Beast became an astronaut and launched off Counter-Earth. For months Man-Beast stayed disguised until he could alter the ship’s controls to pierce the time lag barrier that kept Counter-Earth from Earth. Man-Beast was then free to wreak havoc on the original Earth. Man-Beast lands in western Vietnam. Man-Beast became associated with Achmed Kobra. Kobra became Brother Power. Brother Power’s power was fueled by his wedding to Sha Shan, or Sister Sun.

Spectacular Spider-Man #15- Man-Beast blasts Spider-Man, Razorback, and Flash Thompson backwards. Spider-Man shields Flash with his body as Man-Beast blasts them through a wall. Razorback and Flash are out. Spider-Man is conscious, but hurts too much to move. Man-Beast says that they still live because he has plans for them in the Legion of Light rally Man-Beast’s servant, Brother Power, is holding above them. Man-Beast tells Spider-Man that he likes wearing the mantle of the Hate Monger while Brother Power wins him converts in the name of love. Man-Beast throws Spider-Man. Man-Beast then blasts the ceiling above Spider-Man. Man-Beast wants to turn his followers love into hate. He plans for the blasted part of the ceiling to fall in killing both Spider-Man and hundreds of his followers. When Spidey’s body is found the remainder of the ground will blame and hate Spider-Man. Man-Beast is offered his mask, but refuses saying it is time for others to see his true face. Man-Beast walks away and Spider-Man tries to brace the ceiling as it starts to crumble. Man-Beast sits on a chair with an amplifier helmet on where the crowd’s hate will power him. Razorback wakes up and they manage to hold it up long enough to save everyone’s life. The crowd spots them below and figures them as saboteurs. Through the helmet Sha Shan wears Man-Beast can read her mind. He says she is right to be scared and that he had prepared for her opposition all along. Razorback tries to hold the crowd off as Spidey and Flash try to stop Man-Beast. The followers catch Razorback. Man-Beast says that nobody died and that the power of the hate isn’t as great as he had hoped. Man-Beast appears before the crowd as a giant electrical face of the Man-Beast. He tells them to kill the unbelievers. Some manage to resist, but a lot are also worked up into a murderous rage. Sha Shan tries to sway the crowd, but Man-Beast frees Brother Power’s link to her and lets him attack her. Spidey fights past Man-Beast’s guards. Man-Beast blasts Spider-Man. Razorback’s sister, one of Man-Beast’s followers, arrives and distracts Man-Beast. Spider-Man hits Man-Beast into his Hate Amplifier. The Amplifier explodes.

Thor #316- flashback- Man-Beast is seen breaking free from the rubble of Yonkers Stadium. Man-Beast says that after three nights the infusion of supreme hate from Spectacular Spider-Man actually strengthened him. Man-Beast rejoins Bi-Beast.

Thor #316- flashback- Bi-Beast and Man-Beast experiment on themselves. Man-Beast absorbs Bi-Beast’s knowledge of science and technology while Bi-Beast’s will to destroy Earth was strengthened by Man-Beast’s power of hate. Bi-Beast’s height is reduced from twenty feet to seven foot eight inches.

Thor #315- behind the scenes- Bi-Beast has teamed up with Man-Beast. Man-Beast hides within the dome of Bi-Beast.

Thor #316- As Bi-Beast is being taken away a ship comes along. A machine drops out of the ship and fires a ray on the Bi-Beast and the police. The ray strengthens Bi-Beast and he shatters his restraints. The ray also causes the police to start to fight with each other. Iron Man and Thor try to stop Bi-Beast and keep the police from killing each other respectively. Iron Man is about to hit Bi-Beast when the ship uses a tractor beam to pick Bi-Beast up into the ship. The thing blows out Bi-Beast’s dome and they fly away. Iron Man manages to damage the ship, but the ship blasts Iron Man out of the sky. The ship is crashed and Bi-Beast is whining to itself about its losses and loss of height from their experiment with Man-Beast. Man-Beast tells them to shut up and get supplies to fix the ship. The heads are arguing with each other about obeying when Man-Beast blasts him. After Bi-Beast leaves Man-Beast curses Bi-Beast’s stupid vengeance for Earth. He says he only needs Bi-Beast to get him back to Counter-Earth. AS they force others to fix their ship Thor and Iron Man catch up. Man-Beast says that his hate ray will have no effect on a god or an armored man. Man-Beast blasts Thor while Iron Man fights Bi-Beast. Man-Beast throws a RV at Thor, but Thor shatters it with his hammer. They all fight back and forth until Bi-Beast goes down. Man-Beast makes a run for it, but Thor and Iron Man blast his ship as it goes. Man-Beast crashes into quicksand. Thor and Iron Man miss the ship as it sinks below. They take Bi-Beast in.

Thor #317- Man-Thing, who had boarded Man-Beast’s craft last issue, watches the unconscious Man-Beast. Man-Thing is fascinated with Man-Beast’s ability to cause fear in nearly every being it encounters and the fact that hate pours out of his unconscious body. Man-Thing pulls Man-Beast to safety. For reasons unknown even to itself Man-Thing drags Man-Beast to NASA, and then sits back to observe. Man-Beast wakes up confused. Man-Beast says he was headed for NASA when his ship went down. Man-Beast rips open the fence and walks in. Man-Beast blasts the two guards at the checkpoint, and they start to fight each other leaving Man-Beast to walk through. Coincidentally enough Don Blake was getting a tour of the base when he hears reports of a wolfman. The ship is about to be launched with a fifteen-minute countdown. The count is down to 298 seconds when Control gets word of the intruder. They are about to abort the launch when Man-Beast blasts the doors open. Man-Beast blasts them with hate rays causing them to fight over canceling the launch. Man-Beast says that he can’t be stopped. Man-Beast says that he will use the weather satellite to reach Counter-Earth again though he is unaware that it has been moved from its previous location. The countdown is down to 196 as Man-Beast gets done climbing to the entrance of the rocket. A female astronaut, Diane, tries to stop him, but he bats her aside. Suddenly Thor’s hammer bounces off Man-Beast’s face. Man-Beast tries to blast Thor, but Thor flies up at him. Thor hits Man-Beast. The countdown is down to fifty-three as Man-Beast punches Thor. The countdown is down to ten as they fall into the shuttle. At the last possible second Man-Beast punches Thor out of the ship. The shuttle takes off with Mjolnir still in it. Thor leaps onto the shuttle trying to get his hammer before the sixty seconds are up. Man-Beast can’t lift the hammer of course. He goes to bypass the ship to take full control. Diane fastens herself to a bulkhead. She blows the hatch and both she and Man-Beast fall out of the ship. Thor grabs his hammer. Man-Beast kicks Thor, but Thor blocks Man-Beast’s killing blow. Man-Beast rips off a chunk of the ship to throw at Thor. Thor smashes it. Man-Beast leaps at Thor. Thor hits Man-Beast and Man-Beast floats aimlessly in space.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #4- flashback- After Counter-Earth was moved, the planet was later destroyed when Thanos messed around with reality during the time he had the Infinity Gauntlet. Counter-Earth was destroyed, but a being called Omega saved twelve of the doomed souls. Omega transformed the twelve into the embodiment of pure hatred. The Omega then caused the twelve to believe that everything that ever went wrong in their lives was because of High Evolutionary. Omega sends “They” after High Evolutionary.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #3- As Pip the troll joyrides in an Avengers quinjet he is captured. An armored soldier radios back that Pip is in transport. Elsewhere Warlock finds that High Evolutionary witnessed the birth of a Celestial and it was more than his mind could bear. The New-Men have been trying to get him medical aid, but “They”, a band of powerful beings that seek the High Evolutionary’s death, have made it impossible. Later, Drax the Destroyer is called upon by a ship to help them in an emergency. Drax says that he is in a rush to get back to Titan to watch Alf. The ship says that they have a complete video collection of Alf’s cartoon show and offers Drax a dupe. Drax enters. Omega comes out with a bouquet of flowers. Drax asks about the tapes, but Omega just sticks the flowers under Drax’s nose. Drax collapses. Back to Warlock, “They” find High Evolutionary and attack. Warlock tells the New Men to attack so he can see their strengths and weaknesses. “They” slaughter the New Men.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #4- Omega ambushes the ship Moondragon and Gamorra are on with ultrasonics. Omega boards their ship as Moondragon and Gamorra lay unconscious on the ground. Elsewhere Warlock’s Soul Gem reacts as it used to- it protects Warlock on its own. Warlock learns the secret origin of “They” from the soul he absorbs from one of “They”. He confronts “They” and asks if they do not remember the one they swore never to forget. They recognize him as Warlock. Warlock asks them if they put their new savior, the Omega, before him. “They” explode from a crisis of identity and duty to their two saviors.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #5- Omega says that the fruits of vengeance ripen. His armored servant says that it seems that they are rotting. His servant asks Omega if he should call him by his real name. Omega says no, that subterfuge has served them well so far. Omega says to look at the containment unit where Drax, Pip, Moondragon, and Gamorra float wearing their Infinity Gems. Omega says that they are ready to be exploited. His ally asks why they do not simply take the gems and use them in the manner that Thanos had. Omega says that he will not repeat the mistakes of others. Omega says that some power is too great for even the wiliest intellects to directly control. Omega says that he will master control of them. He says his first test will be to eliminate their old foe. After finding out where Omega was from Thanos Warlock heads towards Omega. His servant asks if he can be the one to kill him. Omega says that Warlock is a resurrected foe, and they don’t know what his power currently is. Omega sends automatons after Warlock, and if they fail then his servant can try to kill him. His servant says that his sole defeat was against Warlock, and that he won’t fail again. Omega says that while flipping a switch and getting what you want isn’t as exciting as simply wishing for it, but that instruments can help maintain control of the power. Warlock goes through the automatons in seconds as Warlock fights his servant Omega gains control of the Time, Space, Mind, and Power Gems. Omega brings forth a little power from each gem to create a being. Omega says that with his new thrall he need not hide himself anymore. Warlock defeats Omega’s first thrall and discovers him to be Triax from Counter-Earth. Warlock realizes that Omega is Man-Beast. He turns and faces Man-Beast standing before a giant beast crackling with energy. Man-Beast refers to him as the Infinity Thrall.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #6- Man-Beast commands the Infinity Thrall to kill Warlock. Warlock quickly realizes that he is going to need to run for it to survive. He tries blasting the thrall with his Soul Gem, but it does no good. Warlock keeps running. Man-Beast tells Warlock that he cannot escape his thrall. Man-Beast activates the Space Gem and causes the thrall to appear before Warlock. Warlock heads the other direction. The thrall blasts Warlock with eye beams. Man-Beast says that Warlock disappoints him. He isn’t the hero that defeated Thanos, Magus, and himself. Warlock realizes that the longer Man-Beast has to master the instrumentality of his thrall the harder he will be to defeat. The answer dawns on Warlock. Warlock offers Man-Beast a chance to surrender, but Man-Beast replies by trying to smash Warlock. He flies onward with the thrall chasing him. The thrall catches Warlock and manages to knock Warlock down. As the thrall pulls back Triax shouts “No!”, and tries to stop Man-Beast. Man-Beast swats Triax away and asks what his problem is. Triax tells Man-Beast to look where Warlock is standing, but by then it is too late. The thrall smashes the machinery that gave Man-Beast control of the gems. Man-Beast and Triax escape the ship before it explodes, but doesn't have time to get any of the gems off the Watch. Man-Beast says that it is too bad it didn't work out since he would have worn the title of supremacy well.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #28- Captain America, Warlock, and confront Senator Munson at the UN building. Senator Munson gets up in front of the other delegates to warn them about the Infinity Watch. Munson has been warning the UN against them for a while, and is trying to seize the island that the Watch currently resides on. Senator Munson says that the Avengers were sent to Monster Isle to evict the Infinity Watch, but that they haven’t been heard from since. Munson says that they must assume that the Avengers have been killed. Munson says that they will be avenged, but suddenly Captain America, Vision, and Warlock appear. Warlock addresses the delegates. He confirms Munson’s accusations that he has a pact with Mole Man. Warlock further says that Mole Man wants his sovereignty recognized, and that the Infinity Watch will be his enforcers. Munson is outraged and orders Captain America to arrest him. Cap says no and Warlock says that this man is not Senator Munson. Warlock reveals that Munson is actually the Man-Beast. Man-Beast curses Warlock and attacks. Cap and Vision come to help, but Triax attacks them from behind. Man-Beast says that he has dreamt of bloody retribution on Warlock for costing him a world he ruled, and for turning him into a galactic fugitive. Triax had floored Captain America. Man-Beast blasts Vision out, and then Triax and Man-Beast team up on Warlock. Warlock says that things are different now that he has grown accustomed to his body. Man-Beast says that he has always been Warlock’s physical superior. Warlock quickly knocks out Triax and then turns towards Man-Beast. Warlock says that this is Man-Beast’s end. Man-Beast says that he was created to counter balance Warlock- that he is the destruction that allows creation. Warlock beats Man-Beast unconscious. He goes to kill Man-Beast, but Cap and Vision won’t let him. Cap says that the US has a prison for super-villains. Warlock reluctantly agrees.

Quicksilver #10- Lord Anon trains with the other Knights of Wundagore. He slices a robot in half with his sword. High Evolutionary is nearly ready to go reclaim Wundagore from Exodus.

Heroes for Hire #15- White Tiger is brought back to report to High Evolutionary. She explains that HE created her specifically to deal with the Man-Beast. White Tiger tells High Evolutionary that Man-Beast escaped from the Vault before she could reach him. He asks why she is associated with the Heroes for Hire. Tiger reveals that she thought that they might help them take Wundagore from Exodus. As Tiger goes to bring back the H4H Lord Anon says that he will be watching her. Later, High Evolutionary asks why Lord Anon has disturbed him when he asked that he was not to be disturbed. Lord Anon says that Quicksilver has not returned from taking the quinjet back to the Avengers. High Evolutionary says that they will not wait for him as he has been a disappointment. Lord Anon inquires about the staff High Evolutionary holds. High Evolutionary says that he built it to house and help him channel the power of Isotope E. Isotope E is the only thing that steadies Evolutionary’s wildly fluctuating powers. It is also what Exodus craves most. Later Lord Anon says that he has finished his preparations, but then finds that White Tiger and the Heroes for Hire have returned. White Tiger immediately recognizes him even with the mask. She leaps at him, but Anon draws his sword and cuts Tiger. He prepares for the killing blow, but Iron Fist steps in. A fight breaks out between the Heroes for Hire and the New Men who don’t realize who Lord Anon is. High Evolutionary comes upon the fight. He quickly ends it be de-evolving all the Heroes for Hire into apes. Lord Anon tells Evolutionary that White Tiger attacked him for no reason. Though she lie badly injured Evolutionary says to leave Tiger while they go to Wundagore to reclaim what is his.

Quicksilver #11

Heroes for Hire #16- White Tiger tells the others (recently re-evolved) in Heroes for Hire that Lord Anon is the Man-Beast. Elsewhere Man-Beast stands triumphantly over the unconscious High Evolutionary while holding his sword and Isotope E. The New Men ask if Man-Beast has killed their master. Man-Beast says that he is holding him hostage against them so that they will follow his orders. Lady Vermin quickly attacks Man-Beast leaving Man-Beast open for the others to charge. Man-Beast uses the scepter with Isotope E to focus his psi-blast. Man-Beast says that they are lucky that he needs Isotope E for a greater purpose or he would change them back into their dumb animal selves. Suddenly Exodus and the Acolytes arrive. Exodus thanks Man-Beast for delivering themselves, the High Evolutionary, and Isotope E to him. Man-Beast says that he has his own vision, and that he will not share Isotope E with anyone. A fight erupts between the New Men and the Acolytes. Man-Beast fights Exodus. Exodus erects a psi-shield against Man-Beast’s blasts. Later the Heroes for Hire arrive. They discover traces of New Men and Acolyte blood. Suddenly Man-Beast and Exodus stand before them. They say that they have found that they are very similar and have decided to join forces. Exodus suggests surrender. The New Men say that they have High Evolutionary and will kill him. They ask that they surrender. Quicksilver tries to grab Isotope E, but Man-Beast erects a shield and sends Quicksilver bouncing backwards. The Heroes for Hire all advance, and only then do they realize that the New Men are forced to fight on the side of Man-Beast, Exodus, and the Acolytes. All the heroes are defeated except Luke Cage who has turned into an ape. He shouts that he is still Luke Cage. Man-Beast asks, “So what?” Man-Beast blasts him with Isotope E. He knocks him out and makes him human. Man-Beast says it matters not if he is ape or human for he will soon be carrion. Man-Beast stands triumphantly with Isotope E raised over his head.

Quicksilver #12- Man-Beast goads Sir Ram saying that it must really bother him to have to take orders from him, and that he controls it all. Man-Beast says that while Exodus can block the effects of the Isotope E on himself he cannot protect the Acolytes as well. Man-Beast says that the only reason he has not killed the New Men is that he may need them against Exodus and the Acolytes. Quicksilver has gotten free of his restraints and he tells the New Men that Man-Beast is lying about having High Evolutionary and that he has not found him within the Citadel. Man-Beast thinks to himself that Isotope E is rapidly depleting. He is trying to find a way to recharge it so that he might kill the New Men and his new “allies”. Suddenly the isotope is gone. Man-Beast shouts for Sir Ram. Sir Ram doesn’t come, but Exodus does. He wants to talk about what is to be done with Isotope E now that their enemies have been defeated. Exodus says that Isotope E must be destroyed after killing all the mutates that High Evolutionary created. Man-Beast says that he is a mutate. Man-Beast says that all he really wants is Wundagore. He proposes that they use the Isotope E to de-evolve all the “Marvels” on Earth so that no one may stop them from their plans. Exodus thinks to himself how the isotope must be weak or that Man-Beast no longer possesses it or Man-Beast would have used it against him. The New men have gone in search of High Evolutionary, and Quicksilver has the isotope. The alarm goes off when Quicksilver is missing. Man-Beast wants to go find the High Evolutionary as leverage to get the isotope back from Quicksilver, but Quicksilver (with the isotope) and the Heroes for Hire attack. Man-Beast sneaks away. He follows the New Men. They find the High Evolutionary, and Man-Beast jumps out saying that he has need of him. Man-Beast takes control of Ursula’s mind. He orders her to take her weapon and kill the other Knights. Ursula decides instead to kill herself. Man-Beast tells the others that he allowed that. Suddenly White Tiger leaps at Man-Beast. Man-Beast finds that his mental powers do not affect White Tiger. He realizes he must give in to his animalistic side. Suddenly High Evolutionary’s powers flux into godlike status. He emerges to find that Quicksilver has used Isotope E to evolve himself into Magneto level powers and that he has claimed the Acolytes for himself.

Heroes for Hire/Quicksilver annual 1998- A huge explosion erupts. The Man-Beast gets back up. He doesn’t see White Tiger around, but does hear a conflict. Man-Beast walks towards it knowing that is where he will find Isotope E. White Tiger is hurt, but follows behind Man-Beast. Man-Beast finds Exodus and Thena. He suggests that they unify their power to take down the High Evolutionary. Thena says that she has formed the uni-mind with the Eternals and leads. Man-Beast and Exodus follow her lead. White Tiger is about to leap and kill Man-Beast, but with his mind linked with Exodus and Thena Iron Fist fears that she may damage Thena too. Iron Fist fights White Tiger. After they strike Man-Beast stands up and wonders who he wants to strike out at first. He unleashes a giant psionic bomb. White Tiger still stands behind him as she is still immune to his powers. White Tiger leaps at Man-Beast. As the fight goes on Delphis, of the Knights of Wundagore, fixes the isotope and stabilizes High Evolutionary. High Evolutionary stands behind Man-Beast and says that if he still desires the isotope he will now receive his just portion. High Evolutionary de-evolves Man-Beast into a wolf and lets him go about his way.
