Morg
Morg has spent a
lifetime serving greater and greater powers. So when Galactus was
eating his world we had what might be seen as the inverse of the
standard Galactus herald- Morg joined Galactus, but not to save
his world. He joined because Galactus was te greatest power trade
up that he could achieve. Morg is eternally devoted to Galactus-
even until death. One can only hope that someone brings back
Galactus' ultimate herald.
Cosmic Powers #5- flashback- Morg was a warrior since the time he was able to lift a weapon. None could defeat him. Morg joined the rebels believing they could overthrow the throne. Morg liked to follow the general's orders. Morg was eventually defeated by the imperial forces' superior numbers. The queen sentenced all Morg's comrades to death. She offers them their lives if they pledge loyalty to the throne. Morg's general spat at the queen's proposal, but Morg accepted the offer. The queen releases Morg. His fellow soldiers yelled that he was a traitor, but Morg wasn't interested in their cause he was only interested in power. As the new executioner Morg killed all his old comrades.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #69- On a planet that won’t be there tomorrow, several prisoners hang inside a dungeon. All are claiming innocence and asking for mercy. Morg comes along and selects one. He chops his head off and says, “Next”.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #70- Galactus brings the defiant Nova, inside a diamond, down to the planet that she tried to hide from him because of all the beings on it. Galactus says that he takes what he needs to live and none stand against him. A voice says that he stands against Galactus. Galactus asks who he is. He says that he is Morg the court executioner, and that he never runs from any challenge. Galactus says that Morg seems unafraid of him. Morg says that he fears no one. Galactus asks if he would be afraid if he knew that he was about to destroy the entire planet. Morg says that if that is within Galactus’ power to do he cannot stop him…he cares not what happens to the world, only his own existence, and he will not die without a fight. Galactus says that Morg is one worth saving. Morg says not to expect him to beg for mercy because he expects none as he grants none. Galactus says that he is sparing Morg for his own purposes, but that his planet is still forfeit. Galactus destroys the planet. Morg floats beside Galactus in a diamond as Nova does. Galactus releases Nova and fires her as his herald. Galactus says that he will have a herald without all the flaws that his previous heralds had. Nova asks that Galactus can’t mean to give this butcher the Power Cosmic. Galactus says that it is time he had a herald more molded in his image without moral shackles. Galactus tells Nova to leave. Galactus asks Morg if he understands and requires his complete loyalty. Morg says he has always served a greater power, and that he will serve Galactus without question. Galactus gives Morg the Power Cosmic. Later the Silver Surfer arrives looking for Nova. Galactus says that Nova is gone. Surfer says that she would never desert him. Galactus says he dismissed her, and that he has a new herald. Galactus introduces the Silver Surfer. He tells Morg that he is an unwelcome guest and to remove him. Morg replies, “Gladly master”.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #71-
Morg charges Silver Surfer right through the wall of
the ship. Surfer says that his business is with Galactus, not his
lackey. Morg says that Galactus has ordered Surfer’s exit,
and he has sworn to obey him. Morg says that he has killed for
another since he was a child, and that Surfer is just another
victim. Surfer says that Morg has much to learn about Galactus as
well as Silver Surfer. Surfer sends Morg flying a glow with
power. Galactus asks if Surfer will ever stop being an annoyance.
He says that perhaps death would have been better than
punishment. Galactus orders Surfer to come. Morg tells him to go.
Surfer says that he follows no one’s orders, and Morg cannot
force him. Surfer is blasting with power, but Morg reaches Surfer
and grabs his hands. Morg restrains Surfer and brings him to
Galactus. Surfer demands he be released. Galactus says that he
wants Surfer’s attention. He says that all his heralds have
been failures, and so he created one without annoying morals.
Surfer says that he will not stand by as Galactus’ butcher
wreaks havoc. Galactus shouts for silence. Galactus says that
there will be no discussion only a warning. He says that his ship
will be cloaked even to Surfer and that if he tries to find him
he will regret it. Galactus tells Morg to deal with Surfer and
then find him a suitable world to devour. Morg strikes Surfer in
the back with his axe. He says that Galactus made Surfer and he
should honor him, or Morg will beat respect into him. Surfer asks
if he challenges Galactus’ first and most powerful herald.
Morg says that Surfer doesn’t impress him. Surfer says he
has the experience, but Morg says he has been battling his whole
life and knows never to hold back. Power shoots out of
Morg’s axe and hits Surfer. Surfer lies injured on his
board. Morg says that he is the new power in the universe, and
that Surfer is old news. Surfer weakly says that he will never
surrender to Morg. Morg says that he didn’t ask that. He
says that the next time Surfer thinks about bothering his master
to think on this. Morg hits Surfer with his axe. Morg tells
Surfer that in their next Morg will kill Surfer. Surfer blacks
out as Morg leaves. Later Galactus contacts Morg. He asks if the
world will satisfy his hunger. Morg says that the world will
suffice and that there will be no resistance from the population.
Morg stands on the planet surrounded by dead people. Surfer
recruits Firelord to oppose Morg with him.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #72- Galactus tells Morg to return to the ship so that he might begin the siphoning process. Morg says that he will be coming as soon as he figures out what these guards are trying to guard with their lives. Morg quickly kills the guards and walks into the cave. He sees a priest on his knees praying. Morg grabs him by the arm and demands to know what this place is. The priest says that he must not tell. Morg says he will spare the lives of he and his people. The priest agrees. He shows Morg the well of life. No one knows where it comes from, and that it was first discovered when his people were young and savage. The priest shows Morg the carvings in the wall that tells of a warrior-king that drank from the well as he was waiting to die from wounds. The water healed him, and helped him turn his people from barbarians and make their world peaceful. Morg says that it is a source of power then. Morg drops the priest and immerses himself in the pool. The priest says that the pool is for anointing not immersion.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #73- Firelord and Surfer get Nova to join them. Morg emerges from the well glowing with power. He flies off the planet saying that he has all the power he needs to destroy any that oppose him. Galactus notices that Morg has augmented himself. He asks if the Power Cosmic he gave him wasn’t enough. Morg says that it was, but when the opportunity to gain more power presented itself he took it in order to better serve Galactus. Galactus says that he is not used to his heralds being so resourceful, and asks if Morg’s new power will give him cause to question Morg’s devotion. Morg says that his loyalty is absolute. Galactus says that he accepts nothing else. He tells Morg to dispatch the siphoning device. Morg says, “I am yours to command.” Surfer, Firelord, and Nova resurrect Air-Walker to find Galactus. Along the way they plan to recruit Terrax against Morg.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #75- Morg stands ready as Galactus lowers the siphoning device. Morg says that the planet’s core has been opened, and that it is ready for Galactus. A voice from behind says that this planet once flourished with life, but because of Morg it has all been sacrificed. He says that Morg cannot be allowed to continue. Morg turns to see Surfer, Firelord, Nova, Air-Walker, and Terrax. Morg says that he promised Surfer that he would kill him if they met again, and that nothing will prevent him from fulfilling that promise. Surfer says that all of Galactus’ “children” have massed against him, and offers him a chance to surrender. Morg says that together they might have overpowered him once, but he now has enough power to take them all out with the same blow. Morg blasts the group. Surfer catches Terrax as he goes flying. Terrax tells Surfer that Morg has more power than all of them combined. He tells Surfer that he must go talk to Galactus to convince him to undo what he has done. Morg blasts Nova, but Air-Walker hits him. Terrax and Nova blast Morg together. Morg is pressing Firelord to the ground with a hand on his staff. He asks Firelord his name because he would know his victims. Air-Walker strikes from behind. Air-Walker knocks Morg’s axe out of his hand disarming him. Morg says that since Air-Walker disarmed him he will return the favor. He rips Air-Walker’s arm off and starts beating him with it. Morg says that he has never killed anything that wasn’t really alive before. Morg gets his axe and drives it into Air-Walker’s chest. Morg says none of them are going to get away. Nova hits Morg high in front while Firelord hits him low and from behind. Morg blasts Nova with his hand, and blasts Firelord off his back with a burst of power. Firelord says to meet him like a warrior. Morg says that he will meet him as his executioner. Firelord’s staff and Morg’s axe meet. Morg knocks the staff from Firelord’s hand. Morg slashes Firelord across his chest. Firelord stares in disbelief at the open wound on his chest and passes out. Morg says as he hauls back his axe that Firelord was hardly worth the effort. Terrax tells Morg to turn and face him then. Surfer convinces Galactus that if he allows Morg to run rampant through the cosmos that heroes will constantly be after him, and Galactus will never get any peace. Morg recognizes that Terrax is more than the others were, and that he knows true battle. Morg and Terrax lock axes. Terrax’s axe shatters in his hands. Morg punches him to the ground. Morg says that Terrax is his most worthy foe, and that he will enjoy his death the most. Nova blasts Morg before he can kill Terrax. Morg is knocked to the ground. Surfer arrives and sees Morg down. Nova asks Surfer if he thinks she might have killed Morg. Morg gets up and says he doesn’t think so. Morg blows a hole through Nova’s back and out through her chest. Nova dies in the Surfer’s arms. Surfer gets up to fight, but Galactus steps in. He says that he is displeased with Morg for destroying one of his creations. He says that he was wrong to allow Morg to augment himself further. He strips Morg of the Power Cosmic until he deems him worthy of it. Morg asks that he be spared this punishment, but Galactus leaves Morg with only the power from the well. Galactus leaves and says that he awaits Morg’s return. Surfer and Morg start to fight. Morg says that he can still take Surfer alone. Terrax rejoins the fight as well. Morg knocks Terrax into Surfer. Air-Walker and Firelord rejoin the fight as well. Terrax picks up his axe and Surfer and he blast Morg. Surfer won’t kill Morg, but Terrax sinks his axe into Morg’s chest. Morg explodes leaving his skeleton. Firelord and Air-Walker offer to be Galactus’ new heralds. Galactus takes Morg’s skeleton as Surfer and the others say goodbye to Nova. A spark fires in Morg’s eye sockets.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #76- Galactus checks in on the regenerative process of Morg.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #77- Firelord and Air-Walker wonder what Galactus is doing behind the closed doors. Inside Galactus completes his task. The regenerative chamber opens, and Morg steps out.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #78- Galactus welcomes Morg back to life. Morg admits that he thought Galactus had forsaken him in #75. Galactus says that he did that for appearances only. Galactus says he knew Morg’s power would sustain a flame of life that he would only need fan to restore Morg to life. Galactus says that Morg was his first loyal herald, and he would see him preserved at any cost. Galactus says he is going to hide Morg’s resurrection from Firelord and Air-Walker because he has other plans for him. Morg mentions that he would be better able to serve Galactus if he had his axe. Galactus says that Terrax has his axe. Morg says that the axe is apart of him, and has always been in his possession. Galactus asks if Morg wishes to retrieve it. Morg says with Galactus’ permission. Galactus says that Morg may go and retrieve his axe, and destroy Terrax if he wants to, but warns him to return quickly or incur his wrath.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #79- Terrax turns unsuspecting, and is blasted by Morg’s energy. Morg says that Terrax has something that belongs to him. Terrax asks how Morg can be alive after he killed him, but Morg only replies that he has come for his axe. Terrax says that if he wants it to come and take it. Terrax charges Morg. Morg grabs the handle as it comes at him. Morg says, “Gladly…and your wretched life with it.”
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #80
-Morg hits Terrax. He tells Terrax to give him the axe,
and he will grant him a quick death. Terrax launches rocks into
Morg’s face, and asks again how Morg stalks him since he is
supposed to be dead. Morg tells Terrax, and says that he will
have his axe back. Terrax hits Morg and says that to the victor
goes the spoils. Terrax says that he will not lose to
Galactus’ toady. Morg hits Terrax in the stomach and tells
him that he should honor he who was his master. Morg headbutts
Terrax, and throws him onto the ground. Morg says that Galactus
fathered them, and Terrax disgraces him. Morg asks if Terrax has
no loyalty. Terrax hits back and says that he has ambition and
lives to conquer. Morg says Terrax lives because of Galactus.
Morg says Terrax has no loyalty, and therefore no honor. Morg
smacks Terrax and takes back his axe. Terrax asks what loyalty
has gotten Morg except servitude. He says they should join
together and subjugate galaxies. Morg hits Terrax and says that
he has not come to join him, but to kill him. Morg pulls back
with his axe to kill Terrax. Suddenly Morg is struck by a great
power. Morg asks how Terrax could surprise him, but Terrax says
that it wasn’t him. Morg and Terrax look up to see three
troops with blasters. Morg says his power is spent. The troops
say they are there to capture them, and with another blast they
are all gone except Morg’s axe.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #81- Morg is seen shackled with the Silver Surfer, Beta Ray Bill, Gladiator, Terrax, and Ganymede. They are all acting as living batteries to power Tyrant’s home Fortress. Tyrant comes out and tells them that he has finally resurfaced to reclaim his empire.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #82- Tyrant tells Morg and the others that escape is impossible, and that they now exist only to serve him. Later after Jack of Hearts sacrifices himself to remain free of Tyrant’s controls Morg and all the other prisoners are freed in the explosion. Morg and the others fight against Tyrant’s troops. Terrax starts to say that these troops are nothing. He asks if there is no challenge for him. Morg tackles Terrax from behind. He says that their battle, or at least Terrax’s execution, was delayed. Terrax strikes back and says that Morg must be a madman for surely circumstances dictate that they team up. Terrax says that he will gladly kill Morg later. Morg says that he will gladly kill Terrax now. Morg hits Terrax. Tyrant’s troops are upon them. Morg says that Terrax stole from him and tried to kill him. Morg says that the only thing that matters to him is Terrax’s death. Terrax says that the only thing that matters to him is living. He hits Morg with one of Tyrant’s troops. After a little while Morg levels Terrax. Morg prepares to kill Terrax, but turns to find dozens of Tyrant’s troops on him. Tyrant stands triumphant over all when suddenly Galactus arrives. Tyrant says that Galactus risks much seeking him out. Galactus says he doesn’t wish to dwell on the past. Tyrant says he has done nothing but dwell on it for eons. Tyrant says that Galactus’ interference lead to him being defeated by peasants. Galactus says that Tyrant threatened the universal stability he desired. Tyrant says that he has been gaining power for eons, and means to get his empire back. Galactus says that he will fight, but right now only seeks to retrieve his herald. Tyrant asks which one is his herald. Galactus points to Morg. Tyrant says that he is here as a conqueror, and doesn’t intend to leave empty handed. Galactus says that war between them would destroy everything, and that Tyrant even if he wins would rule over only rubble. Tyrant agrees and decides to leave until he is better suited to fight Galactus. Tyrant says that he will require keeping a prisoner as a source of power. Galactus says that he can have them all except Morg. Tyrant says that the only one he wants is Morg. Galactus’ eyes flare, but decides that it isn’t worth it, and lets Tyrant keep Morg. Tyrant tells Galactus that if he values his herald he will leave now with the rest of the rabble. Tyrant departs.
Cosmic Powers #2- Morg is seen still as Tyrant's prisoner. Terrax reveals that Tyrant uses his prisoners as living batteries. He then stores the power in a containment device until Tyrant needs it.
Cosmic Powers #4- Morg's face seen (most likely still imprisoned).
Cosmic Powers #5- Morg shouts for Tyrant to release him
so that he can destroy him. Tyrant says he doesn't think so.
Tyrant asks why Morg will not yield to him. Morg says he will
always be loyal to Galactus. Tyrant says Galactus is a pauper
compared to him. Morg says nothing will ever break his loyalty.
Tyrant says he can abuse Morg's mind as well as body. After
Tyrant gets inside Morg's mind and sees that Morg has a history
of throwing over one leader for another because they are more
powerful than the last he asks why Morg won't join him. Morg says
Galactus is the greater power. Tyrant's anger flares. While
Tyrant is torturing Morg Thanos, Terrax, and Ganymede breach
Tyrant's security. Tyrant gives Morg his power cosmic back, but
also attaches to his head something that will control his body.
The controlled Morg attacks. Morg smacks Ganymede. Thanos blasts
him, but Morg tackles him. Thanos uses Terrax's axe to ward off
Morg's strike. Ganymede distracts Morg, and Thanos blasts him.
Thanos allows Terrax to battle Morg one on one. Terrax destroys
the device on Morg's head controlling him. Morg stops the fight
because though he says he will kill Terrax right now he must
return to his master.
Warlock and the Infinity Watch #19- Morg asks Galactus why he pauses right as he is about to devour a planet. Galactus senses "peril unimaginable" and that the source is carefully hiding.
Silver Surfer annual #7-
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #102- Silver Surfer flies to Galactus’ ship, but as he enters Morg grabs Surfer’s neck and throws him against a wall. Surfer says that Morg is unfit to weild the Power Cosmic, but that he has no quarrel with him today. Morg says that he lives only to battle and serve Galactus. Surfer says he has defeated Morg in the past and will do so again. Morg says that Surfer was lucky to survive their last encounter. Suddenly Galactus arrives. Morg says Surfer had better not have disturbed him. Galactus tells Surfer to speak. Morg tells Galactus that Surfer is unworthy of him. Galactus says he will determine that, and that weve though he has praised Morg above all other heralds that Morg should not assume to know Galactus’ whims. Galactus dismisses Morg, but Morg tells Surfer that this isn’t over yet.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #104- Toady arrives nears Galactus’ ship and he senses that Morg is closing in on him. Morg smashes into Toady. He stands over Toady and says to prepare himself for the scrap heap. Toady says that he has a message for Galactus. Morg says that nobody sees Galactus without an appointment. Toady says that he has a message from Tyrant. Morg says that that was the absolute wrong thing to say. Toady says he comes in peace. Morg says that he will be going in pieces. Toady shoots Morg. Morg cuts off Toady’s arm. Toady says that Tyrant will be mad and Morg won’t have a leg to stand on. Morg says Toady won’t either, and chops off Toady’s legs. Morg says he hates Tyrant more than he hates Surfer. Toady asks if it is because Tyrant kidnapped him. Morg says it was because Tyrant forced him to team up with Surfer against him.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #105- Morg takes Toady before Galactus. He tells Galactus that Tyrant is coming to work out the differences between them. Toady asks for an answer. Morg tells Galactus to let him cut Toady’s head off. Toady tells on Morg about his arm and legs. Morg gets ready to kill it, but Galactus tells him to stop. Galactus says that he figured this was coming. Galactus says that he and Tyrant feed off the same source of power. Morg guesses that everytime Galactus eats Tyrant grows weaker correctly. Galactus sends Toady back to Tyrant saying that he will meet him. After Toady is gone Galactus says that Tyrants always has bad intentions. He says he will need to be at full strength and tells Morg to find him a world to feed on. Later Morg sits about. He says he knows Galactus can defeat Tyrant, but worries that Tyrant might have a trick up his sleeve. An idea occurs to Morg, and he goes off in search of Air-Walker.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #106- Morg watches Galactus feed on the world he found for him. Galactus says the world was an excellent choice, and that he feels stronger than he has in years. Morg says he thought that he would get one with lots of people on it to get Galactus some protein for his fight with Tyrant. Galactus says that Morg knows he doesn’t gain any benefits from the people, only the planets. Morg says he knows, but he likes to note the looks on their faces. Morg asks Galactus why he is allowing Tyrant into his home. Galactus says that both Morg and Tyrant are in a sense his children, and that if he is going to play the father figure he will need to do so on his turf. Later back on worldship, Galactus tells Morg to leave him as he would be alone. Morg kicks back in his quarters. Air-Walker’s face pops up on the screen. Air-Walker says that a ship that could be Tyrant’s is approaching. Morg says that Air-Walker seems afraid of Tyrant. Air-Walker says Tyrant might be the most vicious being in the universe. Morg says he views that as an insult and smashes the screen Air-Walker is on. Morg says that ever since he came up with his plan Air-Walker hasn’t helped at all. Air-Walker says that he has been re-evaluating his programming, and that he has dcided he is forced to help Morg defend Galactus against Tyrant.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #107- Air-Walker says that he won’t tell Morg where the object he seeks is. Morg holds the cord that links Air-Walker to Worldship. Morg says he is going to cut the cord unless Air-Walker tells him. Morg pulls his aqxe back, but then Air-Walker comes across with the information. Air-Walker asks Morg to fix him. Morg tells Air-Walker to transfer itself into his little pot, and whe he has what he wants then he will let him out.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #108- Morg finds what he is looking for. Air-Walker says that it is nothing to be trifled with. Morg says that they are supposed to obey every whim of Galactus, even if he doesn’t know that he is whimming. Morg shatters the pot and lets Air-Walker out. Morg says that Tyrant is there to kill them, and Morg says he knows that Galactus would want him to pull out all the stops. Air-Walker cautions Morg again that they may destroy that which they wish to protect. Later Tyrant has re-routed Galactus’ energy converter so that its power flows into him. Tyrant is about to kill Galactus, but Morg interrupts. He points the Ultimate Nullifier at Tyrant.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #109-Morg says that he didn’t dig up the Nullifier without the intention of using it. Tyrant says that if he uses it he will destroy them all including his precious master. Galactus tells Morg to be careful with that thing. Morg says he would rather be nullified than work for Tyrant. Tyrant says that the second he puts down the Nullifier that he will cleave Morg in two. Galactus says that is unlikely, and tells Morg to kill Tyrant and quickly. Toady is trying to figure a way to harness the power so that his master would not be hurt. Tyrant repeats that they will all die if Morg uses it. Surfer can sense Galactus’ fear and rushes to Worldship. Toady leaps onto Morg and starts to bond himself onto his body. Toady morphs over Morg’s hand with the Nullifier. Tyrant yells at Toady again. Galactus tells Morg to give him the Nullifier. Morg says that he can’t because Toady has morphed over it. Toady starts to take over Morg’s body. Tyrant tells Toady to kill the both. Morg says that he is the landlord of his body, and Toady is evicted. Morg says that he will now use Toady’s body to kill Tyrant. Tyrant shouts not to point that at him. Morg laughs that Tyrant is afraid for the first time in his life. Tyrant says he is never afraid. Morg says he should be and blows away Tyrant’s lower half. Tyrant says this is going to cost Toady. Toady says it isn’t his fault, and that the Nullifier is also dissolving him. Surfer arrives and asks what is happening. Galactus says that Morg, Toady, and the Ultimate Nullifier have all morphed into an annoying all-powerful weapon of destruction. Morg blasts Tyrant again, and says that the Surfer is late. Tyrant begs for his life, and offers Morg a position with him that will make him even more powerful. Surfer blasts Morg before he can kill Tyrant. Surfer says he needs Galactus’ help to take Morg down. Galactus tells Surfer to watch out for Morg. Morg starts shouting that only he has any loyalty. Morg says he wasn’t pretty or smart, but he was loyal. Galactus says that Toady won’t be able to contain the power much longer. He tells Surfer to escape and seals the Worldship hoping to contain the power. Morg says if Galactus wants to die that is fine, but he chops off his own arm, and then cuts a hole through Worldship. He isn’t fast enough however, and all within Worldship are killed.
