Nebula
Nebula claims to
be the granddaughter of Thanos, and although there is no genetic
evidence to support her claim she is certainly a worthy heir to
his ideals. Nebula has nearly conquered the Skrull Empire, has
caused the existence of the universe to zap in and out, has
gained immense power, and also followed Thanos as the bearer of
the Infinity Gauntlet.
Silver Surfer annual #5- Nebula watches as her father beats up her mother. Nebula is a little girl as her father enters her room with his belt off. Years later her father is still sexually assaulting her when he finds her in her bed. Finally one time when he enters her room with his belt off Nebula takes a long knife and kills him. Nebula lays in the fetal position with a knife in her hand next to the dead body of her father.
Avengers #259- flashback- After victories upon victories Nebula is defeated by a particular Skrull planetoid. She vows revenge and sends her flunkies out to get the Sanctuary II.
Avengers #255- behind the scenes- Captain Marvel (Photon) had been sent to Sanctuary II by Vision on a wild goose chase. While inside the ship a vessel docks on the believed to be abandoned ship. Skunge attacks her, but when he sees how tough she is he sicks Kehl on her. Kehl is a large tough monster. Captain Marvel blasts him as lightning. Kehl gets up mad, but is restrained by the mind thrust of Gunthar, a Rigellian. Levan than has them apologize to her, but explains they thought the ship was abandoned and thought she might be associated with Thanos. They explained that their ship was ruined and they came on board to try to use the ship's equipment. Captain Marvel sees Skunge doing something. She turns to energy form, and Gunthar activates the ship's hyper jump, which forces her to revert to human form. They all pull guns on her.
Avengers #256- behind the scenes- Levan delivers breakfast to Captain Marvel (Photon), and offers her a place within the organization again…even if she doesn’t regain her powers. Marvel declines but what Levan doesn’t realize is that Photon’s powers have returned and he is talking to a holographic image of her.
Avengers #257- Skunge and Kehl bring Captain Marvel to Levan. Levan receives a message that Nebula has just docked and will be joining them forthwith. Levan tries to convince Captain Marvel to join them again, and this time she plays along. When Levan puts his hands on her Captain Marvel says to remove them if he wants to keep them. Levan says that he likes a woman with spirit. Nebula interrupts him, “Is that so Levan?” Levan apologizes. Gunthar introduces Nebula to Captain Marvel. Nebula says that she holds an impressive name, and it is a shame that she lost her powers when they jumped to hyperspace. Suddenly Nebula fires a beam at Captain Marvel, and Marvel turns into light to avoid it. Nebula says she was very clever to hide the return of her powers. Marvel asks if all recruits are treated this way. Nebula says that she tailors to the individual. She asks if Captain Marvel will be joining them. Captain Marvel says she might if she were interested enough. Nebula says that she is consolidating forces that will conquer what is left of the Skrull Empire.
Avengers #258- Nebula shows Captain Marvel holographic images of their ship Sanctuary II. Marvel asks why Nebula has brought them to this asteroid swarm. Nebula says she is giving Marvel a chance to prove her worth to her. Nebula says one of the planetoids is the intergalactic staging base for the Skrull Empire. Nebula says she wants Marvel to fly down there in energy form so that she might scout around and discover all the defenses to make an invasion easier. Nebula gives Marvel exact coordinates and sends her on her way. Levan says that they have plenty of information on the planetoid, and asks why Nebula sent her. Nebula says that she doesn’t trust Captain Marvel, and wants to see if the skrulls can destroy her before they destroy the skrulls. Nebula watches as Captain Marvel manages to break a huge hole in the defensive web of the planetoid. Nebula says that they must take advantage of the situation. She orders an anti-matter torpedo. Levan and Gunthar both express reluctance, as the base could be very useful to them. Nebula shouts to fire the torpedo. Before the torpedo reaches its destination Captain Marvel manages to board a Skrull ship, and send a message to the Avengers. Levan says he can slow the message, but that it is too powerful to stop. Nebula says that the message is about to be cut off at the source. The torpedo hits and destroys everything.
Avengers #259- Nebula surveys the destruction from the anti-matter torpedo. Levan and Gunthar say that every Skrull has been killed, as has Captain Marvel. Nebula says to check again and that they must be sure. Levan says that the second scan is the same as the first. Nebula asks where all the evidence of casualties is. She says that an entire armada was based down there and all of them couldn’t have been obliterated. Nebula says that some of them must have gotten away. Levan includes that Captain Marvel may have survived as well. Nebula says that Levan would like that. Levan asks what she means. Nebula says that Levan’s one-sided romantic involvements are known to her. She says that he had better knock it off if he wants to remain in her army, or alive for that matter. Nebula says that Levan was useful as a former member of Thanos’ forces in getting the Sanctuary II, but questions if he has any further use to her. Levan and Gunthar both swear loyalty to her. Nebula says that they should make sure that if anyone did get away they should make sure there is nothing for them to return to. Sanctuary II shoots a laser that opens the planetoid up. Nebula then has another anti-matter torpedo into the middle of the planetoid. The whole thing blows to pieces.
Avengers #260- behind the scenes- On her way to her employer’s planet Nebula destroys the entire planet of Xander, the homeworld of Firelord, because they were in her way.
Nova vol. 3 #1- flashback- Nebula destroys the remnants of Xandar thus forever destroying the Nova Corps. She shouts out that it is vengeance for her father. The dying queen sends out the Nova Prime power back to Richard Rider.
Avengers #259- Nebula returns to a Skrull colony world to report to Governor Gorth of her successes. Gorth yells at Nebula to call him Emperor Gorth. He says to remember who pays her. Nebula tells Gorth to remember what he pays her for. Nebula orders Levan to blast Gorth. Gorth’s shapeshifting reverts to his scrawnier true form. Nebula says to save his false images for someone who will be impressed. She says that Gorth is nothing without her backing. Gorth admits it. Nebula says that as long as Gorth knows his place she will show him what will turn the colony planet into the next Skrull throneworld- the Sanctuary II. Elsewhere the Avengers, with Firelord, finally arrive in space to meet Captain Marvel and her Skrull hosts. The Skrull ruler informs the Avengers that Galactus ate their throneworld, and since then there has been a civil war among the skrulls to determine which colony planet will become the new throneworld. Nebula has led her army to aid Gorth. Later Nebula takes Gorth aboard the Sanctuary II. Levan contacts Nebula and tells her that the Imperial Armada is headed towards them. Gorth says that Nebula has to use the ship to lure them away from his planet. Nebula says that she will decide how to best to fight. Gorth grabs Nebula’s arm. Nebula strikes down Gorth. Nebula tells Levan to prepare a propaganda statement that Gorth was killed fighting the enemy, and that they will be taking no prisoners in the upcoming battle.
Avengers #260-
Firelord leaves, not wanting to ally himself with
Skrulls against Nebula, and returns to his homeworld of Xander.
Firelord finds the entire world destroyed. He finds the queen and
asks who did this. The Queen tells Firelord that two days ago
Nebula came by and destroyed them because she said they were in
her way. Nebula sits in the innermost chambers of Sanctuary II
admiring the evil genius of Thanos. Nebula thinks to herself that
the ship might help her get to know Thanos better. Suddenly Levan
interrupts with news that Skunge has found a message from the
Skrull armada. The com-unit opens and the message shows Captain
Marvel and the Skrull commander calling for surrender. Nebula
blasts the thing into oblivion. She tells Levan that he is to see
to it personally that Captain Marvel really die this time. She
orders all hands prepare for immediate battle. The Skrull Armada
arrives as Nebula’s troops take off. Captain Marvel attempts
to board the Sanctuary II by transforming herself into the same
type of energy that shields the ship. Nebula realizes that she
cannot drop her shields to deploy their heavy artillery because
Captain Marvel would be on them instantly. Nebula orders Kehl and
Gunthar to follow her for important work. Firelord arrives on the
scene looking for revenge. Nebula’s ship blasts him
backwards. There Firelord meets the Beyonder. Captain Marvel
disables the Sanctuary II’s shields and the Avengers and
Skrulls attack. Firelord tells Beyonder that the Avengers are
busy trying to stop Nebula. Beyonder asks if that is important,
and Firelord says stopping her is. Nebula is having Kehl load
important canisters onto their getaway ship. Starfox comes along
and grabs Nebula. He puts her down, but keeps her wrist blasters.
Starfox says he claims the Sanctuary II for himself since it was
his brother that built it. Nebula says she has as much right to
it as he does since Thanos is her grandfather. Gunthar mind
blasts Starfox. Suddenly the Beyonder appears. Gunthar tells
Nebula to beware of the being with immense power. With Nebula
identified Beyonder banishes her and her lackeys from the galaxy.
Avengers #317- flashback- Nebula manages to find Stranger’s stronghold though Stranger had thought the location known only to him. Nebula also manages to pierce the defenses. Nebula’s instruments tell her that Stranger is on the other side of the galaxy. Nebula finds the object she came to steal. Gunthar warns her the prize is heavily guarded. Nebula uses her wrist blasters to cut a hole in the wall allowing her access. Nebula and Guthar fly two hours to the heart of Stranger’s ship to find the Infinity Union. The union is three devices of enormous power that when combined allows its user to gain the power of all ambient energy.
Avengers #318- flashback- After stealing the Infinity Union Gunthar and Nebula study it. They discover the frequency that the Union transmits power on. Nebula has a bio-receiver surgically installed in her head to receive the Union’s frequency.
Avengers West Coast #48- Following a tip from a merchant Eros spots Nebula on the abandoned planet of Omicron. Nebula praises Gunthar for serving her well. She stands before a stone construct. Nebula says that the ancient legends were true- the formula is here. Nebula tells Gunthar to but the stone into tablets, and have them brought aboard the ship. Nebula says that with a source of sufficient power she will become even more powerful than Thanos ever was.
Avengers #311- Starfox sneaks aboard Nebula’s ship, and takes out one of the guards. He dons the guard’s armor so he can move more freely around the ship. Starfox spots Guthar telling Nebula that tablets do contain the secret she desires. Nebula marvels that something that was carved by such an ancient race will have such an impact on the future of the universe. Nebula looks up at a view screen, and also notes the irony of her gaining mastery over all living things will come from an old earthling that doesn’t even suspect his place in the scheme of things.
Avengers #314- Everyone is rocked by the feeling that the universe has turned itself inside out. Nebula, posing as a blond woman asks Harker what happened. Harker says that he doesn’t know. Nebula yells at Harker that his compressor holds the key to vast power, but that there are things that he cannot predict. Nebula contacts Gunthar. Gunthar says that his instruments register a field effect equal to at least the span of an entire galaxy. Nebula says that this is better than she hoped. She tells Gunthar to get an exact reading. Gunthar says that when the compressor reached 0.000000000000000000001% of its maximum efficiency the entire universe blinked out of existence. Nebula says that she has stumbled onto something great, and that all her dreams are close to realization. Gunthar tells her to remember their dire situation. Gunthar says that he may be unaffected by this, and if he should come upon them while they are recovering…he trails off. Starfox who has been watching it all wonders who “he” is. Elsewhere the Avengers are talking about the universe blipping out of existence. Dr. Pym says that the only thing that could knock their universe out of existence is if another universe where encroaching on their plane of existence. Nebula yells at everyone to get back to work, but they are all afraid of that side effect. Harker tells Nebula that they must proceed with caution. Nebula grabs Harker. She says that she has crossed this universe back and forth looking to become as powerful as Thanos once was, and she will not be frustrated now. Starfox eases Gunthar to sleep and tries to alert the Avengers, but as Jarvis starts to get Starfox’s message Starfox is knocked out from behind. The Avengers manage to get a general location from the brief signal. The universe blips out again three more times. Sersi concentrates and manages to control every atom within the room they are in. Another blast hits. Spider-Man asks, after looking at the blank monitors, where the rest of the universe went.
Avengers #315- Spider-Man uses the long range cameras to find the only other thing not knocked out of existence- PolyDyne Industries, where Nebula had Harker working on his compressor. Cap has Sersi reach out telepathically to try and contact any living people within the building. Sersi falls to the ground. She starts muttering in her Eternal language that at the center of the emptiness is evil, but nobody can understand her. Over at PolyDyne Nebula gazes at the power. Everyone else is knocked out. Nebula tries to contact Gunthar for the readings, but only then notices that the entire universe is gone. Nebula reverts to her true blue-skinned form. Nebula goes over and grabs Harker. Harker says that it must be a Genesis Pulse. He says there was always the most remote chance of it happening. Harker says that his machine concentrates the force of one-megaton nuclear explosion into an area smaller than the nucleus of an atom. Harker says that the result is the recreation of the Big Bang. Nebula tells Harker he is an idiot. She says she wanted his machine to make her the ruler of the universe…now she has no universe to rule. Nebula hears something and turns to see the Avengers. Thor created a magnetic field that pulled them to PolyDyne. Nebula can’t believe her luck that the only thing left alive is the Avengers to annoy her. She blasts at them. Thor asks Nebula how she managed to get herself out of the time vortex that she fell into with Dr. Druid. Nebula says that whatever nonsense Thor is talking about won’t give them the time to defeat her. As they all battle Thor remarks to Captain America that Nebula seems to have no recollection of their last encounter. Cap hurls his shield at Nebula. Nebula deflects it, but leaves herself open to Thor’s attack. Thor’s wind pins her against the wall. Nebula flips and blasts Thor. Spidey webs Nebula’s blasters, and leaps at her. Nebula flips Spider-Man away and then blasts her blasters free. Harker tries to tell the Avengers how to deactivate the machine before the new Big Bang, but Nebula fries Harker. As Thor fights Nebula, Cap tries one of Harker’s assistants. Cap gets Spider-Man to use his webs to pull the power supply out stopping the machine. The universe zaps back into place. Nebula escapes as everyone is adjusting to there being a universe. Cap notes that Iron Man and Vision were on there way to Nebula’s ship.
Avengers #316- Nebula contacts Gunthar to teleport back to the ship as the heroes congratulate themselves. Nebula walks with Guthar cursing the Avengers, but admits that destroying the universe to gain control of it wasn’t a great deal anyway. Nebula says that all is not lost though. Gunthar cautions Nebula. He says it was luck that they managed to steal it from “him”, but to activate it would surely draw “him” to them. Nebula says she stole them because she is the best, and tells Gunthar to get ready to activate. Starfox says she speaks in riddles as did Thanos. Nebula takes it as a compliment. Nebula says she has found the Stones of Halkor. Starfox says he was there when she did, but he thought her smarter than to believe in the myth. Nebula smacks Starfox, and prepares to kill him. Starfox uses his power enough to get her to not kill him. The Avengers fight through Nebula’s ship of goons, but when they reach the control center they find Starfox has things well in hand as Nebula, Gunthar, and the guards are sleeping and dreaming pleasant dreams. Suddenly the Stranger, the “him” or “he” Nebula referred to, crashes through the wall of the ship.
Avengers #317- Stranger wants Nebula. He tears through the unbreakable bonds that held her. Stranger says that she has violated the sanctity of his privacy. Nebula asks if it was good for him. Stranger wants to know where it is. Nebula asks if he wouldn’t want to share in the glory of death. Spider-Man tries to tell Stranger that Nebula is goofed up on Starfox’s pleasure power. Stranger walks off with Nebula in his hand back to his ship. The Avengers get ready to follow, but Stranger sends Blockade to stop them. Stranger tells them the story of what Nebula stole from him. Stranger says that in Nebula’s hands the Infinity Union would spell the end of the universe. Elsewhere Gunthar tells Iron Man that if any, except Nebula, touch the Infinity Union it will annihilate this entire sector of space. On Stranger’s ship he is annoyed that Starfox’s power has still not worn off Nebula. Stranger realizes that the power from the universe zapping out would be enough to charge the Infinity Union up. The Avengers spread out to find the Infinity Union to stop anyone from setting off the booby trap. Spider-Man finds it, and tries to pull it with his webbing. An explosion of power erupts.
Avengers #318- Nebula laughs as a face on the monitor.
All the spread out Avengers and the Stranger are collected in the
Stranger’s monitor room. Nebula says the booby trap was
really to channel all the energy into her instead of the person
who touches it. Stranger demands to know how, but Nebula
dissolves him and then recreates him, and then destroys him, and
then recreates him again. Captain America says she doesn’t
need to torture a sentient life this way. Nebula asks which way
he would prefer. Nebula transforms herself into a gigantic
physical form. The Avengers all attack. Nebula stops Vision from
phasing, and throws him into Iron Man. Nebula swats down Eros.
Sersi and Thor try to blast her to no affect. Spider-Man webs her
eyes, but she immediately dissolves it. Iron Man and Thor try to
hit her, but Nebula disappears and reforms behind them. Nebula
blasts them. Gunthar sees that she is mad with power, and wonders
if she will have any use for him now. The Avengers run, but the
room they stop in has a view screen. Nebula asks what the point
in running is when she plans to destroy the universe. Captain
America says he doesn’t think she has the power to do it.
Nebula says, “Oh really now?” The Avengers run, but the
universe keeps zapping in and out of existence. Nebula re-merges
with Stranger’s ship. Gunthar tells Stranger about the
implant in Nebula that is tuned to the frequency that the Union
transmits on. Nebula uses the ship to trap Spider-Man, Iron Man,
and Eros. Nebula reforms and says se will kill Cap, Thor, and
Sersi with her bare hands. Gunthar shows Stranger the Union.
Stranger says he can alter the frequency if Nebula’s
attention can be diverted. Stranger tells the Avengers to get the
implant out of her head when he diverts the power. Stranger
diverts the power to himself, and Nebula buckles in pain. Sersi
manipulates the atoms to take the device out and heals Nebula.
Nebula crawls trying to escape. Spider-Man picks her up to punch,
but Thor says the battle is over. While the Avengers tend to the
injured Guthar teleports with Nebula back to her ship, and the
warp away.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #38- Nebula’s crew tells her that they are picking up strange microwave activity. Nebula asks if he can tell the nature of the probe. He says that at first it was a probe, but now it seems to be focusing on the bridge. Suddenly Thanos appears on the bridge of Sanctuary II. The crew freaks but Nebula asks if they have all taken leave of their senses. She says that her grandfather is long dead, and that this is an imposter. Thanos asks if this is the one who claims to have his dark blood in her veins. Nebula tells Geatar to deal with this. Thanos eye blasts Geatar down, and the rest of the crew falls on their knees before Thanos. Nebula calls security to her side, but nobody comes. Thanos tells Nebula not to waste her final words on futile pleas. Thanos tells Nebula that her sins and plentiful and numerous, but that to claim that Thanos, lover of death, would create life is unforgivable. Thanos eye blasts Nebula. Nebula runs off on fire. Thanos sends a crewmember after her to make sure her body is disposed of. The ship’s on board fire extinguishers put Nebula out leaving her barely alive. The crewmember still holds loyalty for Nebula and he carries her off to keep her safe.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #45- Thanos returns to the Sanctuary II after he has assembled the six Infinity gems. While there he senses a stowaway on his ship. Thanos teleports with his first mate to Nebula’s location. Thanos asks how she survived. The crewman he sent to dispose of her body explains that the ship put her out, and that she was his captain and he felt loyal to her. Thanos senses that Nebula is about to die. He blasts her with his power in order to preserve her right between life and death. He says he has immortalized her for posterity. Thanos then tells the crewman that he admires such loyalty, but only to him. Thanos kills Nebula’s crewmate. Thanos then tells his first mate to find suitable quarters for Nebula while he deals with his unwelcome guest Mephisto.
Infinity Gauntlet #1- Thanos is trying to win Death’s favor. He erected a shrine to her, but she wouldn’t sit on her throne next to Thanos. Thanos brings forth Nebula, his greatest creation, stuck between life and death. He has made her walking death. She now symbolizes the promise of Death’s release. Death turns her back on Thanos. Her mouthpiece says that she finds Thanos’ boasts empty and his bravado distasteful.
Infinity Gauntlet #2- Nebula stands by as Thanos traps Starfox and removes his mouth so that Starfox cannot use his pleasure power. Later Thanos says he is enjoying this family reunion as he tortures Nebula and Starfox with giant living vines. Mephisto notes Death’s displeasure. Thanos drops Eros and Nebula to the ground saying he will change entertainment then. Thanos turns Nebula into a spiraling ribbon while Starfox has become a series of cubes. Nebula lies helpless on the ground as Thanos shouts at Death asking what it takes to please her.
Infinity Gauntlet #3- Nebula maintains her near vegetative state on Death’s monument as Thanos spells his name with planets. Later Nebula is blown backwards as Thanos creates Terraxia, a female styled after himself, because he is sick of being rebuffed by Death.
Infinity Gauntlet #4- Starfox is startled by Nebula standing above him as Thanos prepares to fight earth’s heroes in an attempt to win Death’s favor. As the fight progresses Starfox notices that the only person not fascinated by the battle is Nebula who would be better off dead than she is now. Even Nebula seems to take notice when Galactus, Stranger, the Celestials, and a bunch of other cosmic deities arrive to battle Thanos.
Infinity Gauntlet #5- Nebula kneels on the steps of Death’s shrine as she cowers from the power of the cosmic deities. Nebula looks at Mephisto taunting Starfox who is still prisoner without a mouth on Thanos’ chair. Starfox and Nebula are kept safe during the battle by the power of Death. Nebula stands next to the empty body of Thanos as he has left it after defeating Eternity. Thanos grabs the Infinity Gauntlet off Thanos’ hand and places it on her own. Nebula stands restored and all-powerful. Nebula says that her every desire is just a urge away. Nebula turns to Thanos, now back in his body, and says that want she wants now is revenge. Thanos and Terraxia disappear. Thanos is later rescued to stand against Nebula. Warlock figures that with Nebula’s fragile mental state that suddenly becoming aware of every living thing might be too much for her splintered mind. Warlock says that they had all better hope Nebula doesn’t simply destroy the universe during a moment of confusion. Nebula glares in a daze at her new gauntlet.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #59- Nebula reaches out her new gauntlet towards a shivering Starfox.
Infinity Gauntlet #5- Nebula stands on Death’s shrine with all the cosmic deities still frozen in place from their battle with Thanos. She says that already the mist begins to lift from her mind. Nebula grabs Starfox and says that she now understands Thanos’ quest for infinite power. She says that she can now see every moment of eternity. She says that in five seconds the remaining heroes will oppose her. Hulk and Drax hit Nebula together as Thor throws his hammer into Nebula’s chest. Nebula glares at them. She encases them all inside some kind of concrete sculpture that emerges from the floor. Nebula now senses three more coming to oppose her, one of which is Thanos. Starfox looks and sees four opposing her. Nebula tells Thanos that she is disappointed in he and his two little friends to face her with nothing but bravado.
Infinity Gauntlet #6-
Thanos tells Nebula that she has usurped what is
rightfully his, but if she returns it immediately he will forgive
her, and perhaps make her his chief consort. Nebula encases
Thanos in the sculpture coming out of the ground the way that she
did to the Hulk and Thor. Thanos smiles as he realizes that
Nebula cannot see Warlock. He says that she does not have the
vision to properly exploit the gems. She guesses that Thanos
supposedly does. Thanos says to look at all he accomplished while
he wore the gauntlet. Nebula says that killing half the universe
is not an accomplishment. Nebula says that with the exception of
her continuing to retain the gauntlet she is going to change
everything back to the way it was twenty-four hours ago. Nebula
lay as the charred near corpse that she was, but is still wearing
the Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos goes to grab the gauntlet, but
Nebula wills herself back to her restored state before he can.
Nebula says that Thanos should have grabbed the gauntlet instead
of gloating. Adam Warlock touches the gauntlet and shoots Surfer
with it. Nebula looks over her shoulder and realizes another
mistake from her twenty-four hours ago wish- all the cosmic
deities stand ready to battle Nebula. They give Nebula much more
of a fight than they gave Thanos because of her inexperience, but
since she does possess power infinite she does prove victorious.
Nebula remodels Death’s shrine into a conglomeration of all
the defeated cosmic deities. Nebula is celebrating her win when
Warlock causes disharmony in the gauntlet from within the Soul
Gem. The gauntlet drops from Nebula’s hand to the ground.
Everyone dives for the glove, but it is Adam Warlock that stands
wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. Nebula asks what right Warlock has
to the power. He replies right of possession. Nebula watches as
Thanos fakes his own death. Warlock decides to let Starfox take
Nebula to Titan to stand trial.
Silver Surfer annual #5- Firelord gets Eros to let him into Nebula’s cell. Nebula says she was beginning to think that Firelord was never coming. Nebula says she supposes that she has Firelord to thank for the accommodations. Firelord says he said to put her somewhere with the other of the universe’s butchers. Nebula asks if Firelord came to kill her. Firelord says he hasn’t decided. He wants to know why she destroyed the five billion people on Xandar. Nebula says she supposes it was for kicks. She says she doesn’t remember, but it must have seemed like a good idea at the time. Nebula asks if Firelord knew someone there. Firelord freaks saying it was his homeworld and that Nebula killed everyone he knew and loved. Firelord points at her and says that there is no reason for him not to kill her. Nebula says she has always been a naughty girl and then she licks his finger. Firelord yells. Nebula says to hit her if it makes him feel like a man. Suddenly Firelord is awash in Nebula’s memories of the years of her father’s sexual abuse. When Firelord comes out of it he realizes that Eros caused him to feel Nebula’s pain. Nebula lays catatonic on the floor. Before the guards take her away Eros removes the pain from the abuse Nebula suffered.(some alien’s green hand reaches out and falls as Eros and Firelord leave.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #67- Nebula sits comatose in her energy barred cell. Starfox tells Surfer and Firelord that none of the telepaths can reach Nebula’s mind. He says they also tested her genetically and there is no support towards her being related to Thanos. Geatar brings Nebula’s dinner. Geatar was Nebula’s second in command and the being that Thanos used to decoy his own death pre Infinity Gauntlet. Mentor restored Geatar to life, and he has vowed to continue serving her. Geatar tries to feed Nebula, but she just drools the food all over herself.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #69- Geatar brings Nebula her breakfast. He says that it is something special and he hopes that she likes it. Geatar reveals a giant knife. He tells her that they don’t watch him in the kitchen anymore, and that they don’t even post a guard outside her door anymore. Geatar says that it is time for them to leave. He says that these people don’t want her to get better. They want her to remain a vegetable. Geatar throws her over his shoulder and puts the knife behind his back. As he walks towards the ship he sees a guard. Geatar says that Nebula stopped breathing. When the guard comes to help Geatar slashes him with the knife. They fly off and Geatar tells her that he is going to take her to someone that will help her.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #70- Geatar and Nebula land on a dead moon in the Siminian Galaxy. Geatar walks with Nebula to a door. He explains that this is a doctor that treats people like them that don’t want to answer a lot of questions. He pounds on the door. The door opens and Dr. Mandibus says that he will see them now.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #71- Nebula lies on a table with a shaved head. Geatar asks Dr. Mandibus if Nebula will be all right. Mandibus says that it will be difficult and that her higher functions will need to be rebuilt or restructured. Mandibus says that since he will be working from scratch he can give her any personality Geatar wants. Geatar says that he wants her back just the way that she was. Mandibus takes the sheet off Nebula. Machines remain over her bathing suit areas monitoring her vitals. Mandibus picks up a saw and advises Geatar to stand back as this can get messy.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #72- Dr. Mandibus emerges after twenty plus hours of surgery. He tells Geatar that she is going to be fine. Nebula walks out of the room. Her left arm, left side of her head, and her eye on that side have been replaced by mechanical parts.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #73- Geatar says that he is concerned about all of Nebula’s changes. Nebula gets dressed and says that she feels more dangerous than ever. She tells Geatar to get used to her new self. Nebula asks if Geatar has settled with Mandibus. He says he has. She asks if the ship has been checked and refueled. He says that it has. Nebula grabs Geatar by the shoulder. She says that she owes him a debt and won’t forget it. Geatar says that it was his duty. Nebula says that he could have left her to rot on Titan, and that she will repay him if she can. Geatar asks what their first mission is. Nebula says that they are going to go free their crew.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #74- Geatar asks why they are going to the prison planet. Nebula says that this is the Anvil where they bring all the worst scum- like her crew. Geatar asks if they are there to free them. Nebula says that it is no good being a captain without a crew, and that her crew is loyal to her so she will be loyal to them.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #76- Nebula and Geatar fly towards Penal colony Annoval 14: The Anvil. Later Chancellor Demetrius Stipe is called away from his discussion with the Silver Surfer and the Jack of Hearts by the arrival of a new prisoner. Chancellor is there to greet captor and captive. Geatar seems to be turning in Nebula.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #77- Geatar repeats himself that
Nebula is ready for processing and incarceration. Stipe says he
knows all about Nebula and Geatar. Nebula was confined on the
psychiatry ward of Titan until Geatar, thought to be
rehabilitated, helped her to escape. Stipe says it isn’t
coincidence that he “brought her in” where her crew is
incarcerated. Stipe says Nebula will be imprisoned, and he will
share the cell next to her. Geatar strikes Nebula. He says he did
help nebula escape, but he was forced. Geatar says he owes Nebula
nothing, and is out to take care of himself. Geatar hands his
weapon over. Stipe believes him, but says if he is lying he will
regret it. As Nebula is being led away she spits in Geatar’s
face, and tells him that he is dead. The guard throws Nebula to
the ground. He orders her to strip for a body search. Nebula
strips down. She asks if they are happy. The guard says that he
is. He says she wouldn’t be so bad without all the scrap
iron on her, and id she had some hair, but he adds that they
aren’t real fussy. The guard grabs her, and the other guard
says that he is going next. Elsewhere Geatar is asking Stipe for
a job. Stipe turns his back to think, and Geatar stabs him in the
back with his electronic cattle prod that was on his desk. Geatar
leads Stipe by the prod in his back to Nebula’s location.
Nebula is redressing with both guards dead, and holding one of
the guard’s blasters. Stipe says he will see them executed.
Geatar says he didn’t give him permission to talk. Nebula
asks Stipe where her crew is. She says if she likes his answer
she might not kill him. Stipe says he isn’t scared. Nebula
says she isn’t trying to scare him, she is just explaining
his options. Stipe tells her where and she has him lead them
there. As they walk they come face to face with the Silver
Surfer. Surfer tells her to release her hostage. Nebula tells
Surfer to surrender or he will be wearing the coward’s
brains.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #78- Surfer surrenders to Nebula because he won’t allow harm to come to anyone because of his actions. Surfer gives his word that as long as Stipe is alive he will not interfere. Nebula says that she wants her crew freed so that she can steal a ship and resume pirating. Nebula has Stipe order all the guards off the prison. Nebula then has Stipe place his hand on the scanner opening the giant detention center where her crew is being held. Nebula asks if her crew will still follow her. All shout their loyalty, and Nebula tells them to climb up the ladder she drops for them. Nebula tells Geatar to take crew to the armory to get her crew weapons. Geatar says that the doors will be locked. Nebula says that they have a universal key. Nebula hacks Stipe’s hand off and throws it to Geatar. Later they stand before the largest ship left on The Anvil. Nebula says that it will be crowded, but Stipe is coming with them. Surfer says she has done enough to him. Surfer offers to be Nebula’s prisoner. Nebula says that holding Surfer as a hostage will boost her reputation. Nebula tells Stipe to open a door, and then she will let him go. Suddenly the door opens, and Jack of Hearts, who had been getting a new armor to contain his power, stands before them. Jack blasts Nebula back, and then flies Stipe to safety. Apparently Surfer’s word isn’t worth much because he starts fighting Nebula’s men with Jack. Nebula emerges and says that there is little she holds dear, but her first mate is one of them. Nebula tells Geatar that they won’t be able to defeat Jack and Surfer. A stray bullet clips Geatar. Nebula wants to save him, but Geatar says he is useless to her now, and tells her to go help the crew. Nebula carries Geatar to the ship, and activates the engines. Geatar says that the crew will all be killed. Nebula says that she knows that. They take off. Surfer saves one crewmember, and Jack saves Stipe.

Secret Defenders #14- Geatar had been brought back to life by Thanos and sent on a mission. Thanos leaves Geatar for dead. Surfer rescues him and takes him to Titan where he is put back into jail with Nebula.
Silver Surfer vol. 3 #110- Genis takes Surfer to a planet that is a giant strip bar as a way for Surfer to make it up to him for ditching him in space. Nebula is one of the girls on the planet. She spots Surfer and wonders how he tracked her there. She takes off before he can notice her. Surfer isn’t very comfortable there. Surfer finally has had enough and goes to wait outside for Legacy when he sees a familiar blue skinned woman. Surfer asks Legacy if he saw her as well. Genis says that he did and that she was a real babe. Genis whistles foe her. Nebula thinks that they’ve spotted her and runs. Surfer thinks Genis’ catcall offended her. Genis flies after her to find out why she doesn’t want to party with them. Nebula tells Genis to get back for all their sakes. Genis asks her name. She says that she is Nebula, granddaughter of Thanos. Genis realizes that Surfer spotted the one wanted con in the place on their day off. Genis says that nobody wants to hurt her, but Nebula blasts Genis. She says to leave her alone, and that she only wants to live her life in peace. She says that she will kill him if he tries to follow. Nebula uses her image inducer to appear Caucasian and runs away. Surfer and Genis go after her. Nebula blasts at them with a kinetic psion power blaster. The gun funnels her rage into a weapon capable of hurting even the Surfer. Surfer wants to take the fight outside so the “innocents” there won’t be harmed. Nebula says that will make it easier for her to get away once she kills him. Once outside Nebula shoots down a ship. She asks Surfer if he will chase her or save the people in the ship. Surfer sees Genis in trouble. He lets him onto the board, and asks why he doesn’t fly. Nebula says that she isn’t his pimply pal. “Genis” stuffs a grenade into Surfer’s mouth. After the explosion Surfer says again that he didn’t come for the bounty on her head, but now that he sees that she is unrepentant she will suffer his wrath. Surfer uses the Power Cosmic to use Nebula’s body armor as restraints. Surfer has the police take Nebula back to the Anvil. Nebula says that she will get him for this.
Nova vol. 3 #1- Nebula, seemingly fully restored to her normal self, shouts that she can’t believe that he is alive as she watches “Nova Prime”. Nebula vows he won’t be alive for long. Nebula says that it was the Xandarians and their Nova Corps that was always hounding her father Zorr until Zorr finally killed them. Nova Prime’s power was then sent to an earthling. Nebula is also under the impression that the Nova Corps killed her father. Nova is lamenting having no real villains as he defeats the Grinder when Nebula’s ship pulls right up beside him. Nebula and a bunch of her men pull out of the ship on individual standing transports. Nebula says that Nova Prime will pay for the murder of her father. Nova leads them on a chase picking off one or two at a time. Nova grabs one of their blasters and absorbs the energy it shoots. As Nova faces one of the other men Nebula blasts him in the back. She says that her father will be avenged. Nova shouts that it was the old Nova Prime that killed her father. He unleashes great power. Nebula hides behind one of her men. The guy dies, but Nebula escapes on a transport.
