Scorpion

Long before Venom or Carnage. Long before that stupid Infinity War doppelganger came on the scene...there was the Scorpion. The Scorpion was the dark reflection of Spider-Man. Scorpion was created specifically to hunt the arachnid man. MacDonald Gargan was created more powerful by JJ Jameson to destroy his most hated enemy. While Scorpion was more than happy to hunt Spider-Man he was also unbalanced by the procedure, and took to a life of crime.

Amazing Spider-Man #19- Mac Gargan follows Peter Parker to his house. After the lights have been off for a while Max calls in to his employer. His employer says to keep watching him.

Amazing Spider-Man #20- Gargan is still following Peter the next day. Peter’s spider-sense causes him to notice Gargan following. At home Spidey wonders if someone figured out Spider-Man’s secret identity. Peter changes into Spider-Man and follows as he notices Gargan leaving. Gargan makes a phone call to his employer (Jameson). The next day Peter notices that the man is still following him. At the Daily Bugle Jameson reads a proof that tells of a scientist that has found a way to cause artificial mutations in animals. He gets an idea. Jameson finds the scientist’s name Dr. Farley Stillwell. When Peter goes in to see Betty Gargan takes a break. He checks in with Jameson, but JJ tells Gargan to forget about Peter Parker. He says that he has a much more important mission for him. JJ says that the work is dangerous, but Gargan says that he doesn’t care as long as the pay is good. Peter notices that the man with Jameson that he called Gargan has been the man following him. Jameson and Gargan meet with Stillwell. JJ offers Stillwell $10,000 to do a special job for him. Stillwell says that he has to accept because he needs the money for research. JJ says that he wants Stillwell to give a human powers that are greater than Spider-Man’s. Stillwell says that it’s very dangerous, but Gargan says that he is willing to risk it. Stillwell says that he will give Gargan the powers of a scorpion making him more powerful than Spider-Man, but he doesn’t know how it will affect his brain. Gargan says that he doesn’t care because he is getting $10,000 too for his part in this. Gargan drinks down the serum. Stillwell does a number of tests and watches as Gargan gains superhuman strength and coordination. JJ says as long as he can defeat Spider-Man. Stillwell also designs a tail for Gargan. Gargan thinks to himself that he could defeat anyone. After the experiment Scorpion puts on his new costume. Stillwell explains that he can mentally control the tail. Scorpion tests his strength by tearing apart a granite block, but forgets to control his tail and smashes something. Stillwell says that Scorpion needs practice before he is ready. Later as Spider-Man leaves Jameson’s office Scorpion leaps onto Spider-Man. He swats Spider-Man with his tail. Spider-Man hits Scorpion, but has no effect. Scorpion hits Spider-Man back and Spidey says that Scorpion is at least as strong as him. Scorpion hits Spider-Man with his tail, and when Spidey dodges the follow up Scorpion hits Spidey with a fist. Spider-Man webs Scorpion up. Scorpion uses his pinchers (fingers) and cuts through the webbing. Scorpion whips the webbing onto Spidey with his tail. He hits Spider-Man. Stillwell makes some findings that Scorpion’s evil nature will take over his mind the stronger he gets. He runs with an antidote to Scorpion. Scorpion knocks Spider-Man out, and throws him through an empty water tower. Scorpion shouts that he can beat anyone, and that the city is his for the taking. Scorpion starts to climb down the building. Jameson shouts to unmask Spider-Man. Scorpion tells him that nobody tells him what to do as he leaves. Jameson realizes what he has done. Scorpion leaps onto an armored truck. He rips the roof off, but there is nothing inside. The guards are bringing it out so Scorpion leaps down and grabs the money. As he leaves he tells the guards to be sure and tell the reporters that it was the Scorpion who robbed them. Stillwell finds Scorpion. He says that Scorpion has to drink the antidote or he’ll never be able to change back and he will lose all sense of right and wrong. Scorpion says that it is already too late. He says that he never wants to change back, and that whatever the Scorpion does IS right. Scorpion starts to climb a building. Stillwell tries to follow, but falls to his death. Spider-Man jumps onto Scorpion. Spider-Man says that one knockout isn’t enough to keep him down. Scorpion says that he didn’t think Spider-Man would be dumb enough to come back for more. Scorpion throws Spider-Man down, and uses his tail to smash a brick wall at him. Scorpion hits Spider-Man. He knocks him out again, but hurts his hand. He says that he will kill him when his hand stops hurting. Scorpion starts to climb the building. He says that Jameson is the only one who knows his secret, and so he decides to kill him. Spider-Man wakes up when he hears Betty scream. Spider-Man rushes up to find Scorpion and Jameson. Spider-Man jumps around causing Scorpion to miss him. Spider-Man webs Scorpion’s feet to the ground. While Scorpion is trying to get free Spidey rips off Scorpion’s tail. Spider-Man pounds Scorpion unconscious. The police arrest Scorpion.

Captain America #122- The Scorpion is contacted by a group of spies to kill Sharon Carter before she can shut them down for SHIELD. Scorpion stands on the street thinking that it has been a while with his parole, testing his powers, and regaining strength. He decides that effortlessly defeating a man will help him feel better about being ready to come back. Scorpion swings his tail into the stomach of the next guy walking down the sidewalk. Unfortunately for Scorpion that man was Steve Rogers. Steve swings the briefcase that he carries his costume in into Scorpion’s face. Steve takes a swing, but Scorpion leaps over it and Steve nearly breaks his hand hitting a wall. Scorpion decks Steve and knocks him to the ground. Scorpion is about to grab Steve’s case when he hears the police coming. Thinking it no more than a ham sandwich anyway Scorpion leaves the case and goes. Steve quickly takes his case and changes into Captain America. He spots Scorpion getting into a car and driving away. Cap hails a cab to follow Scorpion. Scorpion has a monitor in his car that constantly tracks Sharon Carter. He starts to go after her. Scorpion spots that he is being followed. He stops and sees that it is Captain America. Scorpion wraps his tail around a tree branch and when Cap leaps after him Scorpion punches him. Cap says that he is ready for him this time. Scorpion asks what he is talking about since they’ve never fought. Cap makes a lame excuse. Scorpion swings his tail at Cap, and when he misses he throws a tree at Cap. Scorpion gets hold of Cap’s face and starts to squeeze. Cap pulls back a tree limb and hits Scorpion in the face with it. Scorpion is knocked out…lemme write that again. Scorpion was knocked out by a tree branch. I’ve seen Moe Howard take this shot before. Later SHIELD arrives and arrests Scorpion.

Captain America #151- flashback- Scorpion shouts that he is going to get out of jail as he is shackled to the wall. Scorpion lags as they are keeping him drugged so he can’t use his tail. A glowing ball appears before Scorpion. Scorpion thinks it is a lame attempt to scare him, but when the heat from the ball started to hurt Scorpion tried to scream only to find that he couldn’t make any noise. Then Scorpion blacked out. He figures that it was months later when he woke up inside a glass cage. Scorpion breaks out and then looks around. He sees Mister Hyde in another cage. Scorpion frees him hoping that Hyde might have some answers as to where they are. Hyde yells at Scorpion asking what Scorpion did to him. Hyde grabs Scorpion’s throat, but Scorpion gets out what he knows. The pair leaves together. Hyde stops the first car on the road and throws the driver out. They drive away together.

Captain America #151- Scorpion and Mr. Hyde jump Steve Rogers as he walks along brooding about Sharon Carter. After Steve flips Mister Hyde over Scorpion tries to hit Rogers with his tail, but Steve ducks and hits Scorpion. Steve runs away and Scorpion says that he didn’t think Rogers could hit that hard. Mister Hyde says that Scorpion’s plan failed so he is calling the shots. Hyde says that they are going after Sharon Carter next. Later down in a sewer Scorpion tells Hyde that it is SHIELD that they should be after because only they could do what was done to them. Hyde asks what they would have to gain. Scorpion guesses that it was a new prison (neither realizes that they were abducted and had robots made of them by The Assassin). Hyde says that seems right and they go to Sharon Carter’s place. When they get there they climb out of the sewer to find that Captain America and Falcon are there. Hyde matches up with Cap while Scorpion tackles Falcon. Scorpion grabs Falcon with his tail, and wraps them both around a lamppost. Scorpion takes them both and throws them towards an oncoming truck. Falcon swings out of the way just in time. Scorpion turns to see how Hyde is doing when Falcon lands on him from above. Scorpion begs off pretending to be hurt. Falcon comes in close and Scorpion wallops him with his tail. Falcon is stunned, but Redwing attacks Scorpion. For some reason Scorpion is scared of it and yells. Hyde is grabbing Sharon Carter just as Scorpion hits Redwing with his tail. Falcon gets up furious. Falcon is about to hit Scorpion, but Cap blocks it with his shield because they have Sharon hostage. Hyde and Scorpion escape into the sewers with Sharon.

Captain America #152- Scorpion stands next to a tied up Sharon Carter as Hyde impatiently waits for a truck to bring him some chemicals. Scorpion asks what they are for, but Hyde tells him that it’s none of his business. Hyde walks out and says that he wants to know when the chemicals will be there. Sharon Carter asks Scorpion what chance they have against Cap and Falcon. Scorpion smashes something with his tail. Cap and Falcon trace their hideout through Hyde’s chemicals. Inside Scorpion stands around fondly remembering Jameson look like an idiot for wanting to make him a superhero. Captain America and Falcon crash through the window. Cap fights Scorpion while Falcon unties Sharon. Cap throws his shield at Scorpion, but Mister Hyde snatches it out of the air. Hyde throws the shield. When Cap ducks under the shield Scorpion smashes Cap in the back with his tail. Cap grabs a rope and lassos Scorpion. He manages to pin Scorpion’s tail and one of his arms. For some reason the man who can easily lift twelve tons can’t break the rope. Cap then hits Scorpion once and knocks him down.

Marvel Team-Up #106- The doctors try to talk to Mac Gargan, but Gargan just sits there looking off aimlessly babbling to himself about how he will make Jameson and Spider-Man pay. Gargan had been this way for months so they sent him from the prison to a doctor to try and restore his mental faculties. The doctors determine that Scorpion has a mental dependency on his suit, and when it was forcibly removed he broke down. They send for his costume, and because it grants him no special powers (what about the tail?) they let him put it on. Gargan immediately returns to his regular state. The doctors wonder what tests to perform next, but Scorpion says that they can cancel the rest. Scorpion smashes through the wall with his tail. He says that he only pretended to be crazy figuring someone would give him his suit back. Scorpion leaps out of the building and throws a Buick. Scorpion says that nothing can save Jameson now. Scorpion first heads to the abandoned lab of the late Dr. Farley Stillwell. Scorpion says that Jameson will pay for making him a freak, and that he will strike at Jameson through the Daily Bugle. Scorpion takes a bunch of Stillwell’s equipment hoping to augment his powers. Peter Parker hears about Scorpion’s escape and goes on the hunt. Spider-Man can’t find Scorpion anywhere. Scorpion assembles a bunch of thugs at an abandoned restaurant. He says that he wants to establish the biggest protection racket going. The thugs ask why they should leave their spots to join him. They say Spider-Man always beats him. Scorpion shows them all his new electro-magnetic “sting” blast from his tail. The thugs are impressed and join Scorpion on a terror campaign against the Bugle. They wreck stores that carry the paper and destroy distributors and wholesalers. The Daily Bugle circulation is down by 30%. Scorpion comes to the Daily Bugle to confront Jameson the same day both Peter Parker and Steve Rogers are in the building. Scorpion comes crashing through the wall and Parker and Rogers run to change. Robbie Robertson stands between Scorpion and Jameson so Scorpion pushes him to the ground. Jameson says that he will pay anything, but Scorpion says that he already took Jameson’s money once and look where it got him. Captain America shows and starts fighting Scorpion. Scorpion hits cap stunning him, but then Spider-Man shows up. Scorpion says that he hates Spider-Man because they are both freaks, but Scorpion is a monster and Spidey isn’t. Scorpion blasts Spider-Man unconscious with his new tail. Scorpion then blasts him out the window. Cap leaps out the window to save him. Scorpion grabs Jonah and leaves. Spider-Man and Cap find Scorpion’s hideout. Scorpion grabs Jameson while his goons fight the heroes. Spidey chases Scorpion leaving the goons to Cap. Scorpion throws Jameson at Spider-Man. Scorpion tries to sting Spidey, but Cap severs his tail with a shield throw. The tail explodes. Spidey and Cap knock Scorpion out.

Avengers #222- Egghead uses Tiger Shark to free Scorpion, Whirlwind, and Moonstone from prison. Later Scorpion sits around with the others waiting for the new leader. Egghead comes in and tells them that they are working for him now. Whirlwind jumps the gun and tries to abduct Wasp from Avengers mansion. Hawkeye tries to stop him, but the Scorpion and the other new Masters of Evil arrive. Hawkeye sends up a signal to the others. Suddenly the lot of them is hit by Thor’s hammer. Moonstone blasts Thor. It distracts him and allows Scorpion to paste him with his tail. Wasp stings Scorpion in the back of the head. He looks up to see the She-Hulk standing in her bra and panties. Scorpion asks who the green chick is. Wasp blasts Moonstone towards She-Hulk, and She-Hulk punches Moonstone into the Scorpion. The police come and take them away.

Amazing Spider-Man annual #18- Mac Gargan watches through his cell’s window as J. Jonah Jameson leaves the sanitarium after visiting his son. Scorpion is wearing a souped up straight jacket in his padded cell. Gargan’s psychiatrist arrives with a few consultants and asks Gargan if he is ready to begin his session. Gargan says that he doesn’t care as long as he isn’t paying. The doctors say that the bills are already paid. Later Gargan receives his nightly guest. One of the guards comes and brings Scorpion a few things and reads the paper to him. The other guards are impressed when he says that he visits the Scorpion and hears his stories. The guard reads from the newspaper that Jameson is getting married. Scorpion says that does it. He says that he has been waiting for this. Scorpion rips out of his enhanced straightjacket. Gargan smashes the guard’s tranq gun, and then rips the steel padded door to his cell. Gargan grabs the guard and has him take him to his costume. Gargan rips off a two-foot thick steel door and gets his costume. The guard tries to run, but Scorpion blasts him with his tail’s sting. Next Scorpion kicks in John Jameson’s door. He wraps him up in a straightjacket and leaps out of the sanitarium. Scorpion takes John into the sewers and hangs him on the wall. Scorpion takes off and makes his way into the building above. Scorpion opens the elevator shaft and climbs up. Scorpion comes out on Jonah’s fiancée’s apartment floor. He fights his way through the police into her apartment. Scorpion blasts the final guard before the guard can get off a shot with his laser cannon. Suddenly Spider-Man swings into the room. Spider-Man keeps hitting Scorpion as he dodges Scorpion’s blasts. Scorpion hits the fuse box so that he has the only light from his power glowing tail. Spider-Man doesn’t even hurt Scorpion with his punches. Eventually Scorpion connects with his tail. Miss Madison tries to run, but trips over a table. Scorpion blasts her, but only wounds her arm. Spidey grabs Ms. Madison and swings out the window. Scorpion chases after them. Scorpion throws a chunk of concrete at them. Spidey manages to kick it so it falls in little pieces to the ground. Spidey gets to the top of a building and has Marla run. Spidey punches Scorpion, but Scorpion just stings a nearby building and Spider-Man has to go save the innocents. Scorpion leaps down the building to grab Marla. He corners her, but then Jonah shows up. Scorpion says that Jonah is going to pay. Jonah says that he is the one paying for scorpion’s therapy, and even set up a fund for his victims. Scorpion says that money won’t stop him from being a freak. Scorpion says that he doesn’t need money. He only wants Jonah’s life and the lives of anyone he cares about. Scorpion grabs Jonah and Marla. Suddenly John Jameson storms Scorpion. Scorpion swats him unconscious. Scorpion tells Jonah to decide if Marla or John gets to live. Jonah says to kill him instead. Scorpion says that he is actually going to kill them all. Spider-Man arrives and webs Scorpion’s eyes. Spider-Man hits Scorpio until Scorpion tears the webbing and his mask off. Scorpion and Spider-Man trade blows until Scorpion finally goes down. The police arrive and arrest Scorpion.

Amazing Spider-Man #319-Scorpion still has General Musgrave wrapped up in his tail as his hostage. He forces Spider-Man to bring him a pizza. Scorpion wants to trade Musgrave for JJ Jameson, but Jameson won’t cooperate. Scorpion says that they are out of time. Scorpion blasts the roof off the building. He gets out and forces a helicopter pilot to take off for him. Spidey’s webs snag the helicopter, but Scorpion tears it with his new razor tail. Spidey hits it again, and manages to get a tracer on Scorpion. Scorpion gets the rotor blades to snap the webline and Spidey falls into the ocean below. Later Scorpion lands in Connecticut. He ties up Musgrave and the pilot. Scorpion wonders what to do with Musgrave now that he has crossed Justin Hammer. He figures to sell the general to Kingpin. The next day Scorpion is accidentally driving into Queens, instead of Manhattan, when a glob of webbing fills the windshield to the truck he took. Scorpion gets out to fight Spider-Man, but suddenly Blacklash and the Rhino arrive to get revenge for Justin Hammer. Rhino goes after Scorpion while Blacklash tries to get Musgrave. Scorpion tries tear gas, but Rhino is unaffected. Scorpion decides he better run for it. Scorpion leaps onto a giant world’s fair sphere, but Rhino knocks it to the ground. Rhino grabs Scorpion’s new tail and rips it off. With Musgrave escaped Blacklash and Rhino go.

Alpha Flight #79- Mac Gargan sits in JFK airport reading his horoscope. His sign of course is Scorpio. The Tinkerer finally arrives. Gargan says that his flight leaves in a few minutes and that he was worried Tinkerer wouldn’t make it. Scorpion tells Tinkerer that he is leaving for Canada before the superhuman registration starts up. Tinkerer gives Scorpion his new tail. Tinkerer says that it isn’t quite as powerful, but that he should be pleased. Tinkerer also fixed the suitcase so he wouldn’t have a problem with the x-rays at luggage check. Scorpion pays Tinkerer. When Scorpion gets to Canada Diamond Lil confronts him. Tailsman of Alpha Flight has foreseen a group forming to oppose them, and that they need to get them out of Canada before they get to form. Lil says that she is there to escort him back over the border. Lil asks if he will cooperate or if they have to party. Scorpion says that he will party with her anytime, but that they should go get a motel room first. Scorpion hits Lil tot he ground. He picks her up and throws her through the “Welcome to Canada” sign. Scorpion throws a guy out of his car and drives away.

Alpha Flight #80- In Winnipeg the Scorpion is getting into his new costume inside a gas station bathroom. Some guy is pounding on the bathroom door while he changes. Scorpion smashes the door down with his tail and then pounds the guy. Suddenly Diamond Lil gets out of a cab. Scorpion says that she shouldn’t have followed him. He says that he was being kind before, but now he is in a killing mood. Lil says that she is invulnerable, and that the only one who is getting hurt will be him. Scorpion smashes Lil with his tail. By the time Lil gets up Scorpion is gone again. Elsewhere the Sorcerer watches as he subconsciously manipulates Scorpion towards Nekra and Vindicator. Sorcerer needs the violence to occur. Scorpion nails Vindicator in the back of the head with his tail. Nekra says that she is hers. Scorpion says that he will take her arms and she can have her legs, and then they can make a wish. Diamond Lil grabs Scorpion’s tail and then throws him into Nekra. Suddenly the Owl and Asp show up. Gamma Flight also arrives. Scorpion blasts Wild Child with a charge from his tail. Suddenly Sasquatch and Box arrive. Sasquatch smacks Scorpion. Scorpion is fighting Nemesis. Nemesis slashes Scorpion’s tail in half with her sword. The fighting continues until Witchfire manages to break the spell of interference that is manipulating Scorpion, Nekra, Owl, and Asp. They all fall to the ground.

Amazing Spider-Man #370- Scorpion swats two guards with his tail. Scorpion says that his tail seems to be working fine, but that he never had much trouble with regular guys. A giant robot grabs hold of Scorpion’s tail. Scorpion unleashes a massive electrical charge. The Tinkerer asks Scorpion if the tail worked as promised. Scorpion says that it did the job, but that he felt a small jolt himself. Tinkerer figures that it might be a short in the new circuitry. Tinkerer tells Scorpion to leave it with him, and that he will work it out before this afternoon. Scorpion says that a little wait will make killing Jameson more sweet. Later as Spider-Man talks to the Black Cat about her involvement with the Tinkerer the Scorpion blasts at Spider-Man. Scorpion leaps at Spidey, but Spider-Man dodges his tail. Black Cat wants to help Spider-Man, but she doesn’t have any powers so Spider-Man tells her to get out. Spidey keeps dodging tail swinging and blasting. Spider-Man leaps onto the top of a building, and Scorpion follows him up there. Spider-Man dodges Scorpion’s punch as Scorpion demolishes a chimney. Spidey punches Scorpion. Scorpion shoots acid at Spider-Man, but Spidey keeps dodging. Spider-Man starts punching away on Scorpion. Suddenly an amorphous blob wraps around Spider-Man. Scorpion starts punching away on Spider-Man. Black Cat arrives and kicks Scorpion. Black Cat guides Spider-Man so that when Scorpion swings his tail the electrical charge causes the blob to latch onto Scorpion’s tail. He tries to fry it off, but it backlashes and the electrical charge blasts Scorpion. Scorpion runs for it. Spider-Man tries to catch him, but Scorpion gets away.

Amazing Spider-Man Unlimited #22- In Wyoming, Scorpion crashes into the headquarters of the Fist of Freedom as they plan a violent revolution. Scorpion starts blasting them down, and then swats others over with his tail. One guy turns to shoot mortars at Scorpion, but Scorpion shoots sulfuric acid into the man’s eyes. Scorpion finishes defeating the guys and then drags them out to the helicopter outside. Scorpion asks the government agents where they are headed now. One replies that they are going to New York City. The next day Scorpion makes the headlines for breaking up the militia. Elsewhere as Jameson and his wife fret over the fact that Scorpion is back again Jameson’s private line in his office starts to ring. Jameson picks up the phone to hear Scorpion on the other side. Jameson asks what this is about. Scorpion tells Jameson to be at One Roxxon Plaza tomorrow night at 7:30. He says that his new employers are holding a press conference, and Scorpion wants Jameson to get first dibs on the good seats. The next night Roxxon executive Terrance Gerard introduces the Scorpion as the first converter in their rehabilitation program. He says that they have surpressed his mental illness and reawakened his patriotism. He says that with the NSA’s, CIA’s, and FBI’s assistance that the Scorpion is now the ultimate weapon against terrorism and subversion in America. Terrance says that Scorpion is but the first convert, the prototype. Ben Urich asks how Roxxon got legal custody of a wanted fugitive. Gerard says that it is a matter of national security. Scorpion asks what is going on here. Suddenly one man in the crowd stands up strapped with dynamite. Scorpion blasts the guy, but Spider-Man had already jumped into the room. Gerard says that Spider-Man must be the man’s accomplice. Scorpion charges Spider-Man. Spider-Man grabs the still ticking bomb. Scorpion swats Spider-Man, but Spider-Man punches him and runs off with the bomb. Later that night Scorpion walks in on Gerard in his office. Scorpion says that he doesn’t mind stomping lowlifes for him, but that he was promised the opportunity to settle his own scores. Gerard says that he will in good time. He says that as soon as Roxxon gets what it wants then Scorpion will get what he wants. Ten days later at a seminar Marla Madison, JJ’s wife, is giving a seminar. Suddenly a group of the Black Tarantula’s men storm the place. One grabs Marla and takes her into a car. Jameson runs after her as they drive away. Scorpion says that he was told to lay low, but he couldn’t resist. Scorpion asks how it feels to be too weak and pathetic to help his wife. Scorpion blasts JJ one, and tells him not to worry that he and his wife will be together again soon. Spider-Man doesn’t see any of this, but manages to hit a helicopter with a spider tracer. Later Spidey is a stow away on the plane as Scorpion, Marla, JJ, and the Black Tarantula’s men fly to a secret scientific complex. The Black Tarantula greets them. Inside they see that they are trying to produce more superhumans to act for them. Black Tarantula says that all they are missing is a scientist with extensive bioengineering knowledge. Marla asks why she would agree to this. Scorpion shows her why by zapping Jameson again. He tells her that Jameson now has a few hours to live, and that if she wants the antidote she will cooperate. Suddenly Spider-Man drops down to stop Scorpion from killing Jameson outright. Tarantula is angry, but Scorpion tells him to simmer down. He says that he will take care of this. Scorpion drives Spider-Man through a wall. Spidey looks up to see that he is in a desert area. Spider-Man hits Scorpion, but Scorpion grabs his neck and throws him. Spidey tries to web his tail, but realizes that he is out of webbing. Spidey freaks and goes off. He starts pounding on Scorpion. Scorpion “plays dead” and when Spidey stops Scorpion injects him with the same poison he gave Jameson. Marla and Jameson reach the plane and radio for help. Spider-Man tells Scorpion that he is a big fake. He says Scorpion is always crying about being turned into a freak, but now he is working for those who are doing it to others. Scorpion turns as Tarantula yells to kill Spider-Man. Spidey quickly leaps around and injects Scorpion with his own poison. Spidey the punches Scorpion. Marla’s assistance arrives and arrests Scorpion and the Roxxon employees.

Amazing Spider-Man vol. 2 #1- Mac Gargan is strapped into a lot of machinery. He asks who it is, and how they got him out of jail. The voice says that he is a weapon, and that he will be trained and improved or he will die. The voice says that he has been a failure. Scorpion says that Spider-Man was lucky. The voice says that he will be trained. Scorpion says that if they want a job done all they have to do is tell him. The voice says that he will be their weapon. Scorpion says that he can’t. Suddenly Scorpion is zapped by some all-encompassing black energy. The voice asks who he is. Scorpion emerges in his new lame costume and says that he is their weapon.

Amazing Spider-Man vol. 2 #1- Peter Parker has decided to stop being Spider-Man so he doesn’t go when he hears that Scorpion is tearing up the police and Manhattan. Scorpion swats and blasts the police away. Scorpion blasts a truck with his tail causing it to explode. Scorpion tells them to get away or they will die where they stand. Scorpion unleashes a huge amount of energy from his tail. Betty Brant tries to get a few pictures of Scorpion, but he spots her and walks towards her. Suddenly “Spider-Man” leaps down and kicks Scorpion’s face. Scorpion says that he has no beef with Spider-Man today. He says that he only came to find the guy he is after and to take him to where he is supposed to take him. Spider-Man says that he shouldn’t have torn up the street then. Scorpion says that it wasn’t his fault. He says that he didn’t know it would be in the city, and that it would be in front of a donut shop. Scorpion blasts the ground. Spider-Man emerges from below the ground and lifts the ground Scorpion is standing on. Scorpion flies into the air propelled by the power of his tail. Scorpion says that his power has been seriously amplified. Scorpion says that he hears Spider-Man is good at holding up buildings. Scorpion blasts a building and it falls on “Spider-Man”. Later as Peter Parker is interviewing for a job at Tri Corp the Scorpion smashes down the wall and says that he wants whoever it is he is after. Nobody knows who he is after so Scorpion blasts the room with his tail. Parker helps the others from the room and Scorpion discovers that it is Parker he is after. Scorpion says that he doesn’t know what Parker did, but he is coming with him. Suddenly “Spider-Man” arrives again. While Spider-Man and Scorpion fight it out Peter grabs a cable hooked up to a generator. He throws it onto Scorpion’s arm and pumps him full of juice. Scorpion goes unconscious.
