Techno

P. Norbert Ebersol is looking for a challenge. Norbert Ebersol might be the most underrated genius in the Marvel universe. Norbert has been known as the Fixer and Techno. A few misguided souls even call him Ogre. But one thing is certain. Norbert is a good man to have in your corner. Any scientific request is granted by this eternally loyal right hand man.

Thunderbolts #-1- Norbert Ebersol gets his date to admit that she doesn't care for him at all. Norbert walks into his apartment unsurprised and apathetic. He found his date to be a pretty moron anyway. Norbert smiles as he has broken some encryptions from Hydra as he did their database. He knows they intend to make their move tonight so he gets dressed in his Fixer outfit. Fixer comes across Hydra agents that are attempting to subdue an amnesiac Namor. Secretly Fixer called the police before he came, and he offers to help Hydra get away. Fixer blasts Namor through a wall. Fixer tells Hydra to take him to their leader. The awed Hydra agents listen. Fixer basks in the Hydra agent's awe, as much as he dismissed his date's indifference.

Strange Tales #141- Mentallo feels the "alarm waves" and knows S.H.I.E.L.D. has found people to replace him for Operation Brain-Blast. Mentallo had been hiding from SHIELD, but now he must strike at them. He lets his mind go blank and searches for the one he seeks. He finds the one police call "The Fixer" in jail. Mentallo remarks how Fixer might have rivaled Tony Stark had he not become a criminal. Mentallo watches as Fixer magnetizes his prison bed and places it against his wall. Fixer fashions himself a gas mask and goggles. He climbs inside some stolen rubber sheeting. Fixer then opens a stool and takes out a steering and firing mechanism. He sets the equipment up as a flying machine. The bed's feet contained detonator caps and as they break the concrete free the magnetized bed pulls the wall towards the bars of his cage. Fixer flies out and once he has escaped a section of sheet that was wrapped around the stool releases as a parachute. Mentallo decides he must have the Fixer for a partner.

Strange Tales #142- Nick Fury, through Operation Brain-Blast, watches Mentallo swim to the underwater hideout of the Fixer. By reading Fixer's mind Mentallo gets through all Fixer's booby traps. Mentallo offers Fixer a partnership. Fortunately for Fixer that SHIELD can't pinpoint their location. Fixer and Mentallo travel towards SHIELD in Fixer's through the ground tank. Mentallo asked who helped him build it, but Fixer won't say. Mentallo senses them dropping a twenty-foot thick wall in front of them. Fixer and Mentallo get out to examine the wall. Fixer alters his turbo blowers into "Jericho tubes". He yells into them and they emit a sonic pitch that destroys the wall. Once inside Fixer sets up a machine that cuts off all electronic communication. Walls box our villains in, but Mentallo senses the weakest spot on the wall. Fixer dissolves it. Mentallo senses armaments ahead. Fixer activates his deflector and has Mentallo launch a grenade at the weapons. Fixer and Mentallo fly into the room where Fury is. Fixer releases Element Z that knocks everyone out. Fixer places an electronic mask on Fury that forces him to be the duo's slave.

Strange Tales #143- Mentallo tells Fixer that he is ready to announce to SHIELD that they are in control now. Instead of surrendering the SHIELD ship retreats to try and find a way to beat them. Tony Stark is in command of battle strategy while Fury is gone. Stark prepares a Neutralizer that will deal with whatever major weapon Fixer and Mentallo have planned for them. Fixer and Mentallo are wearing special helmets that block SHIELD’s ESP agents. Mentallo says there is no way Fixer could have built an miniature H-bomb by himself. Fixer says he has already admitted he got equipment from “Them”. Mentallo says that he will find out who they are, but Fixer says it would probably cost his life to do so. Still wearing the mask that makes him obey Fury takes hold of the bomb when Fixer tells him to. Mentallo says to bracket his hands. Fixer reminds Mentallo that he designed the thing, but Mentallo says the idea was his. After his hands are welded on Fixer removes the mind control mask. Fury sends a song signal to SHIELD to strike. Two agents shoot something onto Fixer and Mentallo’s helmet forcing them to take it off. Fury tells the ESP Division to strike now. Fixer, Mentallo, and Fury all reel from the psychic attack. Stark neutralizer disarms the bomb. Mentallo wants to surrender from the psychic pain, but Fixer calls him a sniveling coward. Fixer gives Mentallo a rifle so they can blast their way out of there. Fixer and Mentallo are confused by a Metronome Unit. Dum Dum tackles Fixer, and then knocks him out.

Strange Tales #145- Fury questions the Fixer about his connections hoping they might give him clues about the Cult of the Druid. Inside the Truth-Gas Cage Fixer says he only knew his benefactors as "Them". He never knew their identities only that they had limitless wealth and power. Fury asks if they had flying egg machines (as the Clan of the Druid does). Fixer says no and that he would have known if they did. Fury shows Fixer a "miniature brain" on him. He asks what he was supposed to do with it. Fixer says he doesn't know as he was captured before he knew.

Daredevil #121- behind the scenes-

Marvel Two-In-One #26- flashback- Fixer turns a light bulb into a heat ray and escapes from prison.

Marvel Two-In-One #26- Fury brings Thing aboard the helicarrier and tells him that for some reason Fixer and Mentallo want him. Fixer tells Mentallo that he has just mastered his flying discs, and that it is time to begin. Mentallo says that is good because Thing is already aboard the helicarrier as they planned. Fixer expresses doubt about Mentallo’s powers and has him read his mind to determine what Fixer wants right now. Mentallo says that he is just too lazy to get up, but does throw him the correct object. They fly to the helicarrier on the flying discs. Mentallo assures Fixer that the information he read off Spider-Man was correct, and that Spider-Man has since forgotten it so they are the only ones who know about it. Fixer uses a cold-light torch to get into the helicarrier without setting off heat sensors. Once they get through though the air pressure leak is detected. Fury and Thing realize that it probably isn’t coincidence. Mentallo warns Fixer that they are coming. Fixer says that he is not yet ready for them. When they run into a dead end Fixer just cuts a hole in the floor to get to another level. Mentallo fires some servo-pods at some SHIELD agents causing them to be under Mentallo’s control. The agents rush Fury and Thing. While Thing is distracted trying to fight them Fixer shoots something onto Thing’s face that gasses him unconscious. The agents knock out Fury. They take some extra flying discs and put them on the Thing. They fly out of the helicarrier with the unconscious Thing. Fixer and Mentallo want to invade the Baxter Building. They get back to their hideout. They attach an amplified servo-unit to Thing making him their slave. Fury wakes up and they disable the servo-units on the agents. Fury dons a helmet blocking Mentallo from reading his mind. He then begins to follow the tracer he put on Thing. Fixer and Mentallo get Thing to activate the elevator. Fixer revels in the moment. He then finds the object they came for…Dr. Doom’s time machine. Before they can use it however, Nick Fury smashes through the wall and hits Fixer. Mentallo captures with Fixer’s sonic whammer. Fixer then orders Thing to kill Fury. Fury manages to get the device off Thing’s head freeing him, but Fixer and Mentallo already use the time machine to bring into their time Deathlok the demolisher.

Marvel Two-In-One #27

Micronauts #25- flashback- Mentallo and Fixer sit in a prison cell together. The cell negates Mentallo’s powers, and Fixer has nothing to create a way to escape. Suddenly the wall is smashed down by “the Masters”. They want Fixer and Mentallo the serve them. They fly out of the prison on machines designed after Fixer’s own equipment. The “Masters” want them to find out about the sub-atomic universe that SHIELD is investigating.

Micronauts #24- Mentally monitoring the shutdown of Computrex, Mentallo reveals that a bunch of six-inch aliens have succeeded in shutting down one of their finest creations. Fixer shouts that he worked months on boosting Computrex’s power to serve their needs and that they’ve ruined it. Mentallo says that they are going to have to answer to them for that.

Micronauts #25- Fixer says that he built a mentascope to track and brainblast the aliens responsible for Computrex’s destruction yet Mentallo has let it go unavenged. Mentallo says that Computrex had pretty much out lived its usefulness to them. Mentallo says that the data it was stealing hinted at a sub-atomic universe, and that its destruction at the hands of aliens from that universe confirms it. Mentallo asks Fixer if he doesn’t think that their boss would be impressed by actual living proof. Fixer and Mentallo fly after the Micronauts. Mentallo says that it is his mind reading that is allowing them to track them. Fixer says that Mentallo didn’t get them out of the maximum-security prison that SHIELD had them in, it was their bosses. He tells Mentallo to stop complimenting himself, and to keep up the mental shield. Suddenly Mentallo senses that they know they are coming. Fixer says that Mentallo’s powers are pretty useless when the pressure is on. Fixer fires a device off his shoulder that wraps around the ship. Mentallo tells Fixer that two of the Micronauts are telepathic, and that they have put up thought shields. Fixer says that he better try to focus in on the others because without his mind reading ability Mentallo is just an over-rated incompetent. The Micronauts fly out to fight. Fixer shouts down Lord Acroyear and Lady Cicilia with his Jericho Tubes. He sees that Mentallo is having trouble handing one alien. He thinks that he doesn’t need Mentallo. Mentallo falls to Earth. Fixer takes out a shatter-sphere that seems to draw the Micronauts to it. Fixer says that the sphere transfers the damage it takes to those inside the sphere. Bug manages to short out Fixer’s equipment when he blasts holes in a soda machine that gets all over Fixer’s things. Lord Acroyear then blasts the helpless Fixer.

Marvel Team-Up #118- The Fixer, disguised as a driver, drives Professor X to meet his boss Professor Power. Spider-Man hitches a ride on the top of the car as he is going back to New York. His spider-sense keeps him from leaving. Power says that with a few telepathic minds working together they could eliminate all opposition to freedom, and one man could rule the Earth. Mr. Fix wheels Professor X to his son's sickbed. Powers' son is catatonic from the Vietnam War. Professor X tries but can't help him. Power traps X in psycho-plastic cage. Power reveals that both he and Mr. Fix are wearing devices that repel mind powers and project benevolent thoughts. Power shows Professor X a burned out Mentallo. He tells Xavier that through Fixer's hook up they will drain Xavier's telepathic energies and feed them into Mentallo. Power thinks that Xavier is purposely not healing his son. Xavier mindblasts Power through the bubble, but not enough to stop him. Power yells at Fixer for his inadequate shielding. Spider-Man arrives and Mr. Fix drops his illusion and becomes the Fixer. Spider-Man kicks him in the face. Fixer tries to shoot Spider-Man, but misses. Spidey webs the gun as Fixer planned. The gun arcs around and comes at Spidey blowing up the wall behind him. Fixer hurls a canister at Spidey. Spidey dodges, but the canister is trapped in, of all things, webbing. Spidey rips free, but Fixer hits him as he does so. Spidey flips Fixer. Spidey manages to dodge Fixer's kick to the face. Spidey pounds Fixer. Fixer sprays Spidey with a gas. Spidey whips up a webbing copter blades to disperse the gas, and then uses the webbing to trap Fixer. Despite Fixer's power boost Mentallo loses to Xavier. The police arrive.

Iron Man #202- Fixer causes a plane to go out of control so he can see Iron Man's new armor at work. As he watches Iron Man save the plane he says the secrets of the suit will be his. Fixer's spy ball takes pictures of the West Coast Avengers compound as Iron Man gives Kazar a tour. Fixer deactivates the compound's defense systems. When the tour gets to the library Fixer uses his Jericho tube to shout a hole in the wall. Fixer flies into the library. Iron Man charges right at Fixer. Fixer hits him with a disc that kills all the power in Iron Man's suit. Iron Man drops to the ground. Fixer says he wants the armor. Kazar awakens and charges Fixer. He throws a fire poker knocking Fixer shot wide. He leaps onto Fixer, but Fixer just releases an electrical surge knocking Kazar out. Iron Man gets the disc off, but by then Fixer has Kazar hostage. Fixer keeps Kazar with a mechanical tarantula on his back. Iron Man strips the armor off down to his helmet and metal "underpants". When Iron Man sees Kazar awake he activates a force field in the armor pieces by Fixer's feet. Fixer is knocked over and Kazar is freed from the tarantula. Kazar hits Fixer with a boot. He throws one boot and one glove to Iron Man. They wobbly fly out of the compound. Fixer shoots two mini-bombs, but iron man uses his glove to block them. Fixer disables Iron Man's boot with a quick hardening plastique. Fixer clamps Iron Man's free leg down. Iron Man blasts Fixer's gun. Fixer goes to burn IM to a cinder with the leg clamp, but Kazar jumps out with taped fists. Kazar comes out and pounds Fixer. He removes Fixer's battle vest. Kazar knocks him out and ties him up. Iron Man calls the feds.

They want the Sonic Scanner that Stark is developing for finding offshore oil reserves destroyed. Mr. Hale calls the Fixer. Days later Barstow Electronics is bombed destroying their portion of the research for the Sonic Scanner. Later that day Jim Rhodes approaches Clay Wilson, the man who used to be Force, about temporarily wearing an Iron Man armor. That night at Accutech Research, another Stark affiliate, the Fixer enters and turns on the lights. Inside he finds Jim Rhodes and the black armor Iron Man. Fixer says that he was told that Iron Man was out of town. Iron Man blasts Fixer, but Fixer comes back with two bola-shoks. Rhodes shoots the one meant for him with his gun, and Iron Man overloads them with electricity from his armor. A gunfight begins, and while his bolas didn’t slow them down much it did separate Rhodes and Iron Man enough for Fixer to shoot the Finder Element. Fixer runs. Two days later Fixer attacks Stark Enterprises. He flies by the defense with his jetpack. Fixer then uses an energy bubble to divert the taser darts following him. Rhodey, Iron Man, and the security team rush out to stop him, but Fixer easily dodges them and flies into the building. Fixer thinks about the bonus he is going to get for destroying all three major components of the Sonic Scanner when Iron Man crashes through the wall. Fixer nails the dark suited Iron Man with a concussion bomb. Fixer leaves after having destroyed the machine. Tony Stark decides that he needs to design an armor that will allow him to use it in his current state. Soon after, the Fixer returns in a giant ship. Fixer downs the dark armored Iron Man with an energy lash that drains his power. Fixer is rocked when Stark’s new armor smashes into him. He tries another energy lash, but Stark returns it to him by reversing the magnetism. Fixer is shocked.
