Tyrannus
Romulus
Augustlus, last Roman emperor, was deposed in 476 AD. Tyrannus
feels he was born to rule. He composed a giant army to defeat
King Arthur and conquer England. When Tyrannus was defeated
Merlin banished him to the world of Subterranea. There Tyrannus
found a colony of Subterraneans. Though some had lost the ability
to speak through breeding Tyrannus still felt that although they
were not regular people they were still people to be lead.
Avengers annual #20- Romulus Agustilus, last emperor of Rome, is deposed as a child. Grown into adulthood Tyrannus assembles an army to conquer England and King Arthur. Sir Percy of Scandia, the original Black Knight, leads Arthur's forces to victory. Black Knight himself defeated Tyrannus. Brought to judgement Tyrannus yells at Arthur and Merlin. Merlin banishes Tyrannus to Subterranea. There Tyrannus rules over the subeterraneans. The tyrannoids show Tyrannus the Deviant technology they tended to. Tyrannus eventually grows very old. His tyrannoids immerse him in the fountain of youth.
Uncanny X-Men #34- Ted Roberts calls Jean Grey and tells her Ralph, formerly the Cobalt Man, has been captured. Ted tells her to get the X-Men there (though Jean hadn't told him her secret identity). Angel, Iceman, and Marvel Girl go to investigate. Ted tells them that Tyrannus has Ralph, and that if Ralph doesn't do what he is told Tyrannus will kill him. Ralph was working on a cobalt alloy that is stronger than steel. Tyrannus burst in and knocks out Ted. Tyrannus takes Ralph and the alloy with him back to the center of the earth. Ted takes them to an earth-borer that traces power sources. The X-Men run into the Mole Man. He leads them to the River Lethe, which causes them to lose their memory. Tyrannus has Ralph finish coating his robot with his new cobalt alloy. Tyrannus needs his 30-foot robot to beat Mole Man's 30-foot robot that is made of diamond. Angel wrote down where he was going so Beast and Cyclops follow their trail (they make excellent time climbing down to the center of the earth). They get in the ship Angel, Iceman, and Marvel Girl came down in. Mole Man convinces the three amnesia victims that they work for him. Tyrannus drinks from his fountain. Mole Man attacks, but Tyrannus' robot defeats Mole Man's. Angel blinds Tyrannus' robot and it falls into a lava-heated pit. There it blows up. Tyrannus realizes that Ralph Roberts sabotaged it. While Tyrannus struggles with Ralph, Angel, Marvel Girl, and Iceman come in to capture Tyrannus for Mole Man. Cyclops and Beast capture Mole Man who takes them to the others. Before they leave the X-Men have Tyrannus and Mole Man breath from the River Lethe so that they forget who they are.
Incredible Hulk #127-
Tyrannus tried to bring Hulk to him, but missed and
transported the police "threatening" Hulk. Hulk
supposes that whoever took the police must be Hulk's only friend.
This gives Tyrannus the idea to dispatch Mogol to befriend the
Hulk so that Hulk might work for him. Tyrannus needs Hulk to take
back the fountain from Mole Man, who marches against him now.
Tyrannus sends Mogol there. Mogol offers the friendship of
Tyrannus. Hulk remembers the name and that he doesn't like it.
Hulk charges Mogol. Mogol is angry now. He picks an entire high
rise and throws it on Hulk. Mogol is impressed Hulk gets up. They
decide to test themselves against a train, but it manages to
stop. Mogol hits Hulk as he turns to the train. Hulk hits Mogol
through many support beams. Hulk finally accepts Mogol's
friendship, and the two teleport back to Tyrannus. Mogol and Hulk
work as Tyranus yells at them to hurry up. Hulk and Mogol finish
assembling tanks and they go to fight the Mole Man. During the
battle Mogol is hit, and Hulk discovers that Mogol is a robot.
Hulk is mad because he thinks he was tricked, but Mogol didn't
know he was a robot. Hulk doesn't care and destroys Mogol. Hulk
finishes smashing Mole Man and then goes and wreaks havoc on
Tyrannus' city.
Fantastic Four #127-128- While looking for the Mole Man Thing falls into Mole Man's trap. Thing met Kala who Thing believed to be a decent sort, but betrayed him to the Mole Man's trap. Thing later questions Mole Man calling himself supreme since Tyrannus is around. Mole Man shows a zombie like Tyrannus who says he acknowledges Mole Man's supremacy. Mole Man's plan is to drill both up and down at the same time allowing lava to cover the earth. Thing escapes but the rest of the FF, who are catching up, see him as a monster. The FF defeat each other as Mole Man watches. Tyrannus serves Mole Man and Kala champagne. Mole Man remarks how well the hypnotizing has worked on Tyrannus. As Tyrannus leaves Mole Man trips him with his staff. Kala requests Tyrannus' aid in preparing her and Mole Man's wedding. Sue Storm turned the FF invisible to trick the Mole Man. The FF find the reverend that Mole Man was going to have married he and Kala. The FF minus Reed attack, but Mole Man defeats them. He stands triumphant until Tyrannus shoots him imprisoning him in energy rings. Kala has freed him from the mind control. She wanted to be with him all along. Tyrannus then turns and imprisons Kala in the same energy rings. Tyrannus says that no one is good enough, no one brilliant or beautiful enough to rule by his side. Mole Man frees the FF to take down Tyrannus. Reed reveals himself disguised as a subterranean. Tyrannus tries to escape,but Mole Man's ship is booby trapped and it explodes.
Incredible Hulk #241- flashback- Tyrannus reveals how after the explosion in Fantastic Four #168 that his subterraneans found him an immersed him in the fountain of youth until he was healed. When he was healed he noticed that the waters no longer restored his youth. So Tyrannus used his crystal to find a way to restore his vitality. He found the Sacred Flame. So he set out as Des.
Incredible Hulk #240- flashback- An aged "Des" emerges from the caves to help Prince Rey and Lann reignite the Sacred Flame of El Dorado.
Marvel Team-Up #15- behind the scenes- "They who wield power" (of which Tyrannus is a member) provided the hypnotic helmet and laser pistol to the uncanny orb against Ghost Rider and Spider-Man.
Marvel Team-Up #19-20- behind the scenes- "They who wield power" (of which Tyrannus is a member) provided the Flying Ark to the Stegron against Spider-Man and Black Panther.
Marvel Team-Up #26- behind the scenes- "They who wield power" (of which Tyrannus is a member) instigated the revolt of the Lava Men that Thor and the Human Torch stopped.

Incredible Hulk #241- flashback- Tyrannus transfers his mental essence into a subterranean to use the Earth-Shaker to cause the flame to grow more quickly via an earthquake.
Nova #5- Tyrannus gives a pep talk to his mindless slaves. Tyrannus says he escaped the rocket. Then he invented the Earth-Shaker. Tyrannus reveals that he will use the Earth-Shaker to bury the world's biggest cities so that he can conquer them without the interference of the surface's armies. Tyrannus destroys a few subterranean to keep them in line. Tyrannus' Earth-Shaker emerges as Nova is auditioning for his very own Marvel comic. Tyrannus' tyranoids, now fitted with lenses for the light, come out and attack. Nova knocks them down, and flies up to the robot's head. He bangs into it and falls. The Earth-Shaker releases drills that push Nova into the ground. The Earth-Shaker then scoops Nova up, and he falls down a tunnel where he comes face to face with Tyrannus. Nova goes for him, but Tyrannus shoots him down. Nova wakes up to find his life force is now linked to the Earth-Shaker. Nova shakes his way out. Nova comes back and destroys something on the robot. The robot smacks Nova into the ground again. Nova drills up in another location and crashes through the robot. Nova grabs Tyrannus' gun, and when he threatens to hit him Tyrannus surrenders.
Incredible Hulk #241- flashback- Defeated by Nova Tyrannus leaves the subterranean's body and leaves his former host to the anger of the other defeated and believed fooled subteraneans.
Uncanny X-Men #119
Hulk Annual #15-Abomination's atoms collide with Tyrannus' mental form and the two in Abomination's body return to Earth. While happy to be back on Earth Tyrannus is horrified to find he is repulsive in Abomination's form. Abomination/Tyrannus defeats Hulk, and kidnaps Betty so Bruce will separate him from Abomination in the body of Emil Blonsky. The plan backfires however as Blonsky separates into his own body leaving Tyrannus in Abomination. Hulk defeats Abomination/Tyrannus and saves Betty. Abomination/Tyrannus is taken into custody by SHIELD.
West Coast Avengers #25-Abomination/Tyrannus is jealous of Wonder Man's looks and Hollywood success. He attacks Wonder Man only to be defeated by an electrical burst.
Solo Avengers #12-Abomination/Tyrannus escapes from capture. He then comes gunning for Wonder Man, but finds Hawkeye. Tyrannus decides Hawkeye is no threat because he doesn't read from Hawkeye's mind that he will kill. Abomination is defeated by Hawkeye when he grabs the Avenger's electrical exploding arrow.
Spider-Man Annual #23-Tyrannus' allies, Ghaur and Llyra, arrange for Emil Blonsky to be reunited into Abomination, and Tyrannus to be freed in the body of Emil Blonsky. The Abomination is left savage. Tyrannus' friends see that he gets away safely.
Spectacular Spider-Man annual 9-
Daredevil annual #4- Madame Viper meets Dr. Tyrone. Dr. Tyrone runs a clinic for alcoholics and junkies. The Serpent Serum cured their physical addictions, but since the people are addicts by nature Dr. Tyrone has set himself up as their new dependency. Dr, Tyrone takes Madame Viper into his base where he reveals that he is really Tyrannus. He shows Viper his latest slave Spider-Man. Tyrannus reveals to her that he and Lord Ghaur share a common goal is raising Set, the only difference being that Tyrannus wants the power that will be rewarded to the one who does resurrect him. Tyrannus' disciples defeat those with Viper. Tyrannus has the Flame of Life, and the Sacred Book of Kell, now with Viper Tyrannus has the perfect human sacrifice. When an intruder is detected Tyrannus sends his pet Spider-Man out. Daredevil winds up fighting him. Tyrannus opens the Doorway to Beyond, and offers Viper as a sacrifice. Dr. Strange breaks in and stops the sacrifice. Strange tells him this isn't Set, but a demon from Dormammu's dimension. Tyrannus uses all his concentration to control the demon which weakens his control over Viper. She throws Tyrannus into te pentagram. The demon swallows Tyrannus whole. All those mind controlled are free, and Strange cures those who took the Serpent Serum.
Avengers annual #20- Lava men and the subterraneans break through Broadway's street. They overwhelm Hercules and Sersi until the other Avengers arrived. Quasar flashed light into their eyes to drive them back into their hole. The Avengers follow them down to see Mole Man with Tyrannus and Grotesk. It turns out the Broadway breakthrough was not an attack, but an attempt to flee from the Deviants. The three say they have all been attacked by the Deviants. Tyrannus reveals that what he once claimed was his subeterraneans' inventions were really the property of the Deviants that had been stored. The subterraneans are actually the creation of the Deviants. Mole Man says Brutus, a new Deviant leader, wants to be dictator of the sub-earth. Captain America makes them all swear they will stop trying yto take over the surface world if they help them (though I think their fingers might have been crossed). Mole Man and Tyrannus send out their subterraneans to scout for Deviants. Tyrannus is hiding under his cloak as he has been cut off from his fountain of youth and he is starting to age. When the Avengers run into Brutus and his army Tyrannus and the others run. Vision and She-Hulk are defeated. Brutus calls for their surrender.
Avengers West Coast annual #6- An aged Kala recruits the West Coast Avengers to help Tyrannus and the other underground tyrants with the Deviants. They see Tyrannus restrained in a tent suffering from poisoning. Sersi reveals that Brutus isn't only Deviant, but part mutate and the whole invasion ends. Seeing Kala's unselfish act causes Mole Man to give Tyrannus the cure to the poison that he had always possessed. Tyrannus decides to help Kala.
Warlock and the Infinity Watch #35
Hulk #4- flashback- Tyrannus reveals that apparently the Deviants weren't the only race that left a bunch of technology around in Subterranea. He reveals how he and his tyranoids found a bunch of machines, and how he learned to use them.
