Thor #151- Karnilla and Loki watch as Sif’s spirit is within the body of the Destroyer. Sif wanted to rescue Thor, but the armor’s destructive intentions took over and attacked Thor. Karnilla offers to free Sif if Balder will agree to serve her. Karnilla asks if she is not beautiful. Balder says that there is no beauty where evil dwells, and that there are none more villainous than her. Suddenly a giant sword strikes the wall. Ulik says, “Not so Asgardian!” Karnilla asks, “You dare come here and threaten me?” Ulik says that he dares anything. Ulik says that only Geirrodur, King of the Trolls, may command him. Ulik says that the troll legions no longer serve her. Karnilla strikes at Ulik with a Norn enchantment, but Ulik doesn’t flinch. Ulik says that he was the mightiest troll, but now he is the mightiest of all that live. Ulik says that the troll wizards have armed him with an enchantment greater than hers. Ulik orders Karnilla’s demise. Balder offers to help her if she frees both Sif and himself. Karnilla frees Balder. Balder pulls Ulik’s sword out of the wall and meets Ulik in battle. Ulik says that he will test his mettle while waiting for his greatest challenge…Thor.
Thor #152- 
Karnilla frees Sif as Balder requested, and so Destroyer
(whom Thor was fighting) falls over lifeless. Ulik comes at
Balder with his mace. Balder blocks the blow, but Ulik follows up
destroying a large crag of rock. Ulik strikes Balder and says
that while Balder has courage he has might, and where Balder has
skill he is supreme. Ulik palms Balder’s face and prepares
to club him again. Balder strikes back and drives Ulik back. Ulik
gets up and says that if that was Balder’s mightiest blow
that he is as good as dead. Sif shouts to Balder, but Balder says
that he will face Ulik in the name of Odin. Ulik laughs and says
that after he kills Balder and Thor then even Odin won’t be
safe from him. With Destroyer down Thor quickly transports to
Karnilla’s lair. Sif tells Thor to go save Balder from Ulik.
Thor claims Ulik as his foe, and because he is a prince of the
realm Balder stands down. Ulik is happy because this is the fight
he really wanted. Thor says that Ulik might beat everyone else,
but that Thor is his superior. Thor smashes Ulik’s mace.
Ulik kicks Thor’s chest. Thor notes that Ulik’s mace is
destroyed. Ulik says that Thor’s power is in his hammer, but
his power is in his fist. He hits Thor, but Thor hits back. Thor
lifts Ulik into the air, but Ulik boxes Thor’s ears. While
Thor is reeling in pain Ulik breaks off a stalactite and tries to
stab Thor with it. Ulik hits Thor with the point. Ulik moves in
for the kill, but Thor fights back. Ulik shouts that he cannot
fail again. He kicks Thor’s face. Ulik shouts, “WIN!
WIN! WIN!” and drives both his fists up into Thor’s
face. Thor gets up mad and hits Ulik hard. Ulik crashes into the
wall, but the wall breaks away. Ulik falls into the Abyss of
Shadows. Thor notes that nobody comes back from it.
Thor #153- Ulik falls down the Abyss of Shadows and says that this cannot be his fate. Ulik says that his arms must save him. He reaches out and manages to catch a ledge in his hands. Ulik notes that beneath his the walls become as smooth as glass. He says that if he had missed this one chance he would have fallen forever. Ulik pulls up on the ledge to find a cavern that is filled with rocks that shine with a blinding light.

Thor #279- flashback- Pluto has Jane Foster captive, and though by decree of Zeus Pluto cannot fight Thor, Pluto arranges through Loki to have Loki teleport Ulik to them. Ulik says that whoever brought him here is going to be his next victim. Pluto points out the one who brought him there is not his enemy, but that Thor is. Ulik challenges Thor. Pluto says that the winner of the challenge will get Jane Foster to do with what he will. Ulik throws a giant rock at Thor. As Thor is breaking the rock Ulik leaps into Thor. The fight progresses and Thor reins down lightning at Ulik, but Ulik dodges. As the fight progresses Pluto ponders that he shouldn’t have listened to Loki, and perhaps gotten someone more formidable to destroy Thor. Ulik hears this and takes umbrage with being used by Pluto and Loki. Ulik knocks over a pillar so he can climb up to Pluto. Ulik says that he will kill Thor, but that right now he prefers to claim another victim. Pluto tries to run, but Ulik grabs him up. Ulik says that he is going to throw Pluto into his own hellish fires. Pluto is scared because they can destroy even him. Thor realizes that he can’t get home without Pluto so when Ulik throws Pluto, Thor catches him. Ulik grabs Jane Foster while Thor does that, but Thor then uses his hammer to teleport Ulik to Loki’s location. Ulik remembers that Loki was the other one who used him.

Thor #414- Ulik realizes that something must have happened to Loki or he would have contacted him by now. Ulik decides that it doesn’t matter because he still has the talisman that can amplify his power, power that already rivals Thor’s. Ulik sees that Hercules is still trying to find him. Ulik pounces on Hercules and swats him. Ulik tells him to defend himself. Hercules is stunned by the blow, and Ulik buries Hercules under a tractor trailer. Ulik says that he was hoping for more of a test for his might. Eric Masterson overhears about the fight so Thor flies to Hercules’ aid. Thor tells Ulik to stay his hand for his true foe has arrived. Ulik says that it is about time and that he was getting bored. Ulik tells Thor that Loki got him to Earth. Ulik says that there has always been rivalry between Asgardians and Rock Trolls, but that they are special as the two greatest of their races. Ulik says that the rivalry cannot end while one of them still lives. Suddenly Ulik grows larger before Thor. Ulik cracks Thor and knocks him into a police car. Ulik holds Thor and says that he has dreamed of Thor helpless struggling. Thor says that he is never helpless. Thor smashes Ulik’s hand with his hammer. Ulik rubs his hand and says that Thor will have to do much better. Thor is trying to get Hercules to safety. Ulik spots the SWAT team around him. Ulik grabs one of them and calls out to Thor to face him or the human dies. Thor throws his hammer into Ulik. Thor quickly follows up with a rapid succession of punches on Ulik. Ulik shouts that this cannot be. Hercules gets up and tries to regain his honor by finishing Ulik off, but Ulik just palms Hercules’ face and throws him aside into a truck carrying other cars. Thor quickly tries to stop the cars from falling, but is buried under them. Thor is separated from his hammer and turns to Eric Masterson. Ulik storms off while shrugging off SWAT team members. Ulik starts to climb the side of the building. Ulik’s power goes back down. Marcus Stone follows Ulik in his car as Ulik leaps from building to building. Stone waits for Ulik on a rooftop, but Ulik knows that he is there. Stone unloads his entire clip into Ulik, but Ulik is unfazed. Ulik swats Stone away. Ulik says that he admires Stone’s guts so he won’t kill him. Stone reloads and starts to shoot again. Ulik decides to kill him after all. Stone uses his last bullet and hits Ulik in the face. Ulik flinches and missteps. Ulik stumbles off the top of the building and falls to the round far below. Ulik hits the ground and is knocked unconscious.
Thor #418- The Wrecking Crew come to get Wrecker’s crowbar as he is in super powered shackles. Thunderball says that he is the new leader. Wrecker says that the bar has no power. He breaks out of his shackles. After hurting Thunderball the Wrecker introduces the Crew to the newest member- Ulik. Later Wrecker teleports everyone using his Asgardian power the way Ulik told him to. Wrecker says that he can’t wait to try out the other tricks Ulik taught him how to do with his Asgardian powers. Ulik tells the Crew to wait until he says before leaping out at Hercules. Wrecker also has the power to make his crowbar return to him as Thor’s hammer does. Ulik sneaks away as the Wrecking Crew fights with Hercules and Thor. Ulik says that he has “special preparations” to do before he renews his feud with Thor.

Thor #428- An invisible Ulik snickers with the invisible Enchantress as Excalibur fights what they think is Juggernaut, but is actually Thor. The Wrecking Crew and Code Blue are also there. Enchantress tells Ulik to lower his voice because her spell only prevents them from seeing them. Enchantress says that they really only came for the Wrecker and they might be able to get the others to fight him for them. As the fight progresses Ulik notes that the Wrecker is still standing. Enchantress says that is Ulik’s fault because he showed him how to use the Asgardian powers he has. Enchantress says that her magic is without peer and that he will fall to them eventually. Excalibur’s small dragon Lockheed senses their invisible presence. When Ulik speaks Lockheed starts to breathe fire on them. They don’t want to be discovered so they teleport away.

Thor #433- Ulik stands in the sewers. He says that Thor thinks that he is defeated, but he is wrong. He says that since their last battle he has been gathering his strength, and now he will have his vengeance. He says that his brawn is greater and that his rage is boundless. Ulik says that he knows just where to go to find Thor. Eric Masterson goes to visit Susan Austin in the hospital. Code Blue is watching the hospital because they think she might still be in danger. Ulik comes up from the sewers through a manhole directly over the Code Blue car. Ulik says that the woman is to be used and discarded. He says that human life is too short to be of any value to a rock troll. Eric spots Ulik fighting Code Blue and goes to change into Thor. Code Blue manages to set up a bunch of transmitters around Ulik. The transmitter traps Ulik in an electrical stasis field, but the inexperienced Eric Masterson/Thor charges at Ulik and overloads the field. Ulik says that he is there to finally smash Thor and prove he is stronger, but he suddenly senses that this isn’t the real Thor. Ulik says that Thor’s scent has been subtly changed and that he is nothing but an imposter. Ulik punches Thor into a brick wall. Ulik demands to know where the real Thor is, but Eric is going numb and unconscious. Ulik decides that he is just worthless and picks Thor up for one more punch. Ulik says to tell the real Thor that he is waiting for him as Thor crashes through a window. Ulik rips a hole through the ground and drops into the subway tunnel. Later Ulik breaks through a wall into a meat packing plant to eat. He grabs a side of beef and starts eating. Code Blue takes off to fight Ulik again. Eric Masterson decides that he has to fight his own way and faces Ulik again. He hurls his hammer into Ulik’s face. Ulik says that he warned him to stay away and that he would have let him live. Ulik leaps at Thor, but Thor side steps and Ulik smashes through the wall. Ulik says that he fights with no honor. Thor starts batting Ulik around marveling that Ulik acts how he wants and then gets indignant when he acts “without honor”. Ulik throws a car at Thor. Thor smashes it, but then Ulik slams into him. Ulik leaps at Thor, but Thor wraps Ulik’s head up in his cape. Thor pounds Ulik unconscious. Ulik is lead away in ominium steel handcuffs.
Thor #449- Uroc goes to Ryker’s Island to break out Ulik. Ulik asks Uroc what he is doing there. Uroc says that he has come for him so that he might aid in the liberation of the Golden Realm. Uroc and Ulik break through the wall to find Code Blue waiting for them. Uroc says that they are foolish and arrogant to think that they could harm his indestructible Uru body. Lt. Stone leaps away from Uroc, but finds himself at the feet of Ulik. Ulik grabs Stone by the throat and says that he has been thinking of this for some time. Ulik throws Stone. One of the Code Blue guys tries to drive a truck into Ulik, but he punches it aside. Ulik grabs Stone by the throat again and says that it is time for him to die. Suddenly Ulik is smashed in the face by Thor’s hammer. Uroc says that isn’t the Thor of legend. Ulik tells Uroc that it is only a mortal who has assumed Thor’s appearance. Uroc and Ulik disappear. Uroc says that it is too bad that they don’t have the time to humble him, but that there is a kingdom to be conquered.
Thor #450- All manner of Asgardian enemies are attacking. Thor and Code Blue show up to help Fandral defeat them. They find out that Uroc and Ulik have Hogun and Volstagg at the Well of Eternal Tears. Uroc and Ulik watch as Hogun and Volstagg are hung over a pit. Uroc says that these wretches are said to be the cream of the crop of Asgardian warriors. Ulik says that is good news since they will all fall before them then. Ulik says that he wants to hear Hogun and Volstagg beg for mercy. Code Blue and Fandral confront them while Thor deals with Heimdall. Uroc starts smashing the place up while Ulik withdraws into the cave. Lt. Stone starts to go after Ulik. Ulik grabs Stone and starts smacking him around. Somehow Stone isn’t killed. Stone throws a grenade into Ulik’s mouth. Ulik is somehow knocked onto a ledge. Ulik says to kill him for some reason. Stone says that he is arresting Ulik. For some reason Ulik freaks out (as if the only thing Stone is holding on him isn’t a gun). Stone starts reading Ulik his rights (as if his jurisdiction applies in Asgard). Ulik continues to freak out and leaps into the Well of Eternal Tears. Maybe Ulik developed a brain tumor and thought guns hurt him I don’t know.

Journey Into Mystery #504- The gods of Asgard have all
transformed into human identities. They are unaware of the
station. Seth is sending out his men to pick off the lost gods
one by one. Balder, Loki, and Sif were gathered by Red Norvell
before he died. The Rock Troll’s king, Geirrodur, sits on
the throne of Asgard. Next to him stands Ulik. Geirrodur is
watching the world where one by one the former gods of Asgard are
being killed. Ulik asks Geirrodur why this doesn’t make him
happy. Geirrodur says that any force strong enough to kill them
might one day threaten them. Ulik says that he sees what
Geirrodur’s next mission for him will be. Ulik materializes
in a suit outside the building where Freddie Moyer (Fandral) is a
professional photographer. Ulik follows them there to the home of
Vincent Starwit (Volstagg). Inside Starwit’s wife and kids
are being held captive by Men in Black and the armored one that
killed Red Norvell. Suddenly Ulik bursts through the wall to help
the lost gods. Ulik squares off with the armored one while Tso
and the others fight off the other Men in Black. The armored one
recognizes Ulik as a Rock Troll. He asks why he cares if they
kill Asgardians. Ulik says that he does not care, but he wants to
know what their grand design is and who their master is. The
armored one won’t talk, but Ulik rips him from his armor.
Ulik says that his race is known to him. All Seth’s men
disappear. Tso says that Ulik seemed to recognize the armored one
before they activated their escape route. Ulik is amused that he
thinks they were escaping. Ulik says that when the Men In Black
vanish they are being destroyed by their master for failing.

Thor vol. 2 #35- Ulik and the trolls drop their shield of invisibility as they approach Asgard on the Rainbow Bridge. Heimdall blows his horn to warn the others of the invasion. Sif realizes that the trolls think that they are vulnerable because Odin is engaged in the Odinsleep. Sif quickly departs to find Thor. As the fighting rages Ulik makes his way to Odin’s bedchamber. Ulik uses a giant axe and smashes down the door. Inside is Balder. Balder says that Ulik will reach Odin only over his dead body. Ulik says that it will be a pleasure to cut him in two. Ulik swats Balder aside and says that he will always be second best in the eyes of the one he so blindly serves. Ulik smashes down the door to Odin’s inner chamber. Ulik stands over Odin’s body, and as he raises his axe in the air he says that his Odinsleep is going to cost him dearly. Odin suddenly awakens and dispatches Ulik and the trolls. Odin strips Thor of his immortal form because he was off on Earth instead of helping Asgard again.
