She-Hulk asks the Ovoid to teach her how to perform the mind-transfer. She
plans to swap bodies with Weezi in order to get a message to the Skrull ships in
orbit. The Ovoid says he can do it almost instantly, since there isn't any
actual teaching involved… he simply has to use his mental powers to make some
changes in She-Hulk's brain. He completes the changes, and tells She-Hulk to
concentrate on a mental image of the person she wants to trade minds with.
She-Hulk focuses on Weezi...and then a few moments later she begins to feel
dizzy and collapses.
Taryn asks the Ovoid what is wrong with Jen; he says he doesn't know. He told
her that the transfer could only be performed between members of the same
species, so he says there shouldn't be a problem as long as she's attempting to
switch with another Skrull. Taryn exclaims that She-Hulk isn't a Skrull… she's a
human, and it is the gamma radiation in her blood that makes her green! The
Ovoid is horrified at the mention of gamma radiation, which will interfere with
the transfer! He says that they have to stop her from completing the change!
However, it is too late.
The
transformation process is complete, but instead of switching minds with Weezi,
her own body has taken on Weezi's physical form!
Aboard the Skrull ship, Weezi has become as large and powerful as She-Hulk!
Weezi suspects that this is something the Skrulls have done to her, and she
lifts the Captain into the air and demands to know what he's done! The Skrull
quickly proclaims his innocence, and Retread is impressed with how easily Weezi
lifted the Skrull in his half-ton battle armor! Weezi realizes that this must be
something She-Hulk did… Jen's in trouble and this was the only way she could
send a message. The Skrull agrees that makes a certain sense, given that he saw
an Ovoid ship on Dandesh. Weezi recognizes the name Ovoids as the race that can
perform mind-transfers, and figures that Jen tried to do that with her but
something went wrong.
Shortly, Weezi, Archer and Retread, who are now clothed again, beam down to the
same location She-Hulk beamed to, along with a squad of Skrull warriors! The
D'Bari attack them on sight, but the Skrulls fire back with lethal force! Weezi
protests the killing, but the Skrull ignores her. "We Skrull came here to
slaughter these replicates! Now is as good a time as any to begin!" The D'Bari
retreat, and one of them says to summon the Prime Matrix to deal with the
invaders. Archer wonders what they're talking about, but Weezi says to worry
about it later. She has found a building that looks like a prison. She smashes
her way inside, and finds Jen and the others locked up!
Jen asks the Ovoid if he can switch them back, but he says that it may not be
that easy, since there is still the gamma radiation to deal with. He suggests
that they go back to his ship...but the conversation gets interrupted when they
are attacked by D'Bari! One of the Skrulls is petrified into stone by the blast!
Weezi rips up the floor and rolls it towards the D'Bari as a barrier, driving
them back. She comments that the D'Bari were supposed to be peaceful and
harmless. Jen says that she is beginning to suspect that there is more than
meets the eye going on. She tells Weezi to look for a switch to open the cells.
Weezi spots a panel that the D'Bari seem to be guarding intently, so she figures
that's the one. As Weezi frees the prisoners, the D'Bari with the petrifying gun
runs away, saying that he won't see his people destroyed a second time!
Jen tells Weezi not to let him get away, and Weezi quickly runs after him and
grabs a hold of him. Before Weezi can take the weapon, he sets it to overload!
"Nothing can reverse the process! In three minutes everything within a hundred
thousand miles will be petrified!"
The Skrull immediately beam back to their ship and retreat,
leaving the humans stranded behind. The Ovoid says that his ship can get them
out of range, but they must hurry. Taryn says they have to get Buford and
Rocket Raccoon first, but the Ovoid says that his ship is too small to carry
their extra weight. Jen asks if Taryn knows where her shuttle is, so they can
use it to evacuate the others. She doesn't know, so Jen says they have no
choice but to leave them behind. Taryn refuses, so Weezi knocks her out and
carries her. They quickly get aboard the Ovoid's ship and take off! The Ovoid
ship is small, but fast, and they quickly pass the Skrull ship! Moments later
the weapon explodes, and the shockwave radiates out from the planet! It
envelopes the Skrull warship and turns it to stone… and the ship crumbles since
the stone ship can't handle the pressure. Jen says that it serves them right.
The petrification shockwave dissipates before it reaches the Ovoid ship… they're
safe.
They then return to the planet, and find all the D'Bari turned into statues.
Retread comments on how spooky it is, with everything as still and quiet as a
graveyard. Jen spots something moving, and when they move in to investigate,
they discover it is Razorback and Rocket Raccoon! It turns out that the
petrification and de-petrification effect are the same… it only took a second
exposure to reverse the effects on Razorback and Rocket. Jen is still left
wondering why the D'Bari are so hostile. Taryn explains that they weren't
D'Bari at all… they were the Carbon Copy Men, shape changing aliens that Thor
ran into years ago.
Buford explains that the Skrulls had decided to wipe out the Carbon Copy Men,
since they didn't like another race of shape changers running around. When they
encountered the last D'Bari survivor they took on his form and pretended to be a
D'Bari outpost, in an attempt to hide out from the Skrulls. However, it didn't
work and the Skrulls found them anyway. Jen asks how Rocket Raccoon got involved
in the whole mess, and he explains that he landed his ship there to refuel, and
he saw one of the Carbon Copy Men slip out of his "D'Bari" appearance for a
moment, so they petrified him to prevent him from telling anyone. That is also
why they imprisoned the Ovoid when they wondered if he could read minds.
Jen then turns back to the Ovoid and asks him to reverse the body switch. The
Ovoid runs a quick scan of Jen and says that he can't; there is too much gamma
radiation in his bloodstream for him to counter. "The exchange of forms between
yourself and Mrs. Mason...is permanent!"

Interesting issue with the Jen/Weezi power swap. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with this. The D'Bari/Carbon Copy Men explanation is an interesting twist, but I'm curious how Razorback and Taryn happened to learn that, and why Taryn never told Jen when she kept commenting that something seemed strange about the D'Bari. Oh well.
